I would like to introduce Dr. Melanie Holden as the dentist, who will be taking over for me in this dental practice. She is a graduate of the same fine dental school, which I attended, University of Florida College of Dentistry. She is very active in continuing her dental education especially in the field of implantology. The staff have taken to her immediately, and they feel as I do that your dental care will continue to be in good hands. No pun intended.
It is with deeply held mixed emotions that I write you this letter. So many of you have made me swear not to ever retire. That has warmed my heart every time I heard it. I worked with Dr. Bob DesRochers for 17 years. When he told me that he was ready to retire, I asked him why he made the decision. He told me, you know, when it is time. I know exactly what he means now. It is a multifactorial decision. One of the biggest factors is who do you trust to take over the care of your patients. That factor is satisfied with Dr. Holden agreeing to take over my responsibilities to you.
I am very excited to realize the time and freedom to get on to my bucket list. As many of you have probably suspected, Laurie and I will split our time between here and the mountains of North Carolina. We plan to visit our daughter in London in the spring. I will have more time to spend with my grandsons as I watch them grow. I cant wait to see them as pole vaulters.
The horribly sad part is saying goodbye to you and realizing how exceptionally lucky I have been. In reality, luck has nothing to do with it. It is all very predictable. I let Gods love guide me in your dental treatment planning/treatment, and very predictably His love came back to me through all of you. How do you walk away from that? It is hard to do. I have loved you and you have loved me back, but it is time. All I can do is say thank you for blessing me with the most rewarding career that I could have ever imagined.
I am a true Floridian, born and raised on the east coast. When my family relocated to the west coast, I attended Southeast High School in Bradenton. I earned a B.A. in Church Music from Florida State University while working as a church organist. I went on to dental school at University of Florida. After graduating in 2011, I bought a practice in Lake City, Florida.In 2016 my husband completed his training andtook a job as an orthopaedic trauma surgeon at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
We are thrilled to be able to raise our two little girls in this beautiful city. I'm sure you will see them around the office from time to time.Dentistry has been my passion as well as my job, and my staff and patients are an extension of my family.

I truly love my dentist! My front tooth chipped, right before the holidays and Dr. Holden saved the day with a last minute emergency appointment. Terri always goes above and beyond, and always has a warm and happy smile. I highly recommend Dr. Holden and her amazing staff.
