Dr. Iennusa is a 1999 graduate of the LSUHSC School of Dentistry. Upon graduation, he was accepted into the General Practice Residency at LSUHSC-Charity Hospital New Orleans where he was operating room chief resident of the Department of General Dentistry. His responsibilities included working as part of a medical team that provided treatment to medically compromised patients, organ transplant patients and patients undergoing treatment for various types of cancer. In 2001 he joined a private general dentistry practice in Mandeville and practiced general dentistry full-time until 2005 at which time he began practicing part-time and working as a sales consultant for multiple orthodontic companies. In 2011, Dr. Iennusa was accepted into the LSUHSC Orthodontic Residency. He graduated in 2013 and since that time has maintained a private orthodontic practice in Mandeville, conveniently and centrally located in the Beau Chene Business Park II at the East entrance of the Beau Chene subdivision.
He is a 1989 graduate of Holy Cross High School and earned a B.S. in Zoology and Physiology with a minor in Psychology in 1994 from Louisiana State University. He resides in Mandeville with his wife, Alyssa, a registered dental hygienist, and his three children, Claire, Julia and Andrew. He is very active in the community and has served as president of the Our Lady of the Lake Men's Club, President of the LA Association of Orthodontists and is on the Board of Directors of Our Lady of the Lake Retreat House in Grand Coteau, LA.
Dr. Iennusa takes great pride in treating his patients and truly treats each one as he would treat a member of his family. His goal is to provide the highest quality care to his patients while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. When not in the office, Dr. Iennusa consistently attends continuing education courses in order to stay abreast of the latest orthodontic technology that allows him to provide state-of-the-art treatment. He is an avid LSU fan (and former snare drummer for the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland) and can often be found at one of his children's athletic events or with his son chasing redfish and speckled trout.

Dr Iennusa did braces for 2 of my children and he did a great job! He and his assistant, Cindy, are very friendly and patient. They explain everything thoroughly. Both of my children were comfortable with him and he always had a great bedside manner. His beautiful office is clean and new. I could not recommend him more highly!

Dr. Iennusa's practice is a breath of fresh air in the Mandeville area! You will experience a pleasant and personable orthodontist office every time you walk in the door. You are welcomed with personalized attention where Dr. Iennusa will explain the treatment plan in detail but in simple to understand terms. He doesn't stack patients like sardines in his office and make you feel rushed. He doesn't have a room full of technicians doing the work that he just checks behind. His approach is to truly get to know his patients, determine the best course of treatment for each patient and give you the best orthodontic care around. He has an amazing assistant, Cindy, that keeps the office organized and running efficiently as well. In addition, Dr. Iennusa is conservative in care and will not put you in braces for the sake of money. He followed my daughter for 7 years before he put her braces. My girls love going to his office. He also offers affordable payment plans. His prices were in line with other orthodontist in the area. I have not been disappointed in the past 7 years we have been a patient in his practice. You will not be disappointed! He is a hidden gem in Mandeville that you don't want to miss!

Dr. John has been exceptional for my daughter's treatment. I am so pleased with how her smile has turned out. He is a perfectionist and wouldn't take my daughter's braces off until her teeth were perfect. He was always concerned with her hygiene during her treatment. We actually drove from the south shore for treatment because he is just that good. Obviously, the person who gave him 1 star has never heard of your get what you pay for!! Without models being done on a patient you won't have the information needed for the proper treatment. I'm in the dental field and having impressions and models are the standard of care for orthodontics. So I would say stay clear of offices not doing that. That is what you call a factory and they don't care about your child's outcome. Being in the dental field I know the ins and outs of dentistry and Dr. John follows the best standard of care. I would refer anyone to him. My family couldn't be happier with the smile our daughter achieved. Thanks Dr. John.

Dr. Iennusa is an incredible orthodontist. He is always extremely attentive, has the best bedside manner and is very transparent when it comes to costs involved in treatment. He always takes the time to explain treatment, and makes you feel comfortable and at ease through the whole process. He is not only a great orthodontist, but is also an amazing human being. Definitely recommend him to anyone looking for an Orthodontist!!

Dr. Iennusa is a wonderful orthodontist who truly takes pride in treating his patients. He and his assistant Cindy are very professional and always is kind. He has treated my wife and three children. Before each treatment, he thoroughly went through the whole process, expectations and costs. We are very happy with all our ortho treatments. I would highly recommend Dr. Iennusa if you are looking for a very knowledgeable and trusted orthodontist!

Dr.Iennusa is truly an expert in the field of orthodontics!!! He is genuinely caring and compassionate when it comes to his patients and their families. Upon entering the beautiful, comfortable, and immaculately clean office, Cindy greets you with a warm, friendly smile. The welcoming received is comforting and it is always a treat to see so many familiar faces from the community who also value this outstanding practice. You never have to wait nor do you ever feel rushed. Dr. Iennusa took the time to provide a detailed explanation of the proposed treatment and answered all of my questions. We enjoy his positive, approachable, and hilarious personality! Always putting us at ease, always informing us of the next step, scheduled visits, and how things are progressing. Dr. Iennusa has treated both of my children and I can not express enough how thoroughly we have enjoyed him and his attention to detail. Excellent results and beautiful smiles!! Buyer beware, this Dentist lies and has very shady business practices. He forces patients to pay an upfront $346.00, and claims to take molds and xrays of your child's mouth, then he makes you come back for a second visit to convey a treatment plan. It was only when pressed about his non-posted policy, that he becomes rude, and dismissive. There is no visible policy posted explaining this, and you cant get a final number for what the braces cost until after he takes your upfront payment and return. $6000 was the verbal quote, he shouted a crossed the room, we dismissed this amount, and informed we didn't agree with business model, or level of service. Lastly, he agreed to refund our money as we had two children being evaluated for braces. He only issued half of our $692 paid charges. He isnt a man of his word, and since Nov 2021 we have been awaiting the remainder of our funds to be returned. Today, 15 Mar 2022, we contacted him today, requesting refund status, he then yelled at my wife over the phone and hung up (he indicated that she cursed and yelled at him, for this is a lie). This doctor feels threatened by anyone challenging his unethical actions. As I visited his location, on site (as he indicated uninvited and without an appointment) he called the police indicated that I was yelling at him, again not true. He explained to the local police that he was the victim, and more lies about my simply requesting the refund that he already agreed to. This doctor is unethical, and has deliberately shady policies to take advantage of parents having to provide very expensive braces for their children. To date, both our children have braces from Smile Doctors, their process has no issues, no upfront or hidden costs, evaluated our child, and attached the top braces the same day, total services were provided for $3900.00 opposed to Mr. John Lennusa's $6000.00 braces and the $346 for molds and his treatment plan. The topper is since Nov 2021, John claims he was awaiting for us to provide our dental insurance, that we still never provided it to him. This is misleading and a lie, because in 4 months since the incident , his office never called once? Poor Dr. John Lennusa must be the victim, he takes people's money, doesnt follow normal procedures, and over charges his customers. Im am sure he will spout a response how he was wonderful, and the true victims, because I told him I was going to call the police, the next day, he laughed and said we're closed tomorrow, but I'll give you a refund of $79.00. This doctor has a lot of emotional issues, his office always seems to be empty, as we have seen is business approach, we can understand why. Danger, avoid, and go down the street to smile doctors, office is always packed, normal prices, and great service.

John Iennusa is an exceptional orthodontist. He has treated myself and both of my daughters. We are beyond happy with the results. Before starting our treatments, he sat down with me and thoroughly went over the treatment plan and payment. He genuinely cares for his patients. His assistant, Cindy, is also personable and knowledgeable about orthodontics. I would highly recommend him as an orthodontist.

I couldn't disagree more with the previous 1 star post. Dr. Ienussa has treated both of my children and our experience has been nothing short of exceptional. He is an extremely friendly man who will work with you throughout the process when flexibility is needed. The new office is beautiful and he spaces out appointments to keep a nice private experience. He was very thorough and if you saw my son's banged up grill before he started, you would be amazed at what his teeth look like now. We get the last braces off soon and I am thrilled with the results.
