Dr. Hasan Yap is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist who has over two decades of dental experience. His advanced training and education allow him to offer a variety of dental services for even the toughest of cases, including implant-retained All-on-4 dentures. Committed to the highest level of care, Dr. Yap ensures that each of his patients get the results they desire. He is joined by Dr. Smith, who combine their years of training to offer the best cosmetic and restorative treatment options available. From a young age, Dr. Yap has always loved the scientific field and being able to work directly with his hands. From there, the dental field seemed like a perfect fit for his strengths and he was right!
Dr. Yap completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Universidad de Panama before completing a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Florida. Immediately following this, he was accepted to a three-year Prosthodontics Residency Program at NOVA Southeastern University, where he served as Chief Resident and focused on full mouth rehabilitation, the surgical placement of implants, and cosmetic dentistry. His skillset was broadened even further by obtaining a Prosthodontics Certification and publishing independent research on dental implants that helped pioneer the advancement of the All on Four protocol.
Dr. Smith first discovered that dentistry was good fit for his strengths when he was doing volunteer work for his college pre-med program. He quickly developed a genuine passion for the work that hasnt waned throughout the multiple decades of his career. Currently, he is surrounded by a great staff and looks forward to caring for wonderful patients every day.
Dr. Smith attended the University of South Florida in Tampa for his undergraduate career, completing two degrees in chemistry and biology. He then pursued his doctorate at Emory University in Atlanta, graduating with Doctor of Dental Surgery. Over the past 35+ years, he has continued to indulge his love of learning by pursuing additional training in phases of dentistry, including advanced restorative care, occlusion work, implant dentistry, soft tissue and bone grafting, endodontics, periodontics, and even practice management. He has studied at countless prestigious institutions, including the L.D. Pankey Institute, the Dawson Academy, the Misch International Implant Institute, and more. Dr. Smith and his wife Sylvia have been married for 30 years and counting. They have a grown son named Eric and a daughter-in-law named Saige. Some of his hobbies outside of the dental field include real estate, house renovations, and running/exercise. Hes always got some new project on the horizon he likes to be kept busy!

Beautiful clean dental office. Dr Yap and his staff are friendly and comforting. Nobody likes going to the dentist but, Dr Yap and his staff always go one step further by explaining options in their treatment plan and generally care. It all helps with dental anxiety.I had a filling done on Monday and it went very well, his practice should have been called Gentle Dental. Thanks Dr Yap and Staff

The staff at Island City is very responsive and accommodating. Dr Yap explains each step of a procedure as he is performing it and takes time to answer questions in detail. Nobody likes to go to a dentist, but when you do, this is the place to go because they deliver fast and friendly service, attention to detail, and outstanding results. In addition to routine preventative care, the team has provided a crown and a remarkable whitening experience that included ongoing maintenance products.

He lied to me about my tooth and let me believe I had a cracked tooth when all I had was a cracked crown, pulled it for $700 (another slap) (when I would have took a new crown). Update 9/1/22: 5+ opinions and estimates up to $48,000 to attempt to repair the damage caused. My face, bite and smile will never be the same. So far a nightmare for 4 months and now I may have to leave the country and my job to afford repairs! The absolute worse dentist experience in my life as I continue to bleed money in search of repairs to my face and bite. I want to die right now!! oh and all the 5 star comments here are left by burner accounts for higher rating and are posted daily.

Harmony did an excellent and thorough job with my cleaning. I was really sorry to see that Lily is no longer at the front desk. She's been there for 15 years or more. Also, Harmony is now the 2nd or 3rd replacement for cleaning. I like continuity and hope Harmony stays for a few years. The only negative about this place is that I had to ask for the music and then, when it came on, you couldn't even hear it. They must fix this because music definitely helps most of us who do not like going to the dentist. FIX IT!!!
