Established in 2018Iliff Family Dental has deep roots in the Aurora community. The practice was started by Dr. Slack and has resided in its current location for more than 17 years. Before Dr. Henes took over the practice, Dr. Kalra practiced at the same location under the name Axiom Dental Group for fifteen years. Dr. Henes is determined to provide top quality care for patients just as Dr. Slack and Dr. Kalra have done in the past.

Dr. Christopher Henes was born and raised outside of Detroit, MI. Dr. Henes was drawn to dentistry due to the ability to work with his hands and help patients, but fell in love with dentistry because he is able to meet new individuals every day and to create lifetime relationships, all while helping patients achieve their oral health goals. Dr. Henes graduated from University of Detroit Mercy with da Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in May of 2013. After graduation, Dr. Henes completed a one year residency at Denver Health. It was during that residency that Dr. Henes became more experienced in molar root canals, extraction, restoring smiles, developing complex treatment plans, and working with medically complex patients. After completing his residency, Dr. Henes continued to work at Denver Health at their Westside Dental clinic and more recently was the past residency Director. Dr. Henes loves meeting new people and helping them achieve their overall health goals. In his spare, time you can find Dr. Henes and his wife, Ashley, out and about doing all the wonderful things Colorado has to offer biking, hiking, skiing, and trying out new restaurants.

Originally from Southern California, Joy moved here to Colorado with her son and daughter 9 years ago. She has been in dentistry for over 30 years, starting out as an assistant at the age of 15 and working her way through schedule coordinating, treatment planning, and office manager. She has spent the last 9 years as a practice management consultant for dental practices; however, she missed being a part of the dental team and working with the patients. She has been the office manager for Iliff Family Dental for over a year. In her free time, Joy travels to Las Vegas to visit her son in college, and California to surf and body board. While she is here in Colorado, she loves to hike with her daughter and her grand-dog Ramsey.

Melissa moved to Colorado from the southeast in 2017. She loves movies, reading, and traveling. She has been in the dental field for four years. Melissa became a dental hygienist because she believes that helping someone achieve a great, healthy smile builds their confidence! After all, your smile may be the first thing someone notices about you.

Iris has been working in the dental field since 1990 as a dental assistant. She received her Expanded Duty Dental certification in 1994 from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. She enjoys working with our patients to make the best of their dental experiences. Iris enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Are you self-conscious because of missing teeth, or because you wear dentures that are uncomfortable? Implant dentistry has come a long way and offers restorative solutions that look, feel and function just like your natural teeth. With affordable dental implants from Iliff Family Dental you have no reason to hide your smile anymore!

Dental implants are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth and are designed to imitate your surrounding teeth. Dental implants are a safe and effective alternative to traditional crown and bridgework. This is because they are an excellent long-term option for restoring your smile. Dental implants are a great option for individuals who are just missing one tooth in one location or multiple single teeth throughout their mouth. Dr. Henes and his team will work with you to help find the best option to restore not only your functionality but also your aesthetics.

Implants are small, titanium screws that are placed into your bone just like the roots of a normal tooth. After a period of healing, your bone will integrate to the titanium screw and act as an anchor for a crown. The prosthetic crowns placed on implants look and feel like natural teeth while increasing functionality, comfort, and confidence.

Implant Dentistry is categorized as a form of prosthetic, or artificial replacement dentistry, but is also considered a form ofcosmetic dentistry. Dental implants are titanium posts that are placed into your jawbone, beneath your gum. Once in place, the area is healed for 3-6 months. Once the implant is completely stable and integrated into the bone then we are ready for replacement, or prosthetic teeth to be mounted on them.

Dental implants act as replacements for roots, giving a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth or bridges, and are designed to match your teeth. Dentures or bridges mounted to your implants wont slip or shift in your mouth, enabling you to eat and speak normally.

The process of fusion between your dental implant and jawbone is called osseointegration. Titanium is a material that allows the implants to integrate with the bone without the body identifying it as a foreign material, resulting in excellent outcomes. Today, the success rate for dental implants is about 98%.

Implant surgery is a team effort between the surgery and the overall restorative product we want to deliver. Because the final objective is to replace an area that had a missing tooth, we want to be able to put that crown or bridge in the right spot. Because of this we might have to add bone prior or during implant placement to have the best outcome.

We also offer dental implant supported dentures. Your dental implants simply serve as an anchor to your dentures. Tooth implant supported dentures offer major benefits, including less worry about the maintenance and inconvenience of traditional dentures. Our patients love being able to eat.

Having a dental implant fused to the jawbone is the closest thing to a natural tooth. By restoring your missing tooth roots, dental implants provide stability to eat all the foods you love, without struggling to chew. Additionally, they help to stimulate and maintain jaw bone, preventing bone loss and supporting your facial features.

Implants are utilized to restore a missing tooth, several teeth, or all of your teeth. The goal of tooth replacement in dentistry is to restore function as well as aesthetics. You will enjoy improved appearance, speech, comfort, and oral health. Dental implants eliminate the need to deal with removable dentures as well as the adhesives you need to keep them in place. Implants are durable and with proper care, may last a lifetime!

The surgical procedure involves administering a local anesthetic to numb the area. The first stage of oral surgery includes extracting any existing damaged teeth. At times, an alveolar bone graft is required to achieve a stable bone base for your implant. This site will be left to heal for two to six months.

If a site has no teeth and bone loss is present, you may require an onlay bone graft, which involves placing bone material on top of the existing jawbone. This procedure usually entails about six months of healing.

Once adequate bone is present the site is ready for the implant surgery. The dental implant which is a small post made of titanium is placed into the bone. A healing cap covers the implant and the healing phase begins.

During the healing phase, a temporary denture can be made to replace missing teeth. Healing time is usually from three to six months. During this time, the implant becomes integrated with the bone in a process called osseointegration.

After the healing period, we will connect aprosthetic replacement (crown)to the dental implant via a screw which is called an abutment. After making an impression of your mouth, we will custom make the implant crown to fit. We will either cement on or secure the implant crown with a screw to the abutment.

We will make sure to match the color of the new teeth to your natural teeth. The resulting replacement teeth look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth. Most people who have received dental implants say that there is little discomfort involved in the procedure.

It may sound painful to have a dental implant done, but for most patients, the process is easier than removing a tooth. The procedure is typically done with a local anesthetic with the patient awake and comfortable throughout the entirety of the process.

Teeth whitening is a simple and easy procedure that can be completed in our dental office in as little as an hour. Youd be surprise how much whiter your teeth will look after only an hour. Bleaching / whitening in-office is a safe and easy procedure for individuals who want whiter teeth now.

Whitening is a easy and simple procedure. When you come in, we will take a pre-whitening shade of your teeth so you can see the difference in your teeth when we are done. Next, we will protect your gums and the rest of your mouth from the bleaching gel. Once you are completely isolated, we will begin the first 15-minute session of whitening. After those 15 minutes, we will rinse off the bleaching gel and repeat up to two more times. After the bleaching is complete, we will take a post-shade so you can see the difference.

The great thing about at home whitening is that you can control when and how often you whiten your teeth. With at-home whitening, you are given specific whitening trays that are made to fit you and only you. Once you have them, you place the whitening gel in the trays and wear them for the desired amount of time.

At-home bleaching is a great tool to use in conjunction with in-office whitening when you notice you need a touch up with your whitening. Some bleaching solutions can whiten your teeth in as little as three to five days.

Porcelain crowns are needed when a large filling is needed for your tooth, you recently had a root canal, or one of your current crowns has failed. No matter the reason you may need dental crowns, know you are in great hands seeing Dr. Christopher Henes and his staff at Iliff Family Dental. Porcelain is the most lifelike material that can be used to fashion dental crowns. Because porcelain is so lifelike it is only understanding that we use the most lifelike material for something like your front teeth. This will improve your overall appearance. If your front tooth needs a crown, we will use the most natural, beautiful, durable and translucent porcelain.

  • After the impression is taken, the dental team will then place temporary crowns while you wait for your permanent porcelain crowns which typically takes 1 week. If you elect to have a same day crown fabricated then we will fabricate the crown in office.
  • A bridge helps replace a missing tooth or teeth with something that doesnt have to be removed from your mouth daily to clean. A bridge is supported by two healthy teeth on either side of a missing tooth or teeth. Using those two healthy teeth, crowns are placed on those teeth and an artificial tooth is placed between them and cemented into place. Because this is cemented into place you dont have to worry about taking it in and out like a partial denture. Missing teeth not only affects your appearance, but can interfere with speech and chewing and allows other teeth to drift into misalignment. It is crucial to keep your remaining teeth healthy and strong and in correct alignment.

When you have misaligned teeth or even a small fracture on your tooth, you can repair or fix those by something as easy as composite bonding. Composite bonding is a minimally invasive treatment option in cosmetic dentistry to help improve your smile. This technique uses tooth-colored composite, giving you durable results and an immediate smile makeover at an economical price.

The composite bonding procedure involves preparation of the involved tooth/teeth, conditioning of the tooth surface, applying tooth-colored composite material, and is followed by finishing and polishing the restoration.

Dr. Henes can help you take the first step towards getting the radiant smile you deserve with Invisalign clear aligners. With Invisalign, you can straighten your teeth without anyone around you being the wiser. Invisalign treatment involves a series of clear, removable aligners designed to gradually improve your alignment and bite. This means you wont have to shy away from the camera while youre undergoing treatment, and you wont have to inconvenience yourself by drastically altering your oral healthcare routine.

  • Before treatment begins, Dr. Henes maps out a detailed, individualized treatment plan for each patient. Part of that plan includes a digital 3D representation of how your teeth will shift during treatment.
  • During treatment, Invisalign works seamlessly with your lifestyle. For best results, aligners should be worn between 20 and 22 hours every day. However, they are virtually invisible, so most people wont notice you are wearing them.
  • The Invisalign aligners are also removable, so you can eat and drink normally. You also remove them to brush and floss, helping you maintain fresh breath and good oral hygiene. Because there are no metal brackets or wires, you will experience less mouth irritation with Invisalign than with traditional braces.
  • Most adults wear the aligners about 12 months, but treatment time for teenage patients varies. After treatment, most doctors recommend using a retainer after treatment. Every case is different, though, so talk to Dr. Henes about your specific situation.
