Our goal at Huxford and Lockhart Pediatric Dentistry is to help parents maintain good oral health of their children. We desire to educate parents and patients about dental hygiene. We also desire to shape the lives of our patients, helping them to learn coping skills in unpleasant situations, overcoming fear and anxiety while also sharing the love of Jesus with them.
Dr. Mary Paige Huxford is a pediatric specialist. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi, and continued her education at The University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, where she earned her DMD. She went on to complete a one year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. It was during this residency that she realized her desire to work exclusively with children. Dr. Huxford completed a two year pediatric dental residency at Blair E. Batson Children's Hosptial in Jackson, MS. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
During her pediatric training, Dr. Huxford obtained extensive experience treating the oral health of children, adolescents, and patients with special needs. The program allowed her an advanced level of training in minor and complex procedures as well as operating room procedures. Dr. Huxford is married to Cameron Huxford who is a pulmonary and critical care physician. They have seven children.
Tammi Lockhart is a native of Greenville, Mississippi, and graduated in 1993 from Delta State University with a BS in biology. She attended dental school at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in Jackson, Mississippi, and graduated in 1997. After graduation, she completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1999.
She then returned home to Mississippi where she joined Children's Dental Group in Clinton, Mississippi, where she practiced until December 2012. She joined Dr. Huxford in practice in January 2013. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Mississippi Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Tammi is married to Rusty Lockhart, and they are parents to three children: Will, Jake and Cate.

Dr lockhart & her team made my daughter enjoy her dental visit 1st time there. And Dr lockhart performed a full mouth rehabilitation on my daughter today at OCH. Again my daughter felt safe, was calm the whole time. Dr lockhart and her surgical team did a wonderful job. My 6 yr old daughter did well during procedure. 5 hours later my daughter is back to herself with minimal pain. I recommend anyone with kids to choose Dr lockhart. The staff at the clinic are nice and the clinic is clean. My daughter says Thank u for helping her

Huxford and Lockhart have always taken care of my children, treating them as if they were their own. The staff is always friendly and helpful and very patient with my special needs daughter. They ask about our lives, not just providing dental care, they genuinely care!

The workers and Dentist in this office are AMAZING! We are not local to Starkville but have been driving 45 mins one way just for them to be able to care for my children now 5 years or so. We could not ask for a more professional environment. They are all so kind and will listen to any and all concerns that I or my children may have and not one time have we ever felt rushed or brushed off like our old Pediatric Dentist. Thanks a million!

Only praises for BOTH Drs. Lockhart and Huxford! My now 13 year old has been seeing Dr. Lockhart since kindergarten and we've had the pleasure of meeting and being seen by Dr. Huxford this year. This child doesn't know what it means to be anxious when going to a dentist (and he's an extraordinarily anxious child about everything else!!!). If it's up to me, we'll never go anywhere else until he ages out! All the staff, in fact, are so personable and helpful as well! Love this group! Thank you all!

HEARTLESS!! My 8 daughter had a bad toothache where she cried herself to sleep the night before. The next morning I called them to see if they could see her as a emergency walk in. I explained to her my daughter was in severe pain. She look up her account and placed me on hold. She came back to the phone and told me even though it was paid because it was sent to collections they could not see her. I apologized and explain to her I moved and didn't know I had a balance as I thought insurance had cover it and when I was contacted by the collection agency I paid it. I told her to explain to the doctor it was truly an oversight and I was willing to pay whatever they charged in full upfront I just needed them to see my daughter because she in pain! She said they couldn't do that because the doctors were strict about that. How HEARTLESS can doctors be to turn away a 8-year-old!I w called Dr. Curtis office in Columbus and they got us in immediately. They actually cared and showed concern!

The dentists are wonderful, but it's very hard to get an appointment even when it's urgent. My daughter chipped her front tooth and needed an emergency appointment. When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist told me I needed to get a referral before they would see her (umm what?) and this is not her first time being there. They also told me the first available appointment they had for an emergency was 9 days away.... That's not an emergency appointment. You can't make children wait that long for an appointment while in pain. If they are this booked up, they should seriously consider opening on Fridays. Our family dentist recommended Happy Smiles in Tupelo so that's where we'll go!

Dr. Lockhart is an absolute gem and my kids love going to see her!! Chelsea is also one of our favorites. No matter who you see you won't be disappointed they are truly an amazing group.
