Dr. Tom McCawley has practiced in Fort Lauderdale for almost 40 years. A graduate of the University of Illinois College Of Dentistry, Dr. McCawley holds a specialty degree in Periodontics from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. He is co-chairman of clinical Periodontics at the Broward College Dental Research Clinic and a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Dentists.
Dr. McCawley lectures frequently to universities and dental groups throughout the country and internationally on Periodontics for the 21 Century The Latest Advances in Anti Infective Therapy, and on Practice and Life Management.
He has presented new groundbreaking research on laser effects on bacteria to the American Academy of Dental Research, the American Academy of Periodontology and the North American Society of Periodontists. Drs. Tom and Mark McCawley recently co-authored four new studies on Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) including a groundbreaking study proving that the laser killed the disease causing bacteria in infected pockets. These studies make them among the leading researchers in the world on minimally invasive laser periodontal treatment.
Dr. Mark McCawley is a lifelong resident of Fort Lauderdale attending Harbordale Elementary and Pine Crest School where he was Captain of the cross country team. He graduated Cum Laude from Florida State University. He received his D.M.D. degree from Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine and also a Masters of Science, as well as, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study after a three year residency in periodontology and implants from Nova. Dr. Mark McCawley is now a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr McCawley is also Board Certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery.
Dr. Mark McCawley completed three years of graduate training in their placement and is board certified in dental implant surgery. He has successfully placed hundreds of implants. We were one of the first ten offices in the country to use the revolutionary Navident computer-guided implant placement system, the same system used in neurosurgery. We use only the top of the line, most-researched implants, not generic knockoffs.
Dr. Burak Taskonak is an internationally recognized leader in restorative, aesthetic and implant dentistry and one of the few clinicians who places and restores dental implants. Dr. Taskonak is well trained in the most recent advances of reconstructive dentistry, and he enjoys the full scope of this training, from advanced implant to cosmetic dentistry. He has placed and restored over thousand dental implants, including early and immediately loaded full mouth reconstructions.
He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry and he was awarded a fellowship from New York University College of Dentistry for conducting research in Prosthodontics. Dr. Taskonak received his Ph.D. degree from University of Florida specializing in Dental Biomaterials and consequently, he accepted a position as a post doctoral research associate at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas (Texas A&M University). Subsequent to that, he joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Taskonak is well trained in the most recent advances of reconstructive dentistry, and he enjoys the full scope of this training, from advanced implant to cosmetic dentistry.
