Dr. Igel was born in Omaha and graduated from the Creighton University School of Dentistry. He received his masters degree and certificate in orthodontics from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He has served as a clinical professor of orthodontics at both UNMC College of Dentistry and Creighton University School of Dentistry. His research and articles have been published numerous times in orthodontic journals.

When not at work creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Igel enjoys traveling and spending time at home with his wife, Marie, and their three dogs and two cats. He and Marie also enjoy spending time with friends and family. Dr. Igel has two daughters, Kia and Kortni, and a stepson, Brandon. He is a HUGE Husker fanatic and avid sports fan in general, especially when it comes to football.
