Dr. Shih has a bachelors degree and a master's degree in engineering which has allowed him to have a deeper understanding of tooth movement. He has maximized efficiency which means a smoother treatment for patients like you.
Jacksonville Modern Orthodontics supports your community. Part of your braces support Communities in Schools to help at-risk students graduate. Dr. Shih regularly donates his time reading to kids at Wood Acres Elementary school, tutoring kids STEM-related classes like robotics camp at DuPont Middle School and provides free dental care at Sulzbacher dental clinic.

Before Dr. Peter Shih studied and trained to become an Orthodontist, he received his Bachelor of Science in Biomechanical Engineering from Washington University in 2002, and went on to earn his Master of Science from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Computer Engineering in 2006. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from NOVA Southeastern University in 2015 and completed his Orthodontic Residency at Jacksonville University in 2017.
Dr. Shih gives back to the community by participating in programs like Volunteer in Medicine, which provides free dental services to low-income families. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Outside of Jacksonville Modern Orthodontics, Dr. Shih is an avid swimmer and competed in the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim in 2010 - a 4.4-mile open water swim across the Chesapeake Bay in Baltimore. Hes written iPhone/iPad software to help students practice for board exams and scripts to personalize emails, and 3D printed equipment that can be used in the clinic.

I love this place. The staff is super friendly. The doctor is amazing. Very welcoming. I have a severe case and it's his first and he is taking it on. He's honest. They are budget friendly and will work with you. I'm so happy that I chose this company.

I can't say enough about the great people at Jax Modern. Dr. Peter and Jessica are super genuine and caring. They are very personable individuals. As life would have it, balancing family and schedules has always been an issue for me but Jessica has never turned me away. You are treated like a family member of Jax Modern Orthodontics. Very clean. Very professional. Very friendly. The Dr. is very kind and knowledgeable. We never have a problem getting in if there's an issue (ex. bracket coming loose). I am very happy with our decision to have our three children treated here. 1/3 just finished her orthodontic treatment today and we are so happy with the results.

I had a great experience with the folks over here. Dr. Shih and his supporting staff do a stellar job providing top notch care. They were able to work with me when some unexpected life events happened that disrupted my care. I am so happy with the way that my teeth look now! I have been self conscious of my teeth since I was a teenager and I'm just really grateful to not feel that way anymore, I just wish I had not waited until I was in my thirties to get it done. I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody looking for orthodontic care.

Jacksonville Modern Orthodontist is not only a great Ortho but builds the best experience for each of their patience. After hearing great reviews and receiving some recommendations I am over the moon with my decision to start my child's braces experience with this orthodontist. The employees are phenomenal, always there for any questions or concerns that we might have including payment plans. The Doctor is very kind and personable. He's provided us with a plan and understanding of what to expect over the next few months/years.

Super happy I was referred here! The girls are amazing and so sweet! I even got a rose on Mother's Day! The process of getting my braces was extremely smooth and the doctor was awesome! So happy! Adding a year later that Dr. Shih has an awesome spotify playlist LOL. Also adding that my experience this past year has been great! My teeth are already so different its amazing. Love the staff and I'm always happy when I leave my adjustments!
