Dr. Gordon Isbell was born and raised in Gadsden. He attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga. He was an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Award. He received his BS degree in Chemistry from Auburn University. He received his DMD degree from the University of Alabama Dental School in 1981. Dr. Isbell is an avid proponent of Continuing Education in dentistry, he received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1989 and went on to receive his Masters in the Academy in July, 1996. Dr. Isbell served as President of the Alabama Chapter of the AGD in 1990 and the AGDs Board of Directors for the state. He is a member of the Alabama Dental Association. He has served as the chairman of the national Group Benefits Council for the AGD. Dr. Isbell is past Regional Director and National Trustee for the AGD for the Alabama, Georgia, and North and South Carolina. Dr. Isbell served as Chairman of the American Dental Association Council on the Dental Practice Nationally. He has served on the National Health Information Infrastructure Task Force for the ADA and on numerous committees and task forces for the profession of dentistry nationally. In June of 2015 he was named distinguished service award winner for Academy of General Dentistry in San Francisco. In July he was voted to the Board of Trustees Alabama Dental Association. Dr. Isbell had a number of speaking engagements in 2016: in January he spoke to the ADPAC Board on Alumni Affairs and in June he spoke to Junior and Senior dental students at the Howard Gamble Memorial Lecture for AGD at the UAB Alumni Association. In March of 2016 he was awarded the Jack Wilson Award from the American Dental Political Action Committee for his years of dedicated service to Political and Legislative Action. He has served on multiple committees, councils and boards in 2016: The Alumni Awards Committee- UAB School of Dentistry, The George Petrie Society- Auburn University, College of Math and Science COSAM Deans Leadership Council- Auburn University (10th year- *Deans Leadership Council- 5 years School of Dentistry UAB, *Research Dental Practice Network- 5 years), All American Society- Auburn University, and the 2016 AGD Professional Relations Committee. Dr. Isbell served as the President Elect of the Alabama Dental Association in 2016, and will serve as President of the Alabama Dental Association in 2017.
Locally, Dr. Isbell has been a member of the Gadsden Kiwanis Club, Gadsden Quarterback Club, Riverview Regional Medical Center Staff, Gadsden Beautification Board, Chairman of Etowah Co. Key Clubs, Etowah Kidney Foundation Board, and coaches soccer at Gadsden City High School. He also participates in numerous other community service organizations.
Dr. Gordon Roswell Isbell IV, also know as Dr. Ross, was born and raised in Gadsden, AL and returned home to practice in Northeast Alabama after graduation from the UAB School of Dentistry and the UAB Hospital Dentistry Residency Program in 2015.
Dr. Ross attended Gadsden High School and participated in many organizations such as Key Club, Beta Club, and National Honor Society and was a 4-year letterman on the Soccer team. Following his graduation in 2006, he attended Washington and Lee University, where he majored in Biology and graduated in 2010. He began his career path in dentistry at UAB School of Dentistry in 2010 and graduated in 2014. During his time in dental school, Dr. Ross participated in many aspects of organized dentistry and served not only as his local American Student Dental Association Chapter President, but also served nationally on ADPAC. Following graduation, he completed a General Practice Residency at UAB Hospital and began practicing at Isbell Dental in July 2015. Since graduation, Dr. Ross has attained an MBA degree with a Healthcare concentration from UAB. In our state Dental groups he has served as the Chair of the New Dentist Council for the Alabama Dental Association and as President of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Ross is a big believer in life-long education and is currently pursuing his Fellowship degree in the Academy of General Dentistry.
In his personal life, Dr. Ross Isbell married Stephanie Williams Isbell from Homewood, AL on June 2, 2018. They have two dogs: Teddy, a mini Aussie-doodle, and Tucker, a black lab. On June 25, 2021, Dr. Ross and Stephanie welcomed their first son Gordon Roswell Isbell V Wells and are enjoying watching him grow!
Dr. Austin Mitchell, also known as Dr. Austin, was born and raised in Glencoe, Alabama. He graduated from the UAB School of Dentistry in 2021 and returned to Etowah County to practice at Isbell Dental.
Dr. Austin was born and raised in Glencoe, Alabama. He is a third-generation graduate of Glencoe High School, finishing with honors in 2013. While attending high school he was a member of the football and basketball teams. Upon graduation he attended The University of Alabama on a Presidential Academic Scholarship with and invitation to become part of the Honors College. Austin graduated magna cum laude with a bachelors in Biology in 2017. He began his dental journey at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017. During his four years at UAB he was a member of the American Student Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Austin graduated from UAB School of Dentistry and joined Isbell Dental in June 2021.

My husband and I recently moved to the area and began looking for a dentist. Having anxiety about dental work, I searched for reviews about a gentle, sweet office. After reading tons of positive reviews, we scheduled. What a wonderful experience! We highly recommend and are so thankful to have found this practice.

I have had bad experiences with dentists in the past and I put off having dental work that I really needed. Everyone at Isbell went out of their way to help me, calm me and take care of me. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Isbell Dental. Awesome Folks.

I have horrible dental anxiety. I called in to book an appointment and they explained everything thoroughly and added up all costs while being very nice. From the minute I walked in the receptionists made me feel welcome and comfortable. I'm horrible with names but I think Stephanie did my cleaning and consistently made sure I was comfortable while sydney assisted her and did the same. Ive never felt so taken care of and informed during a visit to any dentist so I am beyond grateful and so happy I chose Isbell dental. They really care about their patients here and it shows.

Just went to Dr Isabel's south Location earlier this week and they were amazing ! Donna made me feel so welcomed. She was patient , understanding, and very informative as well. And then once the doctor got to me , I could've sworn he had all the time in the world as far as listening to any and all of my concerns and I'm actually looking forward to my future appointments . This is the first time I've felt completely comfortable and 100% satisfied .

Amazing place. Wonderful people. They make tou feel so comfortable. So i went here in 2016 for a broken tooth. I was in and out. Now 2020 im back ro get it redone. The same way i felt 4 years ago, i felt the same way today. Same atmosphere same dr ( who remembered me btw) very good at telling me whats good for me. 10/10 make this you go to

Dr. Gordon is phenomenal. I just had a cracked filling repaired today and he did such a good job. It was the last back molar, so a difficult spot to reach, but he was gentle and talked me through the entire process. I didn't feel a single numbing shot he gave me and was even surprised afterwards. He's very thorough in his explanations for the work you need done. I would highly recommend him.

Had my first visit and everything about it was great! Staff was very friendly and the office very clean. I had two hygienist, Stephanie and Morgan and they were amazing! Very patient and informative. I learned so much! They really take their time and make you feel comfortable. The Dr. was also very professional. Took his time to answer all my questions and seems genuinely concerned for his patients. Great visit!

Stephanie is my hygienist. She did a great job. Having had mouth trauma as a teen, I'm terrified of dental visits but, she calmed and reassured me the entire time. The entire staff is very nice!

I have to say that dr.ross is the most kindness,professional,caring,knowledgeable doctor I have ever known.He made me feel safe when i had to have emergency surgery to remove an implant that had me in server pain but he talk to me explain everything to calm me down.Thanks Doc your the best!His staff is also Awesome!!!
