Dr. James A. Oshetski earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and completed a General Practice Residency program at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). After completing his residency, Dr. Oshetski was invited to serve as the clinical supervisor of the General Practice Residency Program, where for many years he provided lecture and clinical supervision to GPR residents in the surgical and prosthetic aspects of implant rehabilitations.
Dr. Oshetski is a nationally recognized specialist in implant dentistry and restorative dentistry. Utilizing digitally-driven dental technology, Dr. Oshetski focuses on advanced restorative dentistry, sedation dentistry, and dental implant rehabilitation. Dr. Oshetski is an educator, guest lecturer, and speaker for Biohorizons implant systems. He founded Oshetski Implant Seminars and an AAID study club in Maine to enhance educational opportunities in implant dentistry throughout New England. His focus on streamlining treatments, enhancing outcomes, and sharing his experience with other dentists through mentorship and teaching is a testament to his commitment to his patients and profession. Recently, Dr. Oshetski was inducted as a Fellow in the International College of Dentistry, an honor based on service and giving back to the profession and underserved patients.
In his extensive VAMC and private practice experience, Dr. Oshetski has placed and restored thousands of dental implants. Dr. Oshetski is a nationally recognized expert in implant dentistry, achieving Diplomate status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Fellowship with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, a credential bestowed to only 400 dentists worldwide since its inception in 1969. Dr. Oshetski is an active participant in many dental societies and lectures nationally on multiple topics including digital technology, complication management, anterior esthetics, and full-arch rehabilitations.
Dr. Jennifer Brunacini grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She earned a BS and MA in Social Work at the Ohio State University prior to graduating with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State College of Dentistry in 2009. Dr. Brunacini was nominated by her peers to the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an honor society that recognizes integrity and ethics in dentistry. She is also an adjunct clinical professor with the New England College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Brunacini began her career with the National Health Service Corps, and throughout her career, she focused on treating underserved and homeless populations in Cumberland, Sagadahoc, and Waldo counties. Her commitment to public health and general dentistry extends to her volunteer work as a dental provider with Oasis Free Dental Clinic and Greater Portland Health.
Dr. Brunacini enjoys the technical and scientific aspects of dentistry, and she is excited to join our team at James A. Oshetski, DDS as a general dentist and incorporate state-of-the-art dental technology in her general dentistry care. Dr. Brunacini is a compassionate and warm person who combines her skillful approach with patient-centered care to provide exceptional dental treatment. Dr. Brunacini lives with her husband, Brian, her son Leo, and dog Zoe. In her free time, she enjoys reading, skiing, and exploring the ocean.

Amanda joined the practice in October 2018. She brings years of customer service experience. She is excited to be a part of Dr. Oshetskis team and looks forward to building lasting relationships with the patients. When Amanda is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. She also enjoys traveling, cooking, and crafting.
Vanessa has been part of the practice for over 15 years and has worn many different hats during that time. She is committed to the practice and loves the relationships that she has built over the years. When Vanessa is not working she is enjoying the outdoors with her husband or spending quality time with her nieces and nephews
Abby joins us from theUniversity of New England where she was a Dental Assistant and an Infection Control Manager. Abby has been a dental assistant for a little over two years. Her favorite part of assisting is meeting new people. When Abby is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and riding around on her motorcycle.
Jenna joined us as a Dental Assistant in July. She grew up in Maine currently resides in Portland. Her favorite part about being a dental assistant is getting to know her patients and seeing their smiles improve and the confidence it gives them. In Jennas free time she enjoys spending time with her friends, skiing, live music, and her cat Millie. On the weekends you can find Jenna bartending in the Old Port.
Eden attended the University of New England where she played basketball and studied dental hygiene. She was born and raised in Maine and currently lives in Portland. Outside of work, Eden enjoys traveling, live music, and spending time with her family and friends.
Meg graduated magna cum laude in May of 2016, from the University of Maine Augusta- College of Bangor. She was born and raised in the small town of Bradford, Maine. She and her high school sweetheart moved to the Augusta area directly after graduation and have not looked back since! When Meg is out of the office, you are likely to find her camping, boating, causing trouble with her beloved nieces and nephews, or taking adventures with her dog, Annie. She looks forward to providing exceptional oral care for the greater Brunswick area!

I was a patient of Dr. Oshetski for over 10 years until he had his dental hygienist inform me that I was being referred to an Endodontist and a Periodontist. I was shocked! He never spoke to me about it. The office administrator eventually informed me that Dr. Oshetski wants to concentrate on implants and not restorative care and that he would no longer be my dentist. I have since found another dentist and I will eventually need implants, but I would never go back to Dr. Oshetski for anything. informed me that he wanted to concentrate his

I went to see Dr. Oshestki because I had a dental procedure by another dentist who caused me to not be able to open my mouth. In fact I suffered with this since 11/15/21 and had seen 3 other oral surgeons prior to seeing him. I've struggled with not being able to eat anything but either a liquid diet or soft diet while headaches and earaches continued despite 2 rounds of botox. I even spent nearly 2 months not talking as it exacerbated my issues . These other surgeons recommended meditation as well as botox and physical therapy. Fast forward to today. I am over the top impressed with Dr Oshestki and his modern computerized technology which allowed him to see the issue. After my first session I am now able to eat and chew foods that have been off limits since November!!! I left there today after my session second and feel better then I have in years!!! As a side note, I had a foot issue too, unbeknownst to me, that was also related to my jaw issue. I had never mentioned it to the dentist, but after I left his office after first treatment, I suddenly realized the foot pain disappeared. That is when I recalled that foot pain was noticed within two weeks of that fateful first dental encounter. His computerized approach allows him to see what others cannot detect! Incidentally his staff is outstanding too!! I highly recommend Dr. Oshestki!!! Many thanks! Bev

My appointment was for a cleaning... The hygienist was exceptionally professional and informational throughout the exam. I also had a tooth that needed attention and it was taken care of at this appointment. I would highly recommend these professionals for all dental services.

Dr. Oshetski answered my questions and prayers. If you are suffering and need help, or seeking answers to un/misdiagnosed issues please take a few moments to read my story and consider calling Dr. Oshetski. If you are looking to start a new treatment you will be in expert hands should you choose Dr. Oshetski. What I learned after finding Dr. Oshetski is listen to your body, believe in yourself and never give up - help IS available with the right Doctor. Four and a half years prior and following full mouth rehabilitation surgery my oral function was severely impaired /lost. During that time the original treating Prosthodontist attached a number of diagnoses to post surgical issues and symptoms .... Psychosomatic and poor Patient adaptation topped the list. Diagnostic testing/data was minimal and treatment options relied heavily on prior clinical experience with other patients. Before COVID ever happened, I sadly came to understand what social isolation meant as a result of my personal experience and suffering during years of failed treatment. Of other Doctors declining to evaluate or treat my case. It was a devastating and confusing time physically, mentally and socially. When the time came that I had to make a change or live as an oral cripple I struggled with my own confidence "What Dr. would want to take on the complications and complexities associated with my case?" "Why would he/she believe the issues were real?" "Can I find the right Dr. with the right expertise and commitment to evidence-based medicine/ best technology willing and able to treat my case?". Thankfully for myself Dr. O is unafraid of technical challenges. In fact I believe he rather enjoys doing whatever it takes to master problems. He is a deep and critical thinker who after a year under his care I'm pretty sure it's fair to say he thinks about his cases in his sleep. Dr. O is dedicated to continued learning and advanced technologies and excels in treating complex interdisciplinary cases. The quality and precision performed by the Dental Lab used is unparalleled. If something is possible Dr. O will either know it or consult with/refer to other experts to find the best answers. No stone is left unturned under the care of Dr. O. In my case there would prove to be many "rocks" to look under in order to undo and properly redo. Bonus alert: Dr. O has a great personality, sense of humor and taste in office music. My treatment plan to correct issues is complicated surgically, prosthetically and clinically. The office environment makes a long day seem short. Calmness and kindness are reassuring qualities. Getting it right for the patient matters most. Where I am today seemed impossible a year ago. Years of tears and fears are being replaced by miles of smiles! Dr. Oshetski along with w/colleague experts (Dr. John Droter/Dr. Robert Kerstein) are optimistic restoring an acceptable pain free envelope of function is possible once corrective procedures/treatment complete. Dr. O and his Team provide a structured planning process and highly involve their patient. They see their role as helping patients be fully informed in our current condition, offering best in class treatment options, clearly explaining risks & benefits. The Oshetski Dental Team is more than people just doing their job. They are highly qualified, genuinely care and make sure you know and feel it. At the time it was hard and a bit scary leaving behind the people who shared my original journey. Who we have by our side matters. A lot. Dr.Oshetski's office is where I found hope and help. I knew I belonged, that they cared from the first visit. That Dr. O could and would help me. I hope pics taken moments after last stitches following surgeries on separate visits might offer a sense of reassurance. You can see the positive atmosphere that exists. Thumbs up 100%. Dr. O sets the bar for an excellent and transparent Doctor-Patient relationship established on mutual trust and outstanding communication.
