Finding the ideal balance between professional life and personal life can often be precarious, especially for such professions as dentistry that demand incredible commitment. For Dr. Rana Faranesh, walking this wire is made less problematic by the genuine enjoyment she derives from refining her technique.
Faraneshs father, Sam, first came to the United States to attend college in Texas, majoring in mathematics. Thereafter, he returned to his hometown of Nazareth in Israel to court and marry her mother, Diana. Originating from a small Catholic Palestinian community, Faraneshs parents emigrated from Nazareth to the Flint, Michigan area to start a family.
Her early years was spent there among her two brothers, Sam and Wasim, and her younger sister, Sarena. In the mid 1980s, while she was in first grade, Faraneshs family moved to Las Vegas, where the familys relatives had already settled.
It was in her childhood that she first showed an inclination towards more artistic and cerebral pursuits, qualities that extended into adulthood. Id say I was introverted, really well behaved, and kept to myself, she says. I really liked to draw and first thought I was going to be an artist or designer, perhaps fashion.
Faranesh was enrolled at two prestigious local Catholic schools for her primary and secondary education, St. Viator and Bishop Gorman, respectively. Following graduation, she sought a change of scenery, albeit one not too far away, settling on University of Nevada, Reno.
After earning her bachelors in biology and physics, the desire for home and family led to her choosing to become a dentist. While studying at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine alongside future Streamline alumni Dr. Amy Tongsiri and Dr. Jeff Redlinger, Faranesh came to find her niche and passion as a dentist.
I really came to like the hands-on, technical aspect of dentistry and my creative background really helped me in that, she says. We would make teeth out of wax in school, kind of like pottery work. I did so well at that, all the students in my class would trade things for me to wax teeth for them, which I actually liked doing.
Earning her DMD from the School of Dental Medicine, Faranesh honed her skills over the next six years working for a large group practice. In 2014, her friend and classmate Amy Tongsiri merged her practice with Streamline and sought to bring Faranesh into the fold as well.
I was hesitant at the time, because I was already working somewhere, she explains. Deciding to trust in her friend and test the waters, Faranesh met with Streamlines Dr. Tran, which ultimately cemented her decision.
I thought that it was probably time for a change and its always good to keep evolving and moving forward, she says. Faranesh joined Streamline in November 2014, and began operating out of the Image Dental branch on West Sahara Ave.
Though this is a group, it has more of a private practice feel; were not so stretched out, she says. All the doctors have a very close relationship, theres better communication among owners and associate dentists, and having our own lab makes a big difference.
Faranesh feels the patients benefit greatly from the close communication among the Streamline team, with more personalized care, quicker response and improved quality of care. In particular, she has availed herself of Streamlines commitment to being on the cutting edge of dental care and use of burgeoning technologies.
I do all my own root canals, implants, pretty much everything, she says. I find that patients dont want to be sent somewhere else and have to get used to another doctor. Even myself, as a patient, I just want to get everything done at one place.
With many dentists regularly working six days a week, Faranesh is vigilant about maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Finding that balance is an eternal goal of mine, as I really enjoy my work and go through phases in wanting to spend more time at home or work.
Faraneshs personal interests range from cooking and being embarrassingly, really into Taylor Swift, to more exotic fare such as bungee jumping, sky diving and cliff jumping. She describes herself as friendly, introverted and loyal, and wields a dry sense of humor that can be unintentionally funny.
Unsurprising for a doctor intent on learning and utilizing all aspects of dentistry she can absorb, Faranesh is highly analytical and knows where she wants to be in five and ten years. Id like to eventually be an owner of a practice, start a family, she says. Id like to be able to work part-time at my practice and own a caf, because I really like coffee and I used to be a barista. I love the atmosphere of a caf, laid back, cozy, lounge-y.
Faraneshs happy medium comes down to her passion for her work, interacting directly with her patients and helping those in need of treatment. Its not just work for me, but my hobby as well, she explains. I really care about the people I see and want to provide the best treatment possible, break through any apprehension they may be feeling. When you can accomplish that and really help someone, Its a great feeling.
I have enjoyed the privilege and challenge of practicing dentistry since my graduation from UCLA in 1980. My career has basically been devoted to three elements of practice; patient care, teaching students in the dental schools, and consulting work for colleagues. While my lifes work has always involved all three of these areas of my specialty, I have been more or less involved with these aspects at different times during my career.
Annette Arevalos has nearly two decades of experience in dentistry. Her passion for education and prevention led her to hygiene school at the College of Southern Nevada. Now a graduate of CSN, Annette is committed to helping patients achieve healthy, beautiful smiles! When not in the office, Annette enjoys reading, traveling, cheering on the Vegas Golden Knights, and spending time with her husband, Karl, and their 3 children.
Holly Erickson first started getting interested in dental hygiene when she visited her dentist for cleanings in middle school. Following her passion, she graduated from the College of Southern Nevada and she continues to share her passion by educating patients on the importance of dental hygiene! When not in the office, Holly and her 2 dogs enjoy hiking, running, and playing in the pool. She also plays piano, snowboards and enjoys traveling to new places.
Abraham Sanchez-Estrada has been fascinated with dentistry since his own childhood dental office visits. A graduate of the College of Southern Nevada, Abraham is committed to helping our patients achieve healthy, beautiful smiles! When not hard at work , Abraham enjoys hiking, working out, traveling and spending time with his family and German Shepard, Patron.
Rose graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in 2020 from West Coast University and continued to pursue her education. She will be completing her Master of Health Administration degree in the coming months. Roses interest in the dental field has been a long-time passion. Her desire to expand her knowledge on how to help patients has led her to a career she loves. When not educating patients on the importance of oral health, Rose enjoys spending time with family, trying new restaurants and foods, and relaxing with her dogs Daisy and Pucci.
Shea is a 2016 graduate of Mohave Community Colleges Dental Hygiene Program. Her goal is to help make patients feel more confident about their smile and themselves. When not in the office, Shea enjoys outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, and sand drag racing. She and her husband also stay busy parenting their new daughter, Ally, and their 3 dogs.

I absolutely hate Dentists. However....this was the most wonderful visit that I have ever ever had. The staff made you comfortable right at the door, and the Dentist I had, Rana.....top notch, with one hell of a sense of humor. Did not make me feel like I was just another patient.

I went to Dr. G after I received veneers from another doctor who failed to address that an infection formed in my face one day placing the veneers! Upon entering Dr. G's office the staff and Dr. G addressed me with the most professional emergency care one could receive. Dr. G was prompt and got me into a specialist immediately. Dr. G continued to follow up with me to ensure I was receiving the proper care. Image Dental is the best and they care about their patients!

My experience was horrifying and amazing. Dr. Gizelle is an awesome passionate dentist. She's very detailed and particular about her work. She's patient and thorough with the final outcome. Her assistant and most of the staff at Image Dental are also amazing. She took me in on short notice and completed 2 root canals. Dr. Gizelle made me feel extremely comfortable when I was in so much pain. She was also very polite and nice. She even helped me with my studies. I love her work ethics!! My finished look is perfect and better than before. Now my complaint is with the front receptionist. When I arrived she handed me forms to fill out. Touched my hand with a thermometer for temperature check(did not clean before or after touching me or the patient after me). Once I completed the forms while standing at the desk, she yells out from no where at a distance and questions "you are 60yrs old!?" Very embarrassing, because not only am I 9yrs shy from it, the lobby had patients waiting. So loud that the receptionist next to her had to chime in to try and save her. The other waiting patients had to look away and down at their phones.They felt uncomfortable for me.That was the MOST unprofessional, insulting experience at a medical/dental facility I ever had in my 51yrs. Never had any doctor or dental office ever yell my age out at a counter in a room surrounding other patients. That information should be kept private and discussed in a discreet setting. Had she looked at my records that were open directly in front of her she would've known that it was far from the truth. She needs to be coached on proper sanitation and what should or shouldn't be said or asked out loud when it's pertaining personal information. I was so embarrassed and insulted at the same time, I started having that nervous feeling throughout my body that I was ready to walk out the door. Her inappropriate behavior nearly ruined my experience. Except for when I quickly entered the peaceful room where my beautiful affordable crowns were placed on. I almost forgot about the insult until I had to pass her while leaving. Ultimately, my experience was awesome in the chair. So, if you can just get past the untrained receptionist, your experience will be great! Bring a sweater, office is always cold!! Dr Gizelle, dental assistant, and financial department gets 5 stars receptionist gets a Zero!!

I just want to jump on here and give a quick shout out to Kayla, she was the individual who took care of me after I lost a veneer during my Vegas vacation. As most of us know your smile can be a huge source of insecurity, or pride. So as you can imagine it would be difficult walking around with the missing tooth. This was the experience I was having and it was personally very traumatizing. Kayla took amazing care of me and made a beautiful custom temporary for me until I was able to fly home. The next day. Kayla even wiped my tears during my emotional breakdown. She made me feel safe, and was so supportive and patient with me. I'll never forget her kindness that day going above and beyond the call of duty. I'm sure it's not easy taking care of a grown man in his 30s crying about a missing tooth.

This dentist office is full of Gods Angels. They care about you and it shows. They made the impossible possible for me today and I couldn't be more thankful! Thank you to Veronica and Maria who kept in constant communication with me and made sure I was taken care of. Thank you for the Doctors and rest of the team for being so kind and patient with me. My daughter and I have been coming to Dr. Gizelle for a couple of years now. We just adore her. She's very gentle and explains everything ahead of time. The office itself has a family feeling and everyone we've met is so helpful and kind. No surprise bills here. All financial plans are arranged ahead of time and approved by you before work is done. I can't say enough good about Image Dental and Dr. Gizelle.

Dr Gisele changed my life. I was a person that hated the dentist and hadn't been to the dentist in years. I had just told myself whatever happened with my teeth and dental health was just going to be what it was because of fear. The sounds and noises raised my anxiety off the charts. Finally I was having a toothache and figured ok I guess I will go and get this checked out. I met Dr Gisele with tears in my eyes I was terrified, she stopped and got down eye to eye with me and said "it's ok you are here now and there's no judgment". She said we are going to take care of this together". Now months later I've grown to just love her and her team. I have had a lot of work done anf actually have braces on my teeth. I brush and floss my teeth at least twice a day sometimes more. I say to myself lord of time-who is this person? Seriously Dr. G helped to restore my self esteem, self love and pride in myself. I actually smile these days more than I have ever in my life. Everyone is so nice I honestly have not met 1 rude person on her team. If you are looking for a great dentist with a nice, kind and caring team look no more give Dr G and her staff staff at Image Dental a try. Dr G and staff thank you!!! Angelitta

Dr. Rana Faranesh Is the absolute best ! I had to get an emergency root canal and as soon as she started working on me the pain was gone ! Even after the procedure was completed and I came home I was in no pain! She is so professional and sweet and treats her staff with respect. I highly recommend her!

My first appointment went fairly well. I got a cleaning done and some x-rays. When I called to update my insurance this year to have a cleaning done, they told me they needed to verify my insurance and would call me once they did so. A week later, I hadn't received a phone call so I gave them a call, they said they'd call me back... no call... called back... still no call so I gave up. :(
