Interfaith Dental - General dentist in Nashville, TN

After doing volunteer dentistry in third-world countries, our founder Dr. Tom Underwood realized that there were hardworking people right here in Middle Tennessee that were in just as desperate need of dental care but could not afford it. With the help of the Nashville Dental Society and the Outreach Commission of West End United Methodist Church, Dr. Underwood initiated Interfaith Dental Clinic in November 1994 to provide affordable dental care for working poor families and the elderly who fall between the cracks of private practice and public healthcare.

The clinic started with a two-chair operation and one employee in the basement of West End United Methodist Church. In 1998, Interfaith Dental Clinic moved to 1721 Patterson Street and in 2012 opened a satellite clinic in Murfreesboro to serve the Rutherford County community. In 2019, the clinic expanded and moved into its current location at 600 Hill Avenue. The clinics have 26 operatories and state-of-the-art equipment.

Oral health is vital to a persons overall well-being. There is a well-established relationship between gum disease, heart disease and stroke. A dental exam can save someones life, as it can detect the first signs of oral cancer, AIDS, diabetes, drug use and domestic violence. However, oral healthcare is often overlooked.

  • More than 1 in 4 Americans (27%) say they have oral health issues that theyd like to address, but often are prohibited by their inability to pay for the work (cited by 62% of those with unresolved issues).
  • Poor oral health affects every area of a persons life. Tooth loss and noticeable decay can severely limit job opportunities. Severe pain causes absenteeism and decreases job performance. Children with untreated decay experience persistent pain, poor nutrition, and poor concentration. Senior citizens often suffer from poor nutrition, limited social interactions, and problems speaking.

If you are experiencing major work done on your teeth don't waist your money at the interfaith dental because of their unexpected dentists. My wife and I spend close to $20k for bridge and other services we end up loosing all bridges in less then 3cyears period due to poor service and dentists job

I have been with interfaith dental clinic for more than 10+ years. It used to be amazing and I can still remember Matthew working in the front desk in the old building. Now it's a joke! I have called multiple times to make an appointment they won't answer. The staff is rude, and don't care about the patients. I won't go here if I were you!

I went in as nervous as ever due to anxiety and yet im really happy with the way the visit went. The front desk was very nice and helpful. I believe the person who took me back and made me feel the most comfortable was nick! Im sorry if the name is wrong but he was amazing he answered all my questions and talked to me making me comfortable. The oral surgeon who pull 3 of my teeth was also very nice friendly and acknowledgeable. He was very fast but effective. He made sure I was comfortable and out of pain as much as possible. My mouth feels so much better! I just want to thank them for the outstanding job they did with my teeth and helping me stay calm! Thank y'all so much

I called after being referred by a friend. My fiances veneers came off his front teeth. He lost his teeth due to cancer treatments and has no dental insurance. These people are not willing to help him for several months. His teeth under his veneers are severely decayed and he is having trouble drinking anything hot or cold. I would suggest you don't waste your time unless you have several months to wait.

My son had a abscessed tooth. We ended up being referred to interfaith in Nashville. They treat him so well and this last visit, At JJs dental appointment Thursday , the dentist surprised him with a new tooth pillow for when he loses his teeth. She the Dr. felt so bad that Maggie chewed up his last one that they gave him. Of course they were hand made. But they replaced it with a special one. Since he's been so brave each visit. Getting numbed and the drilling. They are amazing at interfaith dental in Nashville.

Susan was the nicest, caring nurse and was very helpful in explaining everything and encouraging. Dr Aiken was also very, very helpful and caring too. I was lucky enough to get in. I know other people have to wait for the list to open up. I just hope you're able to get in. This place is a real blessing, imo.

I was put on the waiting list over a year. They had told me to call once a month for updates but this last time they said they had nobody by name on a waiting list I was so upset and disappointed so now I am starting all over again somewhere else.
