Dr. Rob Thompson has lived in Iowa City since 2001. He is married to Angela Thompson and has two girls and one boy. Mia is 14 years old and currently attends West High in Iowa city. She enjoys dance at Nolte Academy in Coralville and competes at dance competitions around the midwest. Evy is 10 years old and currently likes riding horses and playing tennis. Will is Dr. Thompsons youngest child at five years old. He is full of life and enjoys dinosaurs and riding lawn mowers.
Dr. Thompson is from Britt, Iowa in north central Iowa. He attended Central College in Pella, IA where he met Angela. He received his Masters of Science in Genetics/Bioinformatics from Iowa State University. Then, he moved to Iowa City and worked until his wife finished school. At that time he attended dental school at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Dr. Thompson worked at practices in Cedar Rapids and Davenport before purchasing Iowa City Family Dentistry in August 2012. He also volunteers his time at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry teaching third year dental students on Fridays throughout the year. Continuing education is a very important part of his practice. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), American Dental Association Advisory Council, and Iowa Dental Association.
Jessica is hygienist with our team. Dr. Thompson and Jessica previously worked together in Cedar Rapids. Dr. Thompson is excited to have Jessica join the team. She lives in Lisbon with her husband and keeps busy with her three kids.
Gayle is the newest member to our team. Gayle is originally from Hawaii and now lives in Iowa City with her husband and two kids. She has been in the dental industry for 20+ years and enjoys getting to know patients and their families.

This office has such quick, thorough, and overall great customer service. They even made space for a last minute appointment when I had a bad toothache. Grateful for y'all!

I had the best experience from Iowa Family Dentistry. Dr. Thompson and staffs are all kind and amazing. I was able to communicate well (even though I'm an international student) and I feel that they try best to make the patient comfortable. I'm grateful!

Best Dental Office in Iowa City hands down. Dr. Thompson and his staff provide excellent and efficient dental care. They are always friendly and go out of their way to make sure you get the care you need. On one of my first visits, I got very lightheaded (nerves sometimes get me during medical work) and they ran to a store to get me a something to drink mid procedure. You won't find this kind this kind of service anywhere else. They provide you the exact service you need and are always helpful. Cannot recommend enough.

I had my first dental visit here and immediately felt welcomed! In my phone calls and emails with Gale, she was always helpful. The hygienist took excellent care of my teeth. I was also pleased with all of their Covid precautions. I look forward to continuing my dental care here.

Simply the best dental experience I've ever had. Wonderful doctor and staff who made sure I understood the entire process: from billing, to the procedures, and after care. They never tried to overcharge or perform unnecessary procedures. I really respect them for that. I will definitely come back. Thank you, Iowa City Family Dentistry!

Love the office and atmosphere! My whole family enjoys the experience. I have sensitive teeth and they take their time so I am comfortable. My kids look forward to going and having their teeth cleaned and getting their new tooth brushes! Gayle is always helpful at the front desk and so welcoming! Highly recommend!

I was thrilled when Dr Thompson told me I could get bleaching trays to whiten my teeth before getting a new crown....even at 68! After I did the process at home, I went back to get the match for my new tooth. He also replaced some old gray fill material on another tooth in front with white material plus even repaired a chip on one of my front teeth. WOW! A whole new smile! I was thrilled.The staff is so friendly and helpful. They truly care about their patients.
