If youre missing one or more teeth, youre not alone. About120 million peoplein the United States are missing at least one tooth. A missing tooth is more than just an embarrassment tooth gaps can wreck the teeth you have and cause jaw and other problems.

Dr. Kenneth HigginsatIDTC Dental Centerin Grand Prairie, Texas, wants you to understand whydental implants which restore the function of your mouth just like natural teeth are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth.

There are many reasons teeth can fall out. Dental decay and gum disease are chief reasons for tooth loss. Also, injury and cancer can create this difficult dental issue for some people. Even everyday wear can cause tooth loss.

In the past, dentures and dental bridges were the only appliances that could fill the spaces left by missing teeth. Today, however, dental implants are your best option for having a permanent complete smile.

A dental implant consists of a titanium post implanted into your jaw. This post acts as a tooth root and serves as a foundation for a small connecting device called an abutment that attaches the artificial tooth to the implant. If youre missing several teeth, a dental implant bridge can connect several artificial teeth to the implants.

The prosthetic crown that sits above your gum, attached to the implanted root, is crafted to look identical to your surrounding natural teeth. The crown is firmly attached, so you dont have to worry about slippage during eating or slurred speech, which sometimes can happen with dentures or bridges. With dental implants, you can eat what you want.

Implants also help protect your oral health. When you lose a tooth, the bone underneath can degrade over time. This erosion can weaken bonds with nearby teeth that tend to move to close a tooth gap, and those teeth eventually can loosen and fall out.

Dental implants are customized to look like your natural teeth. When you decide to have a dental implant, we take X-rays of your mouth to select the best placement location for your implant. We also determine jawbone strength. In some cases, you might need a bone graft to shore up weak jawbones before the implant procedure.

We place the implant into your jaw during outpatient surgery. It takes several months for the implant to fuse with your jawbone. Once it has, we attach an abutment and the custom-designed artificial tooth or teeth.

Dr. Kenneth Higginsand our experienced team atIDTC Dental Centerin Grand Prairie, Texas, offer Invisaligna state-of-the-art orthodontic system so you can improve the lookandhealth of your smile all at the same time.

You might not associate straight teeth with fewer cavities, but the reality is that straighter teeth can help you avoid unwanted tooth decay, especiallydecay between two teeth. When your teeth are crowded tightly together, its harder to floss. Flossing removes plaque, bacteria, and debris from between your teeth, and without adequate flossing, your risk of tooth decay increases.

Traditional braces use metal brackets and wires to move your teeth. While effective, the metal brackets can contribute to blisters, sores, or cuts in your mouth or on your lips. Invisalign doesnt use metal. Instead, your clear aligner trays are made of a soft, BPA-free material calledSmartTrack. Without the blisters and cuts from metal brackets, your treatment is much more comfortable.

Traditional braces make it more challenging to keep up with your oral hygiene routine at home. In particular, flossing is much more complicatedalthough not impossible. If you cant thoroughly floss along your gum line, youre more at risk for developing gingivitis. Thats not the case with Invisalign. Because Invisalign trays are removable, you can thoroughly clean your gum line.

Bite problems, including overbites and crossbites, can cause cosmetic concerns, but bad bites affect your dental health too. According to the experts atColgate, bad bitesor malocclusiondont just cause cosmetic problems, but it can lead to broken or chipped teeth as well. If your teeth dont line up, it can put strain and stress on some of your teeth, which increases the risk of tooth fractures.

Straightening your teeth and addressing malocclusion can reduce your risk of fractures related to bite problems. Fixing your bite also improves your ability to chew with ease. Invisalign can correctfour different types of malocclusion, including open bites, underbites, crossbites, and overbites.

If you have several crooked teeth or a misaligned jaw, it can affect how you chewsuch as always chewing on one side, contributing to your jaw pain. This can lead to additional stress on your temporomandibular joint (TMJ). In other words, misalignments dont just cause chipped teeth. Misaligned jaws can also contribute to jaw pain. Correcting this can improve your jaw health too.

Adequate service, however their office management system is ineffective. Scheduling appointments for when there is not dentist on site, unacceptable.

I attended the dental school so, I decided to get my four wisdom tooth extraction and some cleaning but I ended up extracting one of my tooth because the experience was terrible. The owner Mrs Smith, had charged me upfront for all the procedures I was going to get done at the clinic so, when I told her I wasn't going to continue based on the experience and time, she manually wrote an itemized receipt to the credit card company that i "Shouldn't" be given any refund because I fully used up the credit. My point is, Mrs Smith charged me for services that was "Never" rendered and "Lied" to the credit card company to get my payment. So, beware of this clinic because the owner will rip you off!!!

I've been coming here for the past month or so to get my teeth cleaned and cavities filled(the length of time is due to issues on my end), and absolutely everyone I have come in contact with here has been a pleasure to be around. They make you feel welcome and I have not once felt judged. I highly recommend getting your dental work done here if you can. Literally no complaints from me, and I'm a nightshift worker. This is equal to waking up in the middle of the night to get dental work done for me and I *still* have no complaints.

I had my very first root canal done here. I was super nervous and didn't know what to expect but they did a great job and I had minimal to no swelling or pain. They also work with you to make payment arrangements and the staff is nice and professional.
