Like many college students, Ian Barwick wasnt sure what he wanted to do once he finished school. Although he loves music and ultimately graduated with a degree in music, he always had an eye toward a career in the medical field.

Just as he was preparing to go back to school to complete his pre-med requirements, friends and family began encouraging him to consider dentistry. I played a lot of guitar in those days, so I was good with my hands, explains Dr. Barwick. Dentistry seemed to be a natural fit.

Over the years Dr. Barwick has demonstrated a great commitment to personal growth by consistently going beyond the minimum requirements for continuing professional education in dentistry. He and his wife Pat joke that hes addicted to learning. I can quit anytime! jokes Dr. Barwick.

He is constantly seeking new information about updated clinical techniques and research that can benefit you as a patient. Dr. Barwick routinely exceeds the number of continuing education hours hes required to take to maintain his license, and hes thrilled! Improving practice management and patient care are extremely important to me.

In an effort to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry, Dr. Barwick is a member of several professional organizations and regularly avails himself to the training opportunities those organizations provide.

Dr. Barwick and his wife Pat have three children and one granddaughter, the light of their lives. They enjoy hiking, snorkeling, playing tennis, cooking, and traveling. We love the ocean, and we love to go on cruises, Dr. Barwick says.

And Dr. Barwick still finds time for his music. Hes a singer/songwriter who loves to entertain and frequently attends open mic nights. Hes still playing guitar and writing songs. In fact, hes won awards for his songwriting.

I am a 1981 graduate of Middlesex Community College, where I received an Associates Degree in Science, specializing in Dental Hygiene. What I enjoy most about my job is not just educating patients about their dental health but also getting to know the patients and build lasting relationships with them. When Im not working I like spending time with my family and friends. I stay active by working out at the gym and practicing the martial art of Tae Kwon Do.
