We pride ourselves on providing personalized attention, in a family based environment, in order to meet the needs of every person who walks in the door. Dr. Helms was born and raised in greater Lafayette and graduated from William Henry Harrison High School. He then pursued a degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Purdue University where he graduated with highest distinction. While at Purdue he also co-founded the Purdue Pre-Dental Club. Dr. Helms then moved to Indianapolis to study dentistry at IU school of Dentistry where he graduated second in his class. He also received the James E. Humphrey, D.D.S. Memorial Scholarship Award and the Maynard K. Hine award, given to the dental student displaying the highest level of professionalism as voted on by their peers. Dr. Helms then pursued his love of orthodontics at IU School of Dentistry where he received his Master of Science in Dentistry, Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Helms is very committed to continuing education and furthering his knowledge. His research pertaining to occlusion has been published in a peer reviewed journal.
Dr. Helms lives in Lafayette with his wife Megan and their children, Hudson and Marley. They have two dogs, Griffin, and Leroy. Dr. Helms spends most of his free time with his children and loves hanging out with friends and family. He especially enjoys cheering on the Boilermakers! He also enjoys grilling, running, fishing, roasting coffee, and board games.

We love Image Orthodontics. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I really like that they tell you how long the next appointment will take. Dr. Helms is so knowledgeable and friendly. I am looking forward to seeing my son's new smile.

We have been seeing Dr. Helms for several years due to lots of issues needing to be worked on. It always amazes me at how much he knows about my daughter's progress every time. He is very detailed and knowledgeable. Both he and his staff are super nice and patient. I went on a recommendation and I recommend him anytime anyone mentions orthodontic needs.

I had an appointment with our family's orthodontist yesterday. I already respected his thorough and thoughtful attention to detail and patient care, but yesterday he impressed me even more! During a break in our consultations yesterday, he was telling me about an expensive piece of high-tech equipment he recently purchased. He told me his wife handles the financial side of the business, so that he doesn't have to look at the numbers and as he explained it, "so that the numbers don't affect his decision making". He didn't want the numbers to influence the recommendations he made to patients, so he separated himself from that part of the business, in order to be able to provide the best care without being overly influenced by which items might bring in more money. In an effort to optimize patient care, his wife asked him why he didn't have this piece of equipment, and he just explained that he knew it was very expensive. She asked him, "Would it help with patient comfort and ease of practice?" And he answered, "Yes". She asked, "Would it help you provide better patient care with more accurate information? Would it help you do your job better?" And again, he said, "Yes." She responded, "Then the decision is already made!" So, I don't know her, but I really like her too! I really appreciated that he was focused on doing the right thing for his patients and not motivated to do specific things only because they'd bring in more profit. The care, time and attention we've received have been excellent from him and from his wonderful staff. I just wanted to share this story, because it was refreshing and reinforced the reason I take my family to Image Orthodontics. Thanks for being excellent Dr. Ryan Helms and team!

I came to the initial consult, convinced I did not need braces. My concerns were taken seriously and I was made to feel at ease. Dr. Helms spent a considerable amount of time discussing my case and I was very satisfied with this appointment.

Dr. Helms and his team are amazing!!! I just had my third child's initial consult today, and once again I was reminded that Dr. Helms treats each every child with the most superb care but also recognizes that each child is different and has different needs. Dr. Helms answered all of our questions, took time out of his day to contact an oral surgeon for further investigation, and even got back with me the same day to share what the oral surgeon had to say. I just cannot say enough positive things about Image Orthodontics. They are the BEST and have played such a vital role in all 3 of my kids' lives! Thank you, Dr. Helms & Team!
