Dr. Gordon Isbell was born and raised in Gadsden. He attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga. He was an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Award. He received his BS degree in Chemistry from Auburn University. He received his DMD degree from the University of Alabama Dental School in 1981. Dr. Isbell is an avid proponent of Continuing Education in dentistry, he received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1989 and went on to receive his Masters in the Academy in July, 1996. Dr. Isbell served as President of the Alabama Chapter of the AGD in 1990 and the AGDs Board of Directors for the state. He is a member of the Alabama Dental Association. He has served as the chairman of the national Group Benefits Council for the AGD. Dr. Isbell is past Regional Director and National Trustee for the AGD for the Alabama, Georgia, and North and South Carolina. Dr. Isbell served as Chairman of the American Dental Association Council on the Dental Practice Nationally. He has served on the National Health Information Infrastructure Task Force for the ADA and on numerous committees and task forces for the profession of dentistry nationally. In June of 2015 he was named distinguished service award winner for Academy of General Dentistry in San Francisco. In July he was voted to the Board of Trustees Alabama Dental Association. Dr. Isbell had a number of speaking engagements in 2016: in January he spoke to the ADPAC Board on Alumni Affairs and in June he spoke to Junior and Senior dental students at the Howard Gamble Memorial Lecture for AGD at the UAB Alumni Association. In March of 2016 he was awarded the Jack Wilson Award from the American Dental Political Action Committee for his years of dedicated service to Political and Legislative Action. He has served on multiple committees, councils and boards in 2016: The Alumni Awards Committee- UAB School of Dentistry, The George Petrie Society- Auburn University, College of Math and Science COSAM Deans Leadership Council- Auburn University (10th year- *Deans Leadership Council- 5 years School of Dentistry UAB, *Research Dental Practice Network- 5 years), All American Society- Auburn University, and the 2016 AGD Professional Relations Committee. Dr. Isbell served as the President Elect of the Alabama Dental Association in 2016, and will serve as President of the Alabama Dental Association in 2017.
Locally, Dr. Isbell has been a member of the Gadsden Kiwanis Club, Gadsden Quarterback Club, Riverview Regional Medical Center Staff, Gadsden Beautification Board, Chairman of Etowah Co. Key Clubs, Etowah Kidney Foundation Board, and coaches soccer at Gadsden City High School. He also participates in numerous other community service organizations.
Dr. Gordon Roswell Isbell IV, also know as Dr. Ross, was born and raised in Gadsden, AL and returned home to practice in Northeast Alabama after graduation from the UAB School of Dentistry and the UAB Hospital Dentistry Residency Program in 2015.
Dr. Ross attended Gadsden High School and participated in many organizations such as Key Club, Beta Club, and National Honor Society and was a 4-year letterman on the Soccer team. Following his graduation in 2006, he attended Washington and Lee University, where he majored in Biology and graduated in 2010. He began his career path in dentistry at UAB School of Dentistry in 2010 and graduated in 2014. During his time in dental school, Dr. Ross participated in many aspects of organized dentistry and served not only as his local American Student Dental Association Chapter President, but also served nationally on ADPAC. Following graduation, he completed a General Practice Residency at UAB Hospital and began practicing at Isbell Dental in July 2015. Since graduation, Dr. Ross has attained an MBA degree with a Healthcare concentration from UAB. In our state Dental groups he has served as the Chair of the New Dentist Council for the Alabama Dental Association and as President of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Ross is a big believer in life-long education and is currently pursuing his Fellowship degree in the Academy of General Dentistry.
In his personal life, Dr. Ross Isbell married Stephanie Williams Isbell from Homewood, AL on June 2, 2018. They have two dogs: Teddy, a mini Aussie-doodle, and Tucker, a black lab. On June 25, 2021, Dr. Ross and Stephanie welcomed their first son Gordon Roswell Isbell V Wells and are enjoying watching him grow!
Dr. Austin Mitchell, also known as Dr. Austin, was born and raised in Glencoe, Alabama. He graduated from the UAB School of Dentistry in 2021 and returned to Etowah County to practice at Isbell Dental.
Dr. Austin was born and raised in Glencoe, Alabama. He is a third-generation graduate of Glencoe High School, finishing with honors in 2013. While attending high school he was a member of the football and basketball teams. Upon graduation he attended The University of Alabama on a Presidential Academic Scholarship with and invitation to become part of the Honors College. Austin graduated magna cum laude with a bachelors in Biology in 2017. He began his dental journey at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017. During his four years at UAB he was a member of the American Student Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Austin graduated from UAB School of Dentistry and joined Isbell Dental in June 2021.

Isbell dental is the greatest! From the start Dr Ross squeezed me into his already busy schedule for an emergency root canal as a new patient. All 6 members of our family, including our autistic son, have now visited Isbell dental and have felt nothing but compassion and the best of care from the entire staff! Isbell dental truly has an angel that is employed there, her name is Donna. I have had syndrome and she was outstanding with me, showing me tricks to keep me gagging. Last visit I had a wisdom tooth filled. I was so afraid but she let me hold her hand the whole time.

Dr.Ross was absolutely amazing. I went in and let him and his staff know how petrified I was (I needed a extraction) his staff was so sweet and understanding that they talked to me the whole time and was SO compassionate they gave me a blanket because I was so scared that I felt cold and was shaking ! Even with a arm full of tattoos they never once made me feel childish for being so scared ! Dr.Ross did such an amazing job at keeping me calm, he numbed me so well before the shots that I didn't even feel the shots and my mouth is a sensitive area. I really want the staff to know how much I appreciate them for their kindness, compassion, understanding & outstanding work.

Let me start by saying big Thank you to Stefani Harrell for a outstanding referral to Isbell Dental! She is so passionate and positive about the group she works for and to me that says alot! So if not for our conversation I would have never even considered calling for an appointment! And when I did call after seeing a local dentist in town and not being so happy about my first visit! The young lady that answered the phone LAUREN was outstanding and patient and knowledgeable! She took the time to look up a few codes for me without Hesitation aswell as my bcbs benefits she answered all my questions with spot on answers and kindness and understanding attitude. LAUREN definitely knows her job and very good at it. That's a rare quality to find these days. If not for her I would have never scheduled an appointment! Last but not least Dr Austin Mitchell was absolutely fantastic he understood my concerns my needs and I've never left a dental office feeling so positive and good about a visit He has my 100% trust. He is definitely my life long dentist his assistant also was great. I will brag about this group and Dr Austin Mitchell to everyone. I could go on and on about my visit with him!! Dr. Ross and his staff are amaizing! I tend to have anxiety episodes when getting dental work done. He and his staff are more than patient and take their time to make sure I'm calm and comfortable with the work being done. Dr. Ross has the most amazing team of super kind and friendly workers I've ever experienced! Each and every member of the team goes out of their way to make sure you know what's going on, and that you're ok with their plan for you. I will never use another dental professional for myself or my family unless he refers me elsewhere for speciality work. Enough fantastic things cannot be said about Dr. Ross and his team! They even stayed one night until almost 8:00 pm because my husband had a difficult wisdom tooth removal. Instead of sending my husband home to linger with the half-completed job, Dr. Ross and his team assured us they would stay as long as it took too get the job done. And they did! Again, I cannot say enough kind words... This is the absolute BEST dental office! I love all of them and can't thank them enough for all they have done for myself and my family!!!! On a scale of one to ten... An easy 20!

Because of my color & race I feel I am not welcome to his office . Past 6 months twice for emergency cases I called them but .... first time they didn't return my calls - emails and second time they said they can see me next year ( !!!! ) . I remember when he was fresh out of collage and new in business many times he sent letter to my house asked for help and people like me we helped him very much ( with our business ) but now he got established he don't care for old customers anymore . Very very disappointed with him , I lost my respect for him .

My father had a cleaning appointment today, which is covered fully by his insurance. When he got to the window to schedule his next app., he was told he had a $20 fee. When he asked what it was for, he was told it was for a sanitization fee due to COVID-19. He was caught off guard and paid the fee, but I assure you he will not be back. I am appalled that there are businesses taking advantage of the current situation. It also brings to question what their cleaning methods were prior to the virus outbreak. Working as a nurse in a hospital, our methods have not changed; so I know this is just a ploy to get as much money from their patients as possible.
