Dr. Jaewoong Choi was born and raised in Seoul, Korea and moved to Bay Area during his high school. He graduated from Monta Vista high school and advanced to University of California at Berkeley, where studied Molecular and Cell Biology with emphasis in Neuroscience. He was accepted to University of California at San Francisco, School of Dentistry.
He received Health Professional Scholarship from the U.S. Army for his dental school. Upon graduation, he was selected for Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program in Army Dental Activity at Fort Benning, Georgia. He honed his knowledge and skills in all fields of general dentistry including endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery to make him an excellent general dentist. During his 5 years in the Army, he was stationed in Georgia, Korea and Louisiana. A lot of young American soldiers needed root canal therapy and he gained tremendous experience by providing root canal therapy to those soldiers, yet he was humbled at the complexity of the root canals and the art of root canal therapy and decided to seek further education in endodontics.

I was referred to Dr Choi by my dentist who had performed a root canal that failed after several months. I was in extreme pain and very nervous when I arrived at Dr Choi's office. He was very calm and explained the procedure upfront. He gave me two long injections to numb the tooth..this is the first time in my life that the injections did not hurt. No pain during drilling either. This was a very different experience from the original root canal procedure that hurt and became problematic. I will go back in a week for the completion of the work and am very thankful to Dr Choi and his staff.

I was recommended by a friend who is a general dentist. It is hard to think of a root canal operation as enjoyable, but it actually was. Dr Choi was very skillful, knowledgable yet calm and kind. I'm hoping never to need another root canal but if I had too would definitely go back to him.

I really cannot recommend Dr. Choi enough. When my first cavity & subsequent filling fell by the wayside, I saw Dr. Choi for a root canal. I was traumatized by dental work and had severe jaw/tooth pain leading up to my appointment. Dr. Choi was kind, thorough in his explanations, and made sure I felt comfortable and safe throughout the entire procedure. I'm super thankful I went to Dr. Choi and only wish there were more medical professionals like him.

Amazing Endodontist I am a general dentist and I have worked with several endodontists, but Dr.Choi is my favorite. Excellent work and great patient care.

Dr Choi did a great root canal treatment for me given a very short notice in the early morning. The pain is very minimum during the treatment and there is no discomfort in the following week. And he is also very helpful and explains what the treatment does and what is expected. I feel the cost is fair and highly recommend Dr. Choi to anyone needs urgent and good dental procedures.

I feel very comfortable with Dr. Choi and I trust him a lot. I have severe dental anxiety but with him my anxiety isn't so bad! I have had more than 3 root canals worked on by Dr. Choi and I have been overall satisfied. I will only see Dr. Choi and no other! I have found him to be very competent, precise, thorough, professional, ethical, caring, gentle, very accommodating, reassuring and kind:) I highly recommend him.
