Dr. Daniel Hsu is both a licensed dentist and a licensed physician. He earned his dental degree from Columbia Universitys College of Dental Medicine (graduating in the top 10% of his class), and received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. Dr. Hsu then completed his 6 year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. New York Presbyterian Hospital ranks #1 in New York and among the top six in the US out of nearly 5,000 hospitals evaluated by US News and World Report.
Dr. Hsu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was selected as an Orange Coast Magazine 'Top Dentist' as chosen by his peers. He has won other awards including the 'Patients Choice Award' from Vitals, 'Top Doctor' from the Consumers Research Council of America, and 'Patients Choice Award' from Opencare.com.
Dr. Hsu received extensive training in dental implant surgery, bone grafting procedures, dentoalveolar surgery, orthognatic/corrective jaw surgery, oral pathology, trauma, and cosmetic facial injectables (Botox/Juvederm). Dr. Hsu is a Nobel Biocare Diamond partner, the highest achievement awarded to only a select few dentists who place among the largest volume of dental implants.
After completion of his residency program, Dr. Hsu served as Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia University, where he oversaw the instruction of students and supervised residents during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. Dr. Hsu worked in an oral surgery practice in New York City before relocating to Orange County. Afterwards, he worked in a busy group oral surgery practice in Los Angeles prior to opening up his own practice in Irvine, California.
Dr. Hsu has lectured both locally and nationally on various topics such as: advanced bone grafting, esthetic dental implant placement, CAD/CAM Custom Abutments, the All on 4 procedure, and minimally invasive wisdom teeth extractions. He has also actively participated in local and international outreach programs in Los Angeles, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Jeffrey Nguyen is a native of California. He was born and raised in San Jose and attended UC Davis where he earned a bachelor degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the College of Biological Sciences. He then matriculated and earned his dental surgery degree from the prestigious UCLA School of Dentistry. He was distinguished from his peers by his work in outreach within the underserved communities in Orange County and traveled abroad providing dental services in Vietnam. He is fluent in Vietnamese.
After completion of dental school, Dr. Nguyen continued his education at the University of Connecticut oral and maxillofacial surgery 6-year residency training program. In this time, he completed the requisite years in oral surgery, earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and received a certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In his final year of training, he served as the chief resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Hartford Hospital, Connecticut Children's Health Center, St. Francis Hospital, and John Dempsey Hospital. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is licensed to practice both dentistry and medicine in California.
His training in residency was extensive and covered a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery which included dentoalveolar surgery, implant and bone grafting surgery, facial trauma/reconstructive surgery, craniofacial/cleft surgery, diagnosis and treatment of pathology, and cosmetic surgery. His general surgery years gave him exposure and experience in managing the intensive care patient, managing complex wounds and infections, plastic surgical procedures and techniques, and trauma surgical care. He received a two year certificate from the University of Connecticut general surgery department.
Dr. Nguyen lectures regionally educating dentists about advances in oral surgical care. Most recently, he's given lectures about Botox and the management of medical emergencies in the dental office. He partnered with Straumann and hosts a study club in Costa Mesa dedicated to the advancement of implant and bone grafting surgery.
Dr. Nguyen's wife is a full time clinician at the University of California Irvine Gavin Herbert Eye Institute. They met while he was a student at UCLA and she was studying at UC Irvine. Together, they live and practice here in Irvine.

My tooth broke while I was on vacation. They got me an appointment for about 2 hours later. Pricing was very reasonable. Communication was great. I was all done by noon the same morning we initially called. Painless. I will always be grateful.

I experienced very little pain during the procedure. Everything was explained clearly before and during the process which proceeded smoothly and quickly. The office staff was very friendly and professional. I'm very satisfied with my entire experience. I highly recommend Dr. Hsu and his staff.

I already shared with friends how fast and professional Doctor Nyugen and staff were. I had an extraction of an abscessed tooth, bone scraping and graft in 30 minutes from check in and out. My only disappointment was having to wait in pain for two weeks before getting my appointment. One day later I am gratefully free from pain!!!

I was pretty nervous about having the extraction and bone graft done. It has only been one day sense the procedure, and I iced frequently during the first 24 hours, however I am virtually pain free and there is almost no swelling or bleeding. I know that there is a long road ahead, however, wanted to provide the early results for those who are worried about the procedure. Thanks Dr. Nguyen, and staff.

Everyone in that office is very professional and knowledgeable from the front office to the staff assisting the doctor. The doctor himself is pretty great. He took the time to explain the entire procedure so I would know what's going on. He numbed me up very well and pulled a wisdom tooth. No pain during the procedure. And not much pain afterwards. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to him.

Dr. Jeffrey was great and very quick in extracting my wisdom teeth using local anesthesia. I did not feel any uncomfortable pain during the extraction. However, the doctor did not speak to me to explain anything or answer questions, he just came in when he was ready to extract and left quickly afterwards.

After my visit to Ivy Endodontics, it would be hard for anyone in the dental field to earn 5 stars from me. It might be time to get new exam/procedure chairs... the current chairs looked like they bought 2nd hand from the set of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. 24 hours post op and things are going well. I hope I never have to go back, but certainly would if the need arose again.
