Dr. Nokkeo has been in practice as a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon since 2003. He started in dentistry as a dental assistant during his undergraduate years at Rutgers University in New Jersey. From there he went on to complete dental school at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He did his residency for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Washington Hospital Center, where he is now on the attending staff.
Dr. Nokkeo serves as an Officer of several Dental Societies within the Maryland State Dental Association, Southern Maryland Dental Society, and Maryland Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He has served as Treasurer for the Maryland State Dental Association, President of the Southern Maryland Dental Society, and Past President of the Maryland ADSA. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists.

I came here for an emergency extraction. I had a horrible toothache and they fit me in right before they were closed for the day. Everyone from receptionist, nurse, accountant, and Dr. Chu were very nice and caring. I have a severe dental phobia. He said we'll give you gas, and said we'd start with the painful shot first... well it wasn't even painful! Dr. Chu was absolutely great. He didn't hurt me, he was super understanding and he even texted later to check on me. I would return here again.

My husband was referred to this place for his wisdom tooth extraction from his dentist and we were quoted for the total cost at the day of the appointment and completed the procedure that same day. My husband said the procedure was quick and easy and We paid the quoted price out of pocket because we did not have dental insurance. They said a follow up appointment is needed and it is at no charge. Thus we made an appointment two weeks later to make sure everything is okay. What really upset us was when my husband went for the follow up and was told that they made a mistake on the treatment code and need to charge us an additional $50?? My husband asked why and what "treatment code" and the front desk people doesn't even know herself and insist that they made a mistake and needed to charge us another $50. I feel like they purposely gave a random excuse just so they can charge you extra for the follow up.... If you made a mistake on the "treatment code", why didn't you call me the day of the procedure or within those two weeks to let us know? Also, the front desk staff could not even explain what are the treatment codes and why its 50$ more?!

When scheduling my appointment I was asked if I wanted to do just a consultation or do the consultation and procedure. I said it depended on cost and recovery time which they said would all be explained during the appointment. No mention of any consultation fee. In the appointment I was told the consultation was covered and I only needed to pay for the procedure. I let them know due to risks and recovery I wanted to schedule for 2-3 weeks later so I could be better prepared. When scheduling my appointment I was told I needed to pay a $130 consultation fee even though 5 minutes earlier I was told I wouldn't need to. They said it's because I didn't do it on the same day. The billing woman was very rude and combative. No apology or attempt to work it out at the next procedure. She then threated to send to collections in 30 days when I said I didn't feel comfortable paying and wanted to talk to the owner. Poor service from the billing woman. I agree with another reviewer that they seem driven by money. They lost a patient over that $130.

Do not get your wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Nokkeo without doing your due diligence. I was happy with the over office by felt rushed on the day of and ultimately am living with persistent and ongoing nerve damage in my lower mouth with no signs of when I will have relief. I know doctors make mistakes, but the reason I am writing a review is because the next day when I called with my concerns because I was still numb, Dr. Nokkeo had little to no urgency. A month later I was calling and had to track him down to get assistance on next steps and info for a nerve specialist. He didn't even have the decency to apologize. To make matters worse, the nerve specialist that he sent me to hasn't seen patients for this injury in over a year! It has been almost 9 months and I am still in pain. Please make sure you get a 3 D x-ray and ask a ton o questions. the damage is serious and he is not interested in helping after the fact!

I made an appointment for my wife for Nov 25th, 2020 @ 12:45 pm for wisdom teeth removal weeks in advance, got permission from work to not work the afternoon of that day. A few days later they called us back and offer me an earlier appointment @ 12:15 pm because they want to close early the day before Thanksgiving, We declined since my wife couldn't take more time off from work. What a surprise until TODAY the day of the removal when they call us at 12:28 pm to tell us that we missed our "12:15" appointment!!! WHAT? We never accepted the change! Turns out they went ahead made the change so they could leave home earlier and waited until the day of the appointment to tell me about it. No matter the pain my wife is for weeks, no matter the time we took of work.... oh but they offered us an appointment for Monday.. right because my wife is going to be able to ask off from work the Monday after Thanksgiving... how convenient when we called earlier the wait was weeks in advance but now you have an appointment for Monday? The whole idea was to have a few days to rest after the surgery. This is unacceptable, stay away they obviously don't care much about their patients.

I would like to start off by thanking the staff for being so nice and welcoming. I got all four wisdom teeth removed and it was nice and fast. I was maybe there for a hour or less. The front desk was very nice and friendly. I called back to make a follow up appointment to make sure my pain wasnt anything to be concerned about they made no hesitation to make a appointment for me and when i cancelled my appointment they had no problem at all and assured me if i felt any pain in the future that i could make a appointment. They also were able e mail me some dentists information around the area because i was so satisfied with them. I wish they did all oral & dental work. I am very pleased with my experience here!

Dr. Nokkeo is an amazing Doctor!! I would highly recommend him if you are looking for an Oral Surgeon! He has a fantastic bedside manor and did an amazing job on my daughter's treatment! Really can't thank him and his kind staff enough!!!

Do not get your wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Nokkeo without doing your due diligence. If you need your wisdom teeth out-go here!!!!! Went in for a consultation and wanted to get my 3 wisdom teeth out ASAP. Dr. Nokkeo said he'd be able to fit me in. Within 10 minutes all 3 teeth were out with zero pain. I had a local anesthetic to numb the pain but I felt nothing. The team is incredible!!!!

Addendum... I texted my dentist on his emergency line and he called me right back (Dr. Chu). I told him that I was still bleeding profusely and he gave me advice to clot faster, I followed it and it's working... the bleeding has slowed down considerably. So I'm changing my original 4 stars to 5. I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed today and it went as smooth as it could've been. Minor pain and discomfort during the process and it was quick. However, when I tried to call back after I arrived home to ask a question about the pain and bleeding, their phones were having technical difficulties. ???? So here I sit, bleeding, with pain coming back, with a question, and their phone is out of order during their normal business hours?! Not something that gives you faith in the system, so to speak. Hope there's not a Mayflower truck there packing up as I type... LOL!

I just had two of my bottom wisdom teeth removed with local anesthesia and Dr.Nokkeo did an excellent job! I did not feel any pain at all during the procedure and he was so nice. Definitely recommend!

I was referred to Dr. Chu for my wisdom teeth removal from my dentist. I was in and out in about 40 minutes. Fast and smooth operation. It went exactly as planned. I trust this office to do my oral work if needed in the future. If your nervous or not sure which office you should trust, consider visiting this office. Truly wonderful experience!!

2.5 stars. Oral surgery (Wisdom tooth extraction) went fantastically, very good work from what I am experiencing. Everything was done without a hitch, and I am very very pleased. however the surgeon (and nurse at times) seemed to have 0 bedside manner, they explained very little in terms of what was happening, did little to assuage my nervousness, the aftercare directions were a bit fuzzy (even after my boyfriend explained them to me), I was left unattended in the room multiple times (including when I was on gas), they did nothing to help my nerves before or afterwards, and the surgeon disappeared near milliseconds after I awoke from my surgery. The nurse went over everything with my boyfriend afterwords but I wasn't allowed to keep or even see my OWN teeth after extraction. They didn't explain how the surgery went and seemed to rush me and my boyfriend out after we'd paid. Pleased with the ease of surgery, very displeased with their care of patients. If I wasn't asking questions I'm POSITIVE they would not have explained anything to me. After the surgery I was very loopy, so I understand why they did not go into great detail with me, but my boyfriend was there, they also didn't check on me whatsoever after i awoke from the surgery to see how I was feeling/doing and it felt very impersonal and like I was just another number (which yeah) but that's still not how you treat people. Probably would not go back except for a follow up. Shout out to the amazing, wonderful lady at the front desk who got me is ASAP and helped me work out everything over the phone. Really appreciate you.
