J.D. Murray DDS & Associates - General dentist in Atlanta, GA

Dr. Murray practices dentistry with the utmost care and concern for his patients. For over 20 years his patients have known him to be the Atlanta dentist who Caters to Cowards. He focuses on educating his patients on the benefits of good dental health as well as how it relates to our overall health. Photography, art collecting, reading and traveling are among some of his hobbies. He has been happily married for over 20 years to Celeste Murray and they share three wonderful children, Jovanni, Jhovan and Christina.

Dr. Murray is a graduate of Howard University where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Zoology. Later he received his D.D.S degree in 1982. He immediately joined the U.S Army where he served three years as a Captain in the U.S Dental Corps. He was owner and director of the Atlanta Institute of Dental Careers; a training institute teaching students to become above average assistants and office personnel for the profession of dentistry. Dr. Murray started his private practice in 1986 and has continued to be very active in his community. He was given a Certificate of Excellence, as well as, the Community Excellence Award. As a part of community involvement he headed the Good Deed Contest for school aged kids. Dr. Murray received a degree from The American Orthodontic Society in 1996 and the American College of Oral Implantology in 2000.

As a continuous student of the practice in dentistry, Dr. Murray is always increasing his knowledge and keeping abreast of the most hi-tech and cutting edge procedures. He is one of the first to be part of the Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in the State of Georgia. He is also a member of the American Academy of Implant dentists, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

At J.D. Murray DDS & Associates, we provide clear braces throughout the East Point area. Straight teeth are important for your overall oral health. When teeth are crooked, they can become stained and infected more easily. By straightening teeth, we can improve your appearance and decrease the risk of getting cavities at the same time. We can also address issues that you may have with your jaw by aligning your bite. Clear braces are truly a comprehensive way and discreet way to address oral health concerns.

We understand that while many people want to have straighter teeth, many teens and adults are uncomfortable with the traditional metal braces on their teeth for more than one year. While they are not as discreet as people wish, metal braces are an effective tool for straightening teeth. The procedure works by placing a metal bracket onto the surface of each tooth and running a wire through those brackets. It is impossible not to notice when someone is wearing traditional metal braces. While the treatment works, it can also negatively impact a persons' appearance while doing so. This has led many people to seek out a better option, one that we provide.

At J.D. Murray DDS & Associates, we offer clear alternatives for adults and teens the greater East Point area. We can straighten teeth and move them into the perfect position so the patient has a beautiful and radiant straight smile. If you have crooked teeth, unsightly gaps between your teeth or a misaligned bite, then we can help to correct these issues and more. Clear braces work just as effectively as metal braces but with some major improvements. Clear braces are much more difficult to notice, making them ideal for busy professionals, teens and those that do not want to negatively impact their current appearance during the process.

There are several types of clear and barely visible options to choose. One operates similarly to traditional metal braces where we place a bracket onto each tooth and thread a wire between the brackets. The difference is that instead of being made out of metal, the brackets for clear braces consists of a tooth-colored resin that blends in with the natural tooth. The wire is also tooth-colored so that the braces themselves are almost invisible and difficult to see. We find that this solution works well for teens and adults that are able to practice proper dental hygiene with the clear braces. Otherwise, food can stain the brackets. This solution is an excellent alternative to traditional braces and is just as effective at addressing all oral health concerns.

Clear braces also come in the form of aligners. Clear aligners look like a full retainer that surrounds the teeth and are worn on the upper and lower teeth. Aligners are more convenient to wear than metal braces since patients can remove them when necessary. One of the major concerns that people have with wearing braces is that they do not come off until the treatment is complete. If, for example, you get braces then decide to get married, you will either have braces in your wedding pictures or need to pay to remove them and reinstall them after. Simultaneously, if you have a big presentation at work and want to impress a client, your braces cannot come off for the meeting. This leaves many adults apprehensive about committing to a two-year treatment plan. We understand that appearance is important for more than vanity. It impacts your ability to create a professional image and retain your own self-image. As a East Point provider of clear braces and aligners, we make it so that you do not have to compromise your appearance or lifestyle while straightening teeth; aligners are a key component of that.

We treat both teens and adults and understand that both can benefit from similar treatment options. While children may not be able to wear clear braces, teens can wear clear braces if they take proper care of them. The main difference between clear braces for teens and adult braces, is that teens may need to use their aligners for a longer period of time. With such a busy schedule, we expect teens to remove their aligners more frequently to do things like play sports.

An Invisalign dentist helps people who have teeth alignment issues. Many of these folks are turned off by the idea of having conspicuous metal braces in their mouth, and that prevents them from getting the treatment they need. Many would rather live with poorly aligned teeth than endure the attention braces draw to a person's

Are you thinking about getting Invisalign and wondering: Does Invisalign really work? Invisalign is one of the most popular forms of clear aligner treatment. However, determining whether or not Invisalign really works is important if you are considering treatment. A common question is whether Invisalign causes any tooth problems, and we seek to answer that

CEREC crowns have become a popular choice among individuals looking to repair or restore teeth that have become damaged or decayed. These types of dental crowns offer an array of advantages that other restorations cannot bring to the table. However, because they are still considered to be rather new to dentistry, some individuals have questions

I really did like this place until they start to sadly show me several red flags . 1)PHONE LINES ARE ALWAYS BUSY 2) The front desk RECEPTIONISTS ARE ALWAYS CLUELESS as to my TREATMENTS the DAY of EVERY APPOINTMENT. 3)Mind you I'm taking DAYS OFF from WORK under the ASSUMPTION that I'm getting the TREATMENTS DONE.. 4)Such a waste of time. Then they will call you the day BEFORE your appointments and INFORM you of your co-pay. WOW

Since One Star, is my only option. That's what the Dr (?)gets. NO STARS should be an option. My frustration makes it difficult, even TODAY, 2mos. later to articulate. Long, story short. The Dr(?)/dentist didn't even bother TO LOOK, in my mouth? His whole demeanor, was as if I came in, just to bother him???His comments concerning MY ISSUE'S, were RUDE,and judgemental?, as if I DIDN'T KNOW, my own, dental issues. The staff were nice, however, on my second AND LAST, appointment, NO ONE, seemed TO KNOW and or have a record of what my appointment was for? Still, waiting on my, refund, they know why. And had to pay $17. for a PHOTO COPY/a price of paper of my x-rays. Not to mention what my insurance paid. It's so very disappointing how this office/Dr Murray, will take your money, provide sh*ty service, yet continue to stay in business.

JD Murray himself is an excellent dentist, but I've been calling for days and hours and no one answers the phone. So I have no other choice but to select a new long term dentist. Your customer support is the frontline of your business. I can't even book online.

I spent a lot of money here and they are the worst.. customer service is terrible. Don't return calls at all nor do they give after care without trying to charge.. I will never give them a referral. My experience has been bad since I got my teeth done and didnt owe them any money.

The staff was extremely kind. It's culturally diverse which is great for the area. One thing I loved was that they didn't try to up sale anything. They simply told me what I needed.

Dr. Murray is the best Dentist I have ever been to in Georgia! He is located in East Point and I have never been to any dentist where you cannot feel the Novocain being injected into your gums!! He is very nice and patient and concerned about your well-being. The staff is awesome as well! I've never been to a dentist where everyone is awesome!! I recommend Dr. Murray to everyone!!! You will not feel any pain and you will continue to come back like I'm doing!! Thank you Dr. Murray and staff!! I will definitely be back!!!

Unsanitary at its finest. Someone tried to get my Xrays then i noticed how much dirt and oil was on the equiptment, when I spoke up about it, an older lady who overheard my concern came and immediately cleaned it and also suggested to the young lady to change to plastic protective cover also that I questioned. That was just nasty! I started to leave but I told myself to stay so I can look around to scope out the place more and the further I got in, it looked like a hole in the wall type dentistry smh. Then the hygienist asks me if "I had cavities???" like, come again?? Ughhh so much more happened here while I visited too but I'd be writing a book!! Don't waste your time, ok? Of course I WON'T be returning

This is by far the most unprofessional dentistry I have ever dealt with. If you can somehow get to the part where they actually work on your mouth, you're good... If not, prepare for a rude front desk experience... no answered calls during business hours.. and cancelled appointments an hour prior to your visit because someone decides not to do their job last minute. I will never go to this dentistry ever again.

The staff was nice but my procedure was horrible. The dentist gave me fillings instead of crowns on my front teeth smh and the fillings doesn't even match my teeth color. The fillings were horrible and the whole time I was in the back I felt rushed to get me out of there. I do not recommend them for any insurance nor out of pocket money. I don't even smile any more because my front teeth are embarrassing and ugly.

I have not been seen by them. I called them today for an emergency appointment to be seen due to already going to the hospital and being treated for my face swelling and how much pain I was in. I explained all of this to the receptionist there who was rude and even after explaining my jaw still being swollen and pain unbearable I was told by that receptionist they met their quota for walk ins that day n I asked if she could see about the next day she never checked or talked to the dentist she immediately said to me we don't have any openings until April 18th n then she told me call a different office n hung up. This dentist off from my reading is not as it seems and who ever that receptionist is needs to be fired. They need to replace her with someone that enjoys their job and is actually there to help people instead of not being helpful when I said I went to the hospital and was given antibiotics and pain meds and her still not try to even see if I would be able to be seen or squeeze in.

My initial appointment on 11/01/21 went smoothly the staff were friendly (so I thought) and Dr. Murray was pleasant & made me feel comfortable. I then had two appointments scheduled with them in December, both of whom were rescheduled on multiple occasions, to the point of me asking the lady on the phone " when will I be seen this is my fourth reschedule my mouth is uncomfortable." (I was to receive a cap.) she stated that Dr. Murray was out of the office. she asked if I wanted to go to somewhere else, I said No. She then said, they will be calling me back with a reschedule date. Never did!!! I called back after 3 weeks of not hearing anything. The phone was going straight to voicemail as if I had been blocked. I went to check my email.. Nothing as if I never had an appointment with them I can't find a single email.. If I didn't have paperwork I'd swear I was losing it. Yeah, So the one star is for the staff!!!!
