After graduating from Amarillo High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology at West Texas A&M University in 1994. Dr. Banks earned the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2001 at the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Panhandle District Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Banks married Melissa in 1996 and they have two children, Aiden and Madi. They are members of First Baptist Church Amarillo. Dr. Banks is an Eagle Scout and is the Scoutmaster of Troop 80 Boy Scouts. His hobbies include scuba diving, mountaineering and shooting sports.

Dr. J Stephen Banks is absolutely amazing! I had a gum and tooth issue and was able to be seen same day!!He fixed me up with antibiotics and I'm taking my first one now! He and his staff are so delightful and knowledgeable! I love seeing their faces! I even got my tween daughter an appointment scheduled for her cleaning latter on

Was a very positive experience. I did feel like the cleaning was poorly done compared to other cleanings I have had. She barely touched my teeth and said I hardly had any plaque but I know I have a lot of plaque everytime I go to the dentist. Other than that it was great:)

Everyone and everything was great! The staff was so helpful and showed that they care about patients. Doctor Bank's was great as usual. I have a serious illness and Doctor and staff all are praying for me! That is outstanding!! Loved hearing Christian music playing!

Dr. Banks and his entire staff are a fantastic team! I am a big sissy when it comes to the dentist, they have always been understanding, patient and gone above and beyond to try to make me more comfortable. The standard of care provided is amazing and the staff genuinely cares about the patient. Dr. Banks continues his and his staffs education and continually updates his equipment with better and more effective technologies. I still don't like the dentist, but Dr Banks and his staff make the experience less nerve racking, almost pleasant. I can without a doubt recommend Dr. Banks and his staff!
