We are a family and cosmetic dental practice located in Mt. Pleasant, SC just off I-526 on Hwy 17. We pride ourselves in being a small practice where our patients are like family. We strive to give personalized attention to help our patients feel more at ease. We believe in the concept of preventive care as a way to maintain optimal dental health. Our goal is to provide dental health care rather than disease care. We understand that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are very important factors in preventing dental disease. Also, some restorative treatments can be considered preventive in that they help our patients avoid major dental problems in the future.

We believe that optimum oral health results primarily from our patients having a greater understanding of their oral condition. This ensures that they are able to make more informed decisions about their dental care. We understand that it is often difficult to understand dental terminology. That is why we utilize intra-oral photography, digital x-rays and models to help our patients visually understand their oral health. Our knowledgeable and caring team is always helpful in answering questions concerning dental needs or various esthetic treatments.

Dr. Harts Philosophy is based on achieving and maintaining complete oral health the harmonious function of teeth, supporting structures, muscles, and joints. If these four areas are balanced, the end result is ideal form and aesthetically pleasing smiles that are both functional and beautiful. This comprehensive approach to dentistry is what many of our patients are looking for. While many of our patients have extremely healthy mouths, some have significant dental problems that require a more comprehensive treatment approach to achieve optimum oral health.

We want to build a foundation of trust with our patients so that you will have less apprehension about visiting the dentist. Some people naturally feel uneasy about dental visits, so if we can help your experience be a relaxing and positive one, we have accomplished a major goal. Each of our team members is dedicated to making sure that you have excellent personalized care in order to make your visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We offer nitrous oxide sedation and oral anti-anxiety medications during dental treatments. Our most popular comfort gadget is our video goggles which our patients can wear over their eyes and enjoy a movie during treatment.

Dr. Hart grew up in the small town of Bennettsville, SC. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Computer Science from The College of Charleston in 1984. After a ten year career in software development, he attended the Medical University of South Carolina where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1998. While at MUSC, he received the Student Integrity and the Student Leadership awards. Since then, Dr. Hart has practiced family and cosmetic dentistry in the East Cooper area of Charleston. Much of that time was spent on the Isle of Palms, but more recently at his new state-of-the-art office in the heart of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Professionally, Dr. Hart is a member of the American Dental Association, the S.C. Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has made a commitment to continuing education to directly benefit his patients. He continues his training at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Study. In addition, he has attended multiple other continuing education courses though the years on a state and national level. He is also active in two local dental study clubs, and he volunteers his time at the Smiles for a Lifetime childrens dental clinic.

Outside of work, Dr. Hart enjoys spending time with his wife, Laurie Ann, and two teenage kids, Ellie and Jay. Their kids activities keep the Harts quite busy. They are members of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Dr. Hart is also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Breakfast Rotary Club. When time permits, Dr. Hart enjoys fitness, playing golf, boating and snow skiing.

Tess has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 23 years. She graduated from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and has additional certificates from MUSC. Tess, a SC native, moved to Mt. Pleasant in 2007. She and her husband, Carl, have three children. She enjoys baking, the great outdoors, traveling and USC Gamecock football.

Liane, Dr. Harts assistant, was born and raised in the Charleston area and has been a dental assistant since 2005. Liane and her husband Wes have two children and a husky named Bailey. They spend a lot of time on the softball fields with their daughter Brielle, and their son Tyler keeps them busy just by being a four-year-old boy! She enjoys spending time out on their land in the upstate, attending softball games, scrapbooking, baking, reading and following the Gamecocks!

Jennifer is a North Carolina native who relocated to Charleston in 2006. She has been Dr. Harts office administrator since her move and brings over 20 years of dental experience to the practice. Jennifer and her husband, Mark, live in West Ashley with their four-legged son, Max. They enjoy golfing, boating, traveling, entertaining friends and spending as much time as possible with Max!
