Dr. Jacobsen attended dental school at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He graduated with honors in 2002 and returned to his childhood home of Astoria, Oregon, where he practiced for the next eight years. In 2010, after reaching his lifetime quota of rain, fish and chips, and trees, he and his family decided to make a drastic change they sold their house and moved to sunny Central Washington. In 2010, Dr. Jacobsen assumed the practice of longtime Ephrata dentist Dr. Doug Beaudry. In 2014, he merged practices with another retiring longtime Ephrata dentist, Dr. Gale Campbell.

Dr. Jacobsen strives to provide the most progressive, up-to-date dental care for his patients. He avidly pursues continuing education and has completed the 500 hours required for Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. He also passed a rigorous 4-hour comprehensive test on all aspects of dentistry required for that award. He participates in a monthly Spear Study Club, where he and other general dentists and specialists discuss complex dental treatment planning. He has served as President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Grant County Dental Society.

He believes in being active in the community. He is President of the Autism Society of Grant County, participates in Rotary, and serves as a volunteer leader in his church. He has sponsored and made donations to the Grant School Walk-a-thon, Columbia Ridge Glow Run, the American Cancer Societys Relay for Life, the Coulee City Last Stand Rodeo, the Autism Society of Grant County, the ACH Foundation, the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce, and Ephrata High School.

He and his wife Laura have 3 children, and they feel that Ephrata is a great place to raise a family. Hes had a fun time learning about the rich history of the area, and he also enjoys all the nearby mountain and road biking opportunities. He and his oldest son have weekly hiking adventures and have explored many many miles of rocks, lakes, and sagebrush. They have both been very fascinated with the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project as well as all the Ice Age Flood features. If he gets to sit in one place long enough, he also enjoys reading, playing the piano, and painting watercolors.
