Dr. John Han was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia and earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in 1997. He then spent four years at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry.
Dr. Han spent the next 13 years practicing dentistry in northern Virginia and the D.C. metro area. During this period, he started a practice in Reston, VA focused on quality, personalized care. Sharing time and compassion with his patients has always been a vital part of his philosophy, and he brings those values to his practice today as a distinguished Midlothian dentist.
During his years in D.C., Dr. Han joined several study clubs with leading specialists in the region. While hes attended numerous courses, like the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry annual conference, he discovered the immeasurable value of mentorships early in his career. Hours of focused time with the professions best clinicians elevated his skills to the level his patients deserve.
As a leading Midlothian dentist, Dr. Han is committed to the latest technologies in dentistry, and he never hesitates to bring innovations into his practice that serve patients best. He also values helping those in need, both locally and internationally, and has participated in dental mission trips to Honduras and Paraguay.
When hes not in the office, he loves spending time with his wife and three kids and their close-knit, extended family. Dr. Han enjoys fishing, the outdoors, and a role as a part-time rock climbing instructor. He also looks for every opportunity to spend productive time with youth in our community.
White and White was established in 2004 by Drs Scott White and Pranee White. In 2017, with plans of retirement, they entrusted their practice to the care of Dr John Han. Now, as Dr. Pranee White has embarked on her much-deserved retirement, Dr Han has renamed the practice to J. Han Dental Design to reflect his goal of excellent dentistry. While the name has changed, Dr. Han's commitment to providing exceptional, and compassionate care has not. He continues to develop the best methods to provide a dental experience that is set apart, gentle, and comprehensive while remaining pain free. We will always strive to work with and educate our patients about their dental options so that they can make the best decisions about their dental care and feel comfortable with Dr. Han as their Midlothian dentist.

Dr Han is a nice and competent dentist. I was presented with a nearly $900 bill after being a patient for over a year. It was blamed on the former office manager. I found it incredibly unprofessional to throw this person entirely under the bus while also demanding I pay this insane sum. I ended up making a payment plan that I immediately regretted. I should have instead had them bill my insurance again and go about my business. I will never return and will tell my friends and family the same.

My first visit with Dr. Han, I was in a two year battle with depression and anxiety. My husband didn't even tell me I had an appointment until we drove into the parking lot. I had to have nitrate oxide just for a cleaning. Later, I would take 2 anxiety pills and have nitrate oxide. During this time, I received care and concern from all the staff. When my "Magic Pills" kicked in and I got my life back, the staff was amazed. They had only seen the depressed me. Dr. Han said he was getting chills from my telling of my story. So that day, he said I needed a new crown. The next time I went, he said why did I say you needed a crown? I told him he was so amazed with the new me, he said I did. We laughed. Now I visit the dentist with no meds. I love everyone at Dr. Han's office. They are always so friendly and helpful and interested in me. I never feel rushed even though they are busy. This practice is a breath of fresh air from the previous dental offices I've experienced. All of the staff are friendly and personable. The place is exceptionally clean as well. Dr. Han is also friendly and very detailed. Surprisingly he actually talks with his patients, which Believe me, from my experience that is not as common as it should be. I'm so grateful I got referred here and will definitely recommend!

I did not have a dentist in Richmond when, on a Sunday night, a bridge came loose from its moorings. My wife has been going to Dr. Han for years and called to get me in on Monday morning. Although they were fully booked, they graciously saw me that day. Everyone was very polite and professional and kept apologizing for my wait time even though I didn't have a scheduled appointment. I was very impressed with the way I was treated and am glad to say that I now have a dentist in Richmond.

Caring, compassionate, focused on making every visit pleasant.......yep...... I am describing a dentist and his staff. Dr.Han and his team take the fear out of going to the dentist. His knowledgeable and specifically designed solutions for me and my husband provide us with the comfort of knowing that our health is greatly benefited while creating an atmosphere of actually wanting to go to the dentist. Dr. Han's recommendation for an alternative to the sleep apnea machine that my husband used to use has been the best solution to prevent his snoring but also provides a happier sleep because there is no machine anymore I personally had the whitening done on my teeth and happily enjoy smiling more than ever. I just cannot express enough wonderful experiences that we have had. He and his team actually create a desire to want to go to the dentist and we are grateful for that.
