If you like being late for anything else you have planned for the day this is the place for you. Two times in the past couple of weeks I have had to wait past the appointment time which I understand sometimes that happens but it's not acceptable when you are the first patient of the day. Also my daughter was very upset when we got in the car because they had to do something different because she had braces and it was very painful. Not explanation no apology. Nothing. Not a professional place at all. I shouldn't know all of the receptionists gossip.

Horrible place to get dental work done. My friend has been dealing with them for awhile now and they're not nice or professional at all!! They messed up her root canal and now she's having to pay double to get it fixed. Save your time and sanity and go somewhere else to get dental work done!

I had been going to this dentistry for a year covered by insurance through my job. 9 months after my last procedure I start getting mail about an unpaid bill. I spoke with them over the phone and it turns out that my second procedure was denied by insurance. I had about ten procedures after that one that were all covered. I was never told about the denied insurance til this point. 2 weeks later they sue me for it.

Zero empathy whatsoever. Do not bring your child to this office. My son has ADHD and anxiety (this was his regular dentist so they were aware). He was doing great before we arrived at the office at 12:20 for a 12:30 apt. The assistant took him right back (early). I asked if I was needed to come back at which she replied "no". My son was doing great so I didn't press the issue. 12:23 she came back and ushered me toward the back to a conference office stating that my son was "uncooperative, and the doctor would be with me". My son was already setting there, moderately disgruntled, (no more than any other kid with hesitation towards the dentist). I spoke with him, explained what was going on, offered a minimal reward for cooperating, and explained that if he didn't get his cavity fixed then the next procedure would be worse. He quickly, yet reluctantly, agreed to move forward. I notified the assistant just outside the door (12:26) who stated that "she would check but wasn't sure that there was time due to the delay in the numbing process". I sat back down and the doctor finally came in after talking with the assistant. He immediately stated that he would have to refer my son to a pediatric dentist. I stated that my son has anxiety in which he replied that they were aware. I listened to the doctor shortly before I stood up and told my son we were leaving and told the doctor that we were done with his office. I was out the door by 12:33. Absolutely absurd! We will be scrapping the "referal" and taking him to a dentist who has some empathy and communication skills to deal with a normal, scared, child. I've never seen anything like this before as a parent. Even the emergency rooms have better communication skills! After the matter, I discovered that his mother (we are separated) spoke with them about how she thought it was important to use the gas instead of the numbing gel due to his fear of the dentist (before the appointment). They agreed, yet did not... The "numbing juice" as they call it, left a nasty taste in his mouth that spurred the "refusal to cooperate" and he wasn't even supposed to have it. Tell me how a child can "refuse" in 3 minutes? I'm appalled at the complete laziness, and lack of empathy towards a hesitant child. That's not even my first concern with this office but it will be the last.

My husband has been a patient here on and off for years since he was a teenager. He was there on 1-12-21 for a toothache. He recieved a 10 day prescription for antibiotics and a referral to an oral surgeon for extractions. We called the oral surgeon, their soonest appointment he could get was 1-28-21. My husband completed his antibiotics on 1-21-21. I'm am RN so I made sure he took his full course of antibiotics twice a day as ordered for 10 days. His tooth still hurts and he has been in severe pain all weekend. He has been unable to eat or sleep at night. Today is Monday 1-25-21 and I called Ionia Family Dentistry to see if they could do anything about his toothache he still has. Their receptionist was rude and said I should be calling the oral surgeon's office, which my husband is not an established patient at yet. She said I should be asking them for more antibiotics. She than said that Dr. Wong is not in today so they cannot do anything for him. She said he'd have to try calling back tomorrow when Dr. Wong is in to see what she can do. So he has to wait to see what Dr. Wong says tomorrow or just wait for his appt at the oral surgeon's on 1-28-21 as he sits here in extreme pain and can't eat. She also said they don't give pain meds. I was not asking for pain medications, just more antibiotics. My husband has a very high pain tolerance and does not usually even take pain medications. Motrin and Tylenol are not working for this toothache. Thank god my own dentist I go to in Greenville is much kinder and has an emergency phone number and does give Norco for terrible toothaches. Dr. Wong is very kind but this is not the dentist office you want to go to if you're in extreme tooth pain and hoping to get some relief. As a previous dental assistant, I would not recommend going to this office. I hope to get my husband switched to the Dentist office I go to, Greenville Family Dental, it's a farther drive but worth it.

Nothing but good things to say about the staff! Hygienists always make you feel comfortable and the dentists are very thorough! Office staff works hard to accommodate your schedule too!

My family loves going to Ionia Family Dentistry. The ladies at the front desk are always very welcoming and strike up conversation! The hygentist and both Dr.Wong and Dr. Swartz are very good at what they do. They are good with children also, both my boys have gone since they were little.

I've been a patient here for many years, and they take good care of my teeth. It's nice to know that I have a dentist and hygienist I can trust. The front office staff has always been very nice too. I see the other reviews where they say that the staff isn't nice. This is puzzling. They are very nice, just not terribly bubbly people. They're very professional and caring, and that is good enough for me.
