I currently serve on a national committee that prepares, reviews, and helps in writing this exam.

Although none of my family members are involved in dentistry, I became interested in the profession at the early age of 13. My own family dentist gave me a good impression of the career as he was always pleasant, happy, and seemed to enjoy his work. Being interested in the life sciences and biology as a child, and one who liked to build things and was always using my fathers tools, dentistry became very appealing. I entered college with the agenda of continuing onto dental school. In 1980, after 3 yrs. of undergraduate studies in a pre-dental curriculum at Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana, I was accepted at Indiana University School of Dentistry as an out-of-state student.

During four years of dental school, consideration was given to specializing in different aspects of dentistry, oral surgery or orthodontics being the most frequently contemplated. By the end of dental school, I realized there were too many facets of dentistry I found enjoyable and rewarding to eliminate by focusing in just one field of dentistry. Considerable time, effort, and expense has been invested into continuing education efforts since graduating with honors that has provided a fulfilling and multidimensional career for myself and a convenient one stop shopping for my patients. Being limited to just straightening teeth, just restoring teeth with crowns and bridges, or just doing implants (although rewarding and enjoyable in itself) would be frustrating as a clinician and practitioner when dentistry has so many aspects to offer those wanting to restore and/or beautify their smile.

My first experience in private practice took place at a small school/orphanage in an impoverished village on the island of Haiti. While waiting for the required state board exam results I accompanied a church group to Haiti and provided much needed dental care to an otherwise neglected community. I was able to return to the village the following year with three additional dental school classmates and provided more care for these people. Ive since been a part of several similar medical-dental outreaches to El Salvador, Central America, Haiti, and Africa. This has always been a rewarding and eye opening experience. Their intent is to help improve the quality of life for the poor and suffering there, but more importantly they are a witness to the love of Christ and to assist in evangelical outreaches of the established churches and missionaries. My most recent trip to El Salvador in Jan. 2015 provided the opportunity for 5 of our staff to go along and assist in providing dental care for these gracious people. I was also invited to spend a day at the dental School in San Salvador to teach the students and alumni techniques in minimally invasive implant procedures and look forward to returning in the coming year as they have requested.

Continuing to serve as director for the state wide continuing education program of the Indiana Academy of General Dentistry in helping other doctors to stay current on cutting edge dentistry and obtaining their Fellowship and Mastership credentials.

Dr. Jordanne Gambill, a recent graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, is looking forward to joining the Indianapolis Dentistry team where she will continue to pursue her passion for learning and helping others. While attending OSU, Jordanne was involved in multiple groups- American Student Dental Association, Association of Women Dentists, and was co-chair of the Anatomy Memorial Service, where she helped plan a service for the families of over 200 body donors at Ohio State. Being a leader and serving the community has been a quality of Dr. Gambills throughout her life. She was a four year womens basketball player & three year team captain at Kentucky Wesleyan College where she majored in Biology and minored in Fine Arts. Jordanne spent numerous Saturdays providing free dental care to underserved children of Columbus through Give Kids a Smile; She also spent her free time working with the youth through private basketball lessons and camps in her hometown of Clarksville, Ohio. Dr. Gambill is excited to start her career and bring her work ethic and artistic qualities to the patients here at Indianapolis Dentistry. For me, dentistry was a perfect blend of art and science, which are two elements Ive been drawn to since I was young. Having the opportunity to combine these two in order to help others is a dream come true. I am passionate about restoring confidence and providing my patients with the best overall dental experience. I love the diversity of general dentistry. It allows me to put a smile on someones face that is not only beautiful, but more importantly healthy.Coming from a close knit community has taught Dr. Gambill about the kind of atmosphere she wants to create for her patients, while treating them like family and making them feel as comfortable as possible. Jordanne considers herself a lifelong learner and will continue to serve her patients with the utmost care. Dr. Gambill is a current member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and is SMART certified in the safe removal of amalgam fillings. Outside of the office Jordanne enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, friends and family, attending hot yoga, painting, trying new restaurants and playing with her dogs Frank (Great Dane) & Meeko (Pomeranian). The best of both worlds!
