Unlike a lot of dentists offices, where the atmosphere is often hushed or tense, we take an upbeat approach. We always try to keep things light and relaxed. One of the first thing youll notice about Dr. Baker is that he loves what he does. Hes been in practice for more than 27 years, but he knew he wanted to be a dentist when he was seven years old. He scored in the top two percent on the dental aptitude test, as well as the National Dental Boards. He has a strong commitment to continuing education and professional development, annually taking more than 30 hours of classes involving new procedures and technologies. A sixth-generation Texan, he finds joy and fulfillment working with every patient to maximize dental health.
When you come to our office, youll work with caring, compassionate and highly effective people at all times, from our dentist, Dr. David Baker, to our talented dental technicians and office staff. In our decades in practice, we have been pioneers in providing new technologies to benefit our patients. Dr. Baker was:
Dr. David Baker has been in practice since 1988, but has known that he wanted to be a dentist since he was seven years old. He attended the University of Texas in San Antonio and went to dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he received the General Practice Award as Most Likely to Succeed. After graduation, he scored in the top 2% nationally in his dental boards, including the top 2% in root canal therapy and in periodontal disease. He says that, while most of his dental school classmates found the experience difficult and exhausting, he loved every minute of it.
Throughout his career, Dr. Baker has always been committed to continuing education and to enhancing his knowledge and skills. He regularly exceeds the 12 hour educational requirement by taking 30 hours of continuing education, and is on track in 2015 to have more than 100 hours of additional training. He embraces new technologies and has pioneered a number of procedures in the Austin area:
A sixth generation Texan, Dr. Baker is a member of St. John Newman Catholic Church, has two daughters, a son and a granddaughter. When not in the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing and photography.

I was and have been afraid of going to the dentist. I've had bad experiences with dentis and my pain threshold was always off the chart. My wife took me with her to her appointment and right away after speaking with the receptionist I felt comfortable and scheduled a appointment that same day to have a deep cleaning it was amazing very little pain Maria did a awesome job I would recommend the Hippo Family Dental for your dental needs.

In the last year I've had numerous root canal's, fillings, and cleanings and I feel that with their accommodations and gentle care I have overcome a major mental block around getting dental work done. I live an hour away from Hutto but I make the trip every time without question because there is nobody I trust more. I'm so grateful for these beautiful people who make me feel safe and leave me feeling healthy and confident about my teeth
