Dr. Winterton grew up in Provo, Utah where he graduated Cum Laude from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors degree in biology. After graduation Dr. Winterton obtained his DDS degree at The University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry. While in San Francisco Dr. Winterton met and married his wife, Jamie, a Newport Beach native. After completing dental school Jimmy and Jamie moved to Texas where Dr. Winterton furthered his dental education by working in various clinics and engaging in continued education programs focusing on implant restoration and Invisalign orthodontic treatment. In 2014 Dr. Winterton moved his family to Newport Beach to join, and ultimately purchase, the practice of his mentor Dr. Arthur Helliwell.
Dr. Arthur Helliwell is a graduate of U.S.C. and has been practicing conservative General Dentistry in Newport Beach since 1974. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and has been on the clinical faculty at the U. S. C. School of Dentistry. He also serves on the Regional Quality Review Committee for Delta Dental of California.
Lisa has been with our office for the past 33 years as the office manager. Lisa is licensed as a registered dental assistant and also a certified oral surgery assistant. Lisa plans on retiring at the end of 2018 but will be back as a substitute when needed. Her plans are to travel the United States with her husband in their motor-home. Her other interest include painting, Pilates, reading and cooking.
Kim is originally a dental assistant who graduated from dental assisting school in 2014. As of 2018, she has taken over the role of office manager and loves it! Kim's top priority is to make sure all of our patients feel comfortable and have all questions and concerns addressed in an understanding and kind manner. In her spare time Kim loves to do Pilates and spend quality time with her husband and 5 cats.
Barb has worked in the dental field for over 40 years. She is a trained registered dental assistant and stays current with continuing dental education classes. Barb genuinely enjoys taking care of our patients needs and working as a team player with others in the office. Outside the office she enjoys hiking and kayaking.
Jill, an import from Washington State, received a Masters degree in dental hygiene with an emphasis in public health from the University of Michigan. Jill worked part time in a private practice and taught full time in a dental hygiene program for several years until moving to California. In CA, Jill worked for two periodontists for 11 years before joining our team in 1991. Jill has been a part of the team for 27 years and considers it family. Jill has enjoyed her years with all her wonderful patients, many of whom have become dear friends. With the addition of Dr Winterton, Jill feels this is a perfect practice offering every patient a healthy beautiful smile.
Karen graduated from USC in 1976 with a BS in dental hygiene and continued her advanced training at Loma Linda University to provide the best clinical services for her patients. She strongly believes good oral health is an important factor in overall health. She is dedicated to helping our patients achieve those goals. Karen has been in our office for 25 years while also working part time in a periodontal specialty office for almost 40 years. Karen enjoys spending time with her husband, two grown children, their families and a new grandson. She also relaxes by gardening, cooking, reading and exercising.
Malinda began working as a registered dental assistant where she learned to enjoy all aspects of working in a dental office. In 2000, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cypress College Dental Hygiene Program. After working for 3 years in South Jordan, Utah she joined our office team in 2003. Malinda believes the best part of being a hygienist is getting to know her patients well enough to call them friends, while maintaining a dedication to improving and sustaining their oral health.
Stacy started assisting for her own orthodontist in High School and then went on to get her BA in Psychology from CSUF. While assisting in periodontics, she decided that Dental Hygiene was really what she had a passion for, and went back to school to become a dental hygienist. After graduating top of her class from Cerritos College Stacy joined our office team and has been practicing for 21 years. Stacy describes her career this way, I love being a dental hygienist because not only am I a clean freak about everything (including teeth) but I absolutely love the relationships that I have built with my patients, and am dedicated to their dental and overall well being. Stacy enjoys visiting her daughter at Northern Arizona University, going to her sons water polo games, and traveling with her husband.

Im a long time client, 20 + years, with Dr. helliwell before Dr. winterton took over. I had appnt on 10/7. I texted their chat system saying I would be 20 minutes late. I never heard back, when I arrived (30 minutes late) they said they never got my text because the server crashed and they would be unable to see me and will need to reschedule. No problem. Here's where things went south. On 10/11 I got a text saying I need to schedule appnt. When I texted 10/12 Kim texted me saying " we will not be rescheduling you for future appnts" and "we feel you would be happier somewhere else" I couldnt believe it, very rude, unapologetic and condescending. I have been with that office for so long, and to be treated like that... I felt completely abandoned. Shame on Kim. It takes months to see them, they need more help.

Dr. Winterton is an excellent dentist. He replaced an epoxy filling which had fallen out, (the work of a previous dentist) with a composite filling which matched perfectly the shape and color of the existing tooth.

I was a patient of Dr. Helliwell's since I was a youngster, going on for decades; now that he's retired he brought in Dr. Winterton who is just as amazing. I know Dr. Helliwell would only pass his practice to a well-vetted and highly skilled Dr., and that Dr. Winterton is. The whole office staff is great. From the teeth cleaning and preventative measures they take to keeping your teeth looking and feeling great, I really trust them. I would highly recommend. Also, they keep their office so sanitary with air filtration devices in each room. They are doing their best to ensure a hygienic environment which is so important.

Dr. Winterton is super skilled. And very personable as is his entire staff. They are easy to work with. He is very thorough. He put a crown in for me yesterday that already feels like part of my mouth. His temporary crowns fit beautifully and blend right into your mouth and you don't notice that they are there. Very meticulous work. Very reasonable prices. My family is sold on him and his staff.

Dr. Winterton is a young, enthusiastic, bright, communicative, and gentle dentist. He took over the practice from our family dentist when he retired, and we really lucked out with Dr. Winterton. Terrific guy with state of the art skills...
