Dr. Cullum completed his DDS with distinction at the University of Alberta, Canada and a general practice residency and specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Westchester Medical Center, New York.
He is a diplomatof the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Cullum is on faculty as a Visiting Lecturer at both Loma Linda University and UCLA, Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is Past-Chair, Department of Surgery, at Kootenai Medical Center.
He speaks internationally and has written numerous articles, textbook chapters and a new textbook titled Minimally Invasive Dental Implant Surgery. Dr. Cullum has served in national, state and local leadership roles.
At Implants Northwest, he practices oral and maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on patient-centered care utilizing immediate and minimally invasive techniques in esthetic implant reconstruction. Dr. Cullum has developed a number of innovative techniques and continues to teach and study internationally. Dr. Cullum is also the president of Implants Northwest LIVE Learning Center, a continuing education institute in Coeur dAlene.
In order to provide the best in patient care, we often use a dental anesthesiologist for advanced anesthesia and pain management. Dr. Montandon works with Dr. Cullum to provide patients with a comfortable and safe surgical experience.
Dr. Richard Montandon was accepted into the Idaho Dental Education Program and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) through Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Immediately following dental school, Dr. Montandon was introduced to dental anesthesiology through a one-year general practice residency at Indiana University. He then completed an additional four years of intensive anesthesia residency training, which included anesthesia care for a broad scope of medical and dental procedures.
Upon completion of his anesthesia residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Dr. Montandon became an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh. During this time, he provided anesthesia care and trained dental anesthesia residents, student nurse anesthetists, and dental students. Dr. Montandons professional focus is primarily clinical dental anesthesiology; however, he has also been involved in lecturing, publishing articles, and other scholarly activities. Dr. Montandon is board certified through the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and is a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Montandon is dedicated to increasing the availability of dental and oral and maxillofacial surgery services to patients that are unable to have their treatment completed without the use of sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Montandon is committed to helping meet each patients needs in a safe and comfortable manner.
After being out of the Inland Northwest region of the country for 11 years, Dr. Montandon and his wife are happy to be back home. In his spare time, Dr. Montandon enjoys his family and friends and spending time in the great outdoors.

At 68 yrs. I had to have a wisdom tooth extracted due to further health issues. I was referred to Dr. Cullum. He did a complete examination of the problem tooth. He was patient and detailed in his explanation of the tooth surgical removal. I did local anesthetic and the procedure went well. My post op. Recovery only took a few days. Dr. Cullum and his staff team were friendly, patient, professional and caring. Dr. Cullum even called me at home later in the day of the surgery to check on me. Dr. Cullum's skill and experience are top notch. He and his support team did an outstanding job.

I had ground my teeth to little nubs. Dr. Cullum removed all my upper teeth. Apparently, the teeth were like glass and the roots were concreted in. Everything went incredibly smooth. At least for me, it did. Dr. Cullum called me several hours after surgery to make sure all was well. My gums healed incredibly well. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr Cullum and his staff.

This place is a joke after my daughters oral surgery she needed a simply Doctors note to return to work through Amazons automated line. It was a battle for my 20 year old to obtain this. all we were asking was simply stating with her current healing situation with dry sockets and the need of pain management medicine and ability to lift heavy objects she was able to be present for work. Not to mention is first post op visit he stated no lifting of heavy objects for 2 weeks, it was denied not once but 3x by Dr. And rude front desk staff member Marcy. She was not cleared to go back to work in time the following Sunday because of this because takes 5/6 days for it to be cleared through Amazon. So she missed a total of 2 weeks because of the lackadaisical way this was handled. But I guess everyone doesn't have to worry as much if their bills are paid when your a surgeon. I finally had to call and have my husband call to request this. To Finally receive it. During our first post op visit I witnessed the Dr. Rudely demanding the assistant with a hand gesture to grab the light as if she wasn't moving fast enough for his liking as if she were a dog. With that being said this is officially my 2 google review ever written. I do not recommend this place to anyone who respects Good Customer Service.

I had an impacted wisdom tooth, #15 next to it and the day before I went for surgery #14 fractured as well. High anxiety when I showed up for surgery. The high level of professionalism , concern and courtesy shown by all at this office is second to the skill set by Dr. Callum in removing all of the teeth and roots with such a minimum amount of pain with not even a hint of infection. The wait was a bit long, but they were all very caring, friendly and professional. I would certainly return if needed and definitely recommend them. They were very easy to deal with, and explained things clearly.

All the people I dealt with here are so kind, happy and patient. Dr. Cullum was a delight as well with the very same attributes. I felt very safe and confident with them and my surgery was a success (except I "swished" too hard)! I would highly recommend Dr. Cullum and his staff too anyone!

I could not have better things to say about these folks and the care we received. Simply put... this was a terrific experience.. as much as oral surgery could be ;) Everyone in this office is kind, concerned, and professional. We enjoyed every one of them. My daughter was so comfortable with every part of the process and their communication was excellent with us both. I teased that we were sorry that this wasn't going to be a reoccurring relationship with their office because they are just wonderful. We couldn't have been happier! Very, very highly recommend!

We had a great experience at Dr. Cullum's office. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. They thoroughly answered all of our questions regarding billing and insurance. Dr. Cullum explained the procedure well so we understood what to expect during and after. His staff explained the after care thoroughly as well, and are available any time you have an immediate need. They were very quick to send prescriptions to the pharmacy, which can sometimes take a while for certain doctor offices. The office is clean. The waiting room is comfortable. The building is easy to find. It was, overall, a very good experience!

He works QUICKLY and almost aggressively. He was poking that needle in there like crazy, numbing everything thoroughly, and then he yanked 3 teeth in about 25 minutes without causing undue pain. When I squeeked, he went back for the the numbing needle and fixed the pain right away. Look elsewhere for a gentle soft touch...or go to Dr Cullum for a really fast, somewhat frenetic and stressful, but really effective procedure. He is very personable, and his staff is good. I had to sit in the waiting room for a while, but my experience was pretty good overall, at least as good as pulling teeth can be.
