Dr. James Dow is originally from Belfast, Maine. He graduated in 1984 from Southern CT State University with a B.S. in Biology. He then continued his education at the University of CT School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctorate Degree in 1989.
Dr. Dow did an Externship for Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Hospital. He then worked as an associate in private practice and taught at the University of Connecticut Dental School for a few years. In 1991, he opened his doors in Wallingford, CT located at 341 North Colony Rd. James Dow, DMD Family Dentistry then moved its location in 2002 to 181 North Main St. Wallingford, where it exists today. Dr. Dow served with Connecticut Army and Air National Guard earlier in his career. Dr. Dow is married, resides in Wallingford, and has two sons currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. He has been a passionate boater for many years and travels with family and friends throughout Long Island Sound and beyond.

I am always very satisfied with my experience at Main Street dental. Todd, dental hygienist, does an awesome job explaining procedures and making clients feel comfortable. Dr. Dow gives a thorough exam and is professional and friendly. I highly recommend Main Street Dental.

This was my first time there for a cleaning. Dr Dow is very friendly and professional. Todd the hygenist was very knowledgeable and friendly. The front desk staff is very friendly as well.

I have been a patient of Dr Dows office for years. He and his staff are the best! Their office is clean and inviting. The staff is very friendly and helpful and patient (even when I had to make numerous appt time changes. The dental hygienist s are very proficient ent and make sure you're comfortable during cleanings. Dr Dow himself could not be nicer. He makes sure that you have effective pain relief before during and after any dental procedure and evens calls to check on you the day after. If you're looking for a great dental experience, he and his office are the best!!

I've been going to Dr. Dow's office since I was 8. He hasn't changed! The staff is always wonderful (all of the hygienists are friendly) and the front staff, too.

Honest dentist! I went because I "thought" I had chipped my rear tooth. Dr. Spark did some photos, asked some questions and did a quick "does this hurt, how about this", to which I said "no". Turns out I had some gum sensitivity but beyond that my tooth was fine. He was super nice and basically said see you when you need your next cleaning. Nothing wrong, did not try to talk me into a crown or anything unnecessary. Thanks for your honesty and not treating me like an airhead . Definitely recommend this dental practice!

Front office staff is one of worst I have ever dealt with at any doctor's office. Extremely disrespectful, lack of compassion and care. Would rather lose all my teeth than deal with them. Save yourself time, tons of other dentists in the area with much better office staff.

And as always, Dr. Dow provided timely and professional advice on when I need to fix some challenges with no heavy handed "sales" pitch. Super bedside manner with his client's needs and best interests always at the forefront.

Dr. Dow is a true professional and he also has a wonderful bedside manner. I love his sense of humor. He always tries to give you the easiest and least expensive method for any procedure it doesn't try to sell you on things. He is wonderful

I recently changed to this practice and I found everyone there to be so helpful understanding and considerate. They clarify everything for you and look into the cost so that you can be prepared for any work you might have to have done
