Opened in October 1990, our focus has always been on the delivery of high-quality dental services, regardless of patient possession of dental insurance. We offer uniquely specialized services not found in many offices. Our office provides modern general dentistry for the entire family, pediatric to geriatric. We can employ the use of CEREC same-day crowns, laser cold sore and laser canker sore treatments, laser gum treatments, implants, extractions, root canals, bone grafts, regular-and implant-retained partial and complete dentures, cosmetics, composite white fillings and teeth bleaching. We are proud to serve Hamburg, Lakeview, Eden, Blasdell, Orchard Park and all the Southtowns.
Preventative dentistry oriented, we successfully achieve and maintain good dental health for patients of all types, even those with prior histories of multiple dental problems. Dr. Blake often succeeds in motivating patients to finally care for their teeth in the way that they wish they had been doing for most of their lives. We are great motivators! Our friendly and caring staff is inviting, and the office does not intimidate. Dr. Blake and staff devote all necessary time and resources for the best possible care of our precious family of patients.
Dr. Blake also maintains a great team of referring specialists for demanding circumstances and continuously upgrades his knowledge with education to stay on the cutting edge. As a part time clinical instructor at SUNY Buffalo Dental School, Dr. Blake also hopes to make a difference in the lives and educations of our upcoming future dentists!
Dr. James Blake was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in the village of Hamburg, NY. He attended Canisius High School, during which time his career interests branched in several directions. As a graduating high school senior in 1977, he was faced with the difficult task of deciding between full scholarships to the Cooper Union for Fine Arts in NYC, Cornell School of Architecture and many other collegiate opportunities. He instead accepted a full academic scholarship to Canisius College where, as he would say, he threw a lot of things at the wall to see what would stick. After four years of exploring many different disciplines, Dr. Blake graduated Magna Cum Laude from Canisius College with a B.A. in Biology and one course short of a quadruple minor in each of English, Psychology, Anthropology and Art History. Now certain where his interests lay, he attended the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with honors, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1985. Dr. Blake then completed a General Practice Residency at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo in 1986, where he met his future wife Barbara.
Dr. Blake entered into private practice in 1986, associating with several dental practices and eventually opening his own office in 1990 at 6185 South Park Avenue on the edge of the village of Hamburg, proudly serving patients throughout the Orchard Park, Eden, Blasdell, and Lakeview, NY areas. As his fledgling private practice grew, Dr. Blake continuously strove to stay ahead of the curve. He has made it a priority to remain cutting edge, employing many sophisticated technologies such as dental implants, deep bleaching, soft tissue lasers and cad cam dentistry. He has made it his mission to treat each and every patient in the manner he would prefer his own family be treated, always taking whatever time necessary to fully explain treatment options to his patients.
As a dedicated husband and father of four, Dr. Blake has many other interests outside of dentistry. He enjoyed coaching youth amateur hockey for nearly 14 years, becoming actively involved in the elementary school that his children attended, and was a founding father of the SSPP Elementary School Hockey team. He coached other youth amateur sports including track and field and as his coaching days dwindled, he was recruited as a faculty member at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in September of 2011. He continues there today as a part time clinical instructor where he says, The students questions and enthusiasm continually challenge me and make me rethink the reasons for everything that I do in the practice of Dentistry. He was awarded Top Dentist in Western New York by Buffalo Spree Magazine in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
Dr. Blake is also a member of the Erie County Dental Society, the Eighth District Dental Society, the Dental Society of the State of New York, the American Dental Society and the Southtowns Dental Study Club.
