Dr. Jacob Layer and the members of our team are dedicated to serving our community with advanced treatments and comprehensive education. I was born and raised here in the Rogue Valley and attended the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls where I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and a minor in Psychology. In addition to oral health, my professional passion and focus is natural whole-body health. Everything is intricately connected within us and around us. My husband and I met during school at OIT and together we have 2 wonderfully goofy kids. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my kiddos and the ever growing menagerie of animals on our mini farm.
I am originally from the Bay Area, but moved here with my family to Medford when I was very young. I graduated from High School in 2004, after which I attended Abdill Career College of Dental Assisting. I worked as a dental assistant for a year and a half in Eugene, OR then returned to Medford in 2006 and have been working as an assistant here ever since. I now have my EFDA certificate which I'm so proud of!
I became a proud member of Dr. Jake Layer's dental team in February 2014. Working as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant has given me a fantastic opportunity to help educate and care for the best patients Southern Oregon has to offer. Outside of work, I enjoy time with my husband of over 40 years, our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Together we enjoy camping, cooking, and watching movies. In my spare time I love to kick off my shoes, grab my laptop and write fiction.

In 2018 I graduated from Southern Oregon Dental Assisting Education. I enjoy shooting, camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with my husband, two children, and two dogs. Currently I am working towards becoming EFDA certified and Radiology certified.

I have been a patient since 2007. It has been the only time in my life I look forward to going to the dentist. Doctor Layer and his entire staff make me feel like family. The atmosphere in his office is full of loving concern for all of his patients. I highly recommend Doctor Layer to anyone seeking dental care that is not only professional but compassionate!

Dr. Layer and his amazing staff are incredible. Professional, courteous and friendly. I had some extensive periodontal work and Dr. Layer provided excellent care and was diligent in the follow up work. Would highly recommend this team1

Usually avoid giving 5 stars. Dr. Jake n staff took care of my fangs for over a decade. Dude is a pro. Good bedside manner does solid work. Everyone else in office was efficient n friendly. The other thing I really really liked was the girl at desk runs your insurance before procedures to give your out of pocket cost. Btw the crown did fine Jacob. Greetings from Florida.

Wonderful experience at Dr. Jake's office. Kind, considerate and above all an excellent Doctor and Staff. I had a crown fit the first time with no adjustment. It has never happened in my 60 years of going to the Dentist. If you are looking for a dentist. Look no further. Stop right here and give them a call.

I saw Dr Layer for the first time about a month ago and was very impressed by his professionalism, patience and explanation of the work he was to do. During the examination he carefully explained the work that needed to be done and the process he would use. I highly recommend his practice for anyone who is struggling with dentistry, he makes the process as painless as possible and eases the anxiety of dental work

Absolutely amazing. I was in the hunt for a dentist because I needed one ASAP. I started calling around on a Thursday morning. After calling 3 offices and no answer, I called Dr Layer's office. Not only did they answer and were actually open, they found a way to squeeze me in that same day. The entire staff at the office was super nice and professional. Dr Layer was extremely friendly. The whole time I was there, I had this strong feeling that I picked the right people for my dental care. I was even more convinced of this a few days later, on a Sunday evening, when I got a call from the doc himself checking to see how I was feeling. Which was an experience I've never had before. I couldn't believe it. That was the icing on top of a really delicious cake for me. I strongly recommend these guys. You won't regret it.

Utmost respect for the professional people at Dr. Layers office! Dr. Layer is expedient in his patient service and eloquent in his speech. He is objectively insightful and has kindness and care for his clientele. His administrative staff, Casey and Carley are equally commendable and go over 120% for their patients. They regularly follow up and keep patients aware of appointments. They see a schedule change that could assist the patient and make the changes. The hygienist, Jocelyn, is warm and has an outstanding attitude. Her laughter, we need this! Her stories make you remember the good things about life. She is professional in her work and is gentle on your teeth. If I missed giving someone credit, just know that I couldn't remember your name. Your services have been impeccable! I appreciate you so much. I would fully recommend this dental care.
