Dr. Nakamura is a third generation dentist who was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Iolani High School, and after graduating, he attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon where he completed his dental school requirements in 3 years.
Dr. Nakamura continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and received his dental degree in 1994. He pursued postgraduate training in periodontics and periodontal-prosthesis at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1997, Dr. Nakamura worked in the University of Pennsylvania Faculty Network Practice, where he placed and restored dental implants, performed various periodontal procedures, provided fixed and removable prosthetics, and practiced general dentistry.
Dr. Nakamura is dedicated to imparting and applying the knowledge he's accumulated over the years from his postgraduate training and practicing to his patients, contemporary colleagues, as well as potential colleagues of tomorrow. He lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on various topics such as Dental Implants, Periodontics, and Occlusion. Additionally, Dr. Nakamura had articles published in the Hawaii Medical Journal, the Western Journal of Medicine, Penn Dental Journal, Journal of Prosthodontics, and the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry.
His academic responsibilities have included Clinical Assistant Professor and Primary Care Unit Group Leader in the Department of Preventative and Restorative Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine from 2006 to 2011. Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Maurice Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University from 2011 to 2021 and currently, he is back teaching in the Department ofPreventativeand Restorative Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Nakamura was named Best Dentist in Main Line Today, Philadelphia Magazine, and Be Well Philly by his peers. He has the unique distinction of being recognized as a Top Dentist in the categories of Periodontics, Prosthodontics, and General Dentistry.
Dorsey joined Dr. Nakamuras office last year. She started out as a dental assistant for 7 years, then transitioned to the front desk for another 10 years. She brings her many years of expertise to our office. Dorsey loves our attention to quality care we give our patients and enjoys working beside a great staff! She has 2 children and 1 grandchild. She loves to decorate, cook and swim.
Kirsten, a native from Edgewater, MD, got her Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Harcum College. She comes to Integrated Dental Care with over 20 years of experience as a hygienist. She had worked with Dr. Nakamura previously for four years in the University of Pennsylvania Faculty Practice Network. She is also certified in adult, child and infant CPR and Concussion Prevention. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 3 children and watching them compete in various sport activities as well spending time with her goldendoodle pup, Paddy. Having grown up around the water, she enjoys relaxing at the beach with a good book, as well as traveling. She especially can't wait for the MLB and NFL to resume.
Lauren joined our team in March 2017. She has 10 years of experience as a dental assistant, and her knowledge of periodontics and strong communication skills allow her to better serve our patients and assist them in seeking and receiving treatment. Lauren enjoys working with Dr. Nakamura, our great team, and our wonderful patients. Lauren resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with her husband, two children, and two golden retrievers. Outside of the office, her hobbies include cooking, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors.
