James R. Karpac, D.D.S., M.A., M.S., practiced general dentistry from 1981-1986 as a Doctor of Dental Surgery and has been a practicing Orthodontist since 1989. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1978 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and in 1981 from the College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
After completing a General Practice Residency program at The Medical College of Ohio in 1982 and before attending the graduate program in orthodontics at Ohio State in 1986, Dr. Karpac practiced dentistry in various environments. During that time, dental licensure in the State of Colorado was achieved, as well as Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Karpac graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1989 with a Certificate of Orthodontics, a Masters Degree in Oral Biology, and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration. Dr. Karpac is a Clinical Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, in the Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Karpac is a Board Certified Orthodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Professionally, Dr. Karpac is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, The Ohio Dental Association, and the Columbus Dental Society.
Dr. Karpac says:I like to travel the world and photograph landscapes, people, animals and the culture of where I am. I like to put those photos in both offices to show the world to my patients. I am fortunate to have traveled all over the world, and I am grateful . Seeing other cultures puts a perspective on where we live and how we live. We are fortunate. I also enjoy golf and music. As far as golf, I always lose! You never beat the gameit always beats youbut its fun because its a game of challenge!
Hi, my name is Tracey and Ive worked with Dr. Karpac for 20 years and have been in the orthodontic field for 25 years. I live in Orient with my husband Scott, my two kids, Dylan and Taylor, my two dogs, Peyton and Paisley, and my cat, Lionel. I enjoy reading, working in my garden and hanging out with my family and friends. I look forward to meeting new patients and helping them have a beautiful smile.
Hello, Im Tracy and I love the field that I have chosen and the people I am fortunate to work with. Ive worked in orthodontics for 20 years and the best part is getting to know our patients and helping them achieve what they came to us for, a gorgeous smile! My family is what I enjoy outside of work, my children Courtney and Brandon and my fur babies Bella and Jax. We love music, being outdoors and of course the buckeyes.

If I could give more stars I would. Dr. Karpac and his staff are top notch. He was so patient and kind with my son. Went out of his way to explain everything, even in terms my 9 year old could understand. Service was quick and professional. I recommend this office for anyone, especially if you have kids. I am always concerned about going to Drs that do not specialize in children but I had no worries here. Dr Karpac and his staff are amazing. I look forward to working with them in the future for my sons orthodontic needs.

Couldn't be happier with my decision to have Dr. Karpac be my daughter's orthodontist. Very informative, upbeat and kind. The staff was also wonderful and made the process smooth and simple. As a bonus, my daughter became rather excited to discover the gaming corner!

Great service! From the beginning of the process with setting appointments and working with Tracy to completion of braces application. Tracy was fantastic! The process was seamless and my daughter had a great experience. Dr. Karpac also followed up with a phone call to check in afterwards and I was really appreciative of it.

My daughter got her first few braces placed yesterday. She was nervous but Dr Karpac and staff were amazing to help ease her concerns. Tracey was amazing and explained each thing she was doing as she did. That helped a ton! Love the team!!!

Dr Karpac made my experience with orthodontist terrible. We couldn't finished my braces program because he was so stubborn to just make communication with a fellow doctor who had to do more operations on me. (Not sure what the issue with them was, but I became a victim of it) Dr karpac insisted I become the middle man ( imagine 2 drs operating on you and can't communicate? And you have to translate/ recount those dental names? how does that sounds to anyone? I trusted him to look for my best interest and in the end, he just didn't care and he told me that I get what I paid for. Mind you, I thought I got the braces service everyone gets, I was never notified of luxuries and price variation. but obviously I was being cheap. Dr Karpac needs to learn that, everything isn't about him, money, social profile... Some people actually needs genuine help and advice. People go to him in need of rely help, and whatever conflicts he may have with others, his patients can't be victim.

I have wanted to straighten a few teeth out my whole life and I am finally in a position to be able to afford braces. Dr. Karpac spent literally 20 seconds looking at my mouth, told me braces would give me buck teeth and that I needed a $30k jaw surgery. I left in tears. Thankfully I went elsewhere for a second opinion. They said I am an excellent candidate for braces and I have started treatment with them, it is going great. No buck teeth, no surgery, no lies. I feel pretty confident the Dr. simply didn't feel like doing the work, so he made up an unreasonable situation to get me out of his office instead of telling me he wasn't interested or didn't have the time. Extremely unprofessional. He also has multiple copies of the same degrees posted on his wall to make it look more impressive than it really is. Not to mention the office was dingy, dusty, and the Dr. was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts while attending to patients. Don't go here.

Dr Karpac is top notch. He is an outstanding orthodontist. He took care of all 3 of my children and did a fantastic job with all of them. He always made us feel part of the family. I absolutely love all he staff there too.

Love the staff, always friendly - even at 7:30 in the morning! I like that Dr. Karpac doesn't do unnecessary work "just because". One ortho was ready to put braces on right away, but not Dr. Karpac, and I appreciate that. I think some kids get braces put on way too young and then have to do it again!

I was a patient of Dr. Karpac as an adult which seemed to be rare, at least at this location. I had some teeth separation after losing my retainers years ago. Dr. Karpac seemed confident he would fix the very minor gap that formed with 6 months of wearing a retainer he made me. I followed his dental plan and the gap never closed. Additionally at the beginning of treatment he shaved my teeth slightly to allow the teeth to potentially move closer together. Well it seemed that after all the dental treatment was over the gap that was left was wider due to that shaving (I never agreed to the shaving). I probably saw him for about a year and a half without significant or any decent change. By the end of it he was becoming VERY impatient with me and just wanted me to get braces after all that time. Disappointing experience

We absolutely love Dr. Karpac and his staff. They have been wonderful to receive treatment from over the past couple years. They are very thoughtful in explaining to the patient what steps are needed to get, and keep, beautiful straight teeth! Thank you for giving my daughter a confident smile.
