Some Kinds of Dental EmergenciesAll kinds of dental emergencies can happen because of unexpected impact on your teeth, like chipped teeth, knocked out teeth, cracked teeth, lost teeth, or loose teeth. If any of these occur to you, it is vital that you visit the dentist immediately.

Broken or Cracked Teeth:A cracked or broken tooth can happen because of sports injuries, car accidents, fighting, biting too hard on food, accidental falls, and much more. What most people do not consider when they think about broken teeth happen is cavities. Cavities can weaken your teeth which can lead to fractures or uncomfortable chipping.

Teeth with large portions broken off can often become very painful due to exposed nerves and internal damage. Teeth with smaller cracks or fractures may or may not be painful and can be more difficult to detect.

Toothaches:Prolonged tooth pain is usually attributed to a broken tooth, new cavities, or tooth decay underneath an older filling. Also, toothaches can be caused by tooth damage because of grinding or clenching. It is important to see your dentist right away if you are experiencing continual toothaches.

Swollen or Sore Gums:When gums begin to swell, it is usually because of an infection. Gum disease or gum infections can occur when plaque builds up because leftover food gets lodged in between your teeth and accumulates when one doesnt floss daily. One can try to gently floss or brush the trouble area to clear any plaque or rinse the affected area with warm salt water. However, when experiencing sore or swollen gums, it is important to see your dentist as quickly as possible.
