Dr. Steven Hutchinson has been practicing family dentistry in Lexington since 2001. Our office is located in historic downtown Lexington. We offer general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, preventive dentistry, and family dentistry services to Lexington, Gilbert, Irmo, West Columbia, Columbia and surrounding areas. We also provide Children's Dentistry for children as young as 3 years and offer nitrous. Our goal is to provide our patients with the very best dentistry available allowing them to improve their smile and overall health.
We do preventive and restorative procedures, such as teeth cleaning with Fluoride treatment on children starting at 3-years old. We offer nitrous which helps children during treatments such as fillings, crowns, extractions. Dr. Hutchinson is excellent with children, working for over a year in a pediatric dental practice.
Dr. Steven J. Hutchinson was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC. Upon graduation from Northwestern H.S. he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from The Citadel. After completing his undergraduate studies he attended the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2001.
Dr. Hutchinson moved to Lexington, SC in the summer of 2001 and has been in private practice since. He is a member of the American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, The Greater Columbia Dental Society, the Association of Citadel Men, and is an Eagle Scout.
Dr. Hutchinson strongly believes in providing the finest quality care to his patients. His goals are to educate, motivate, and bring you back to a state of dental and overall health while enhancing the natural beauty of your smile. He believes that a healthy smile will improve self-esteem, confidence, and bring forth a better quality of life.
Dr. Hutchinson is married to his wife, Jennifer, who practices dental hygiene part time. Together they have a beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Reagan. He enjoys spending time with his family and when hes not at work you will likely find him at the family farm. They have horses, mini horses, goats, donkey, chickens, and cats. His absolute favorite are the goats, to which he has raised many on a bottle!

Dismissed from the practice for being 13 minutes late? I would understand not being able to be seen that day but being dismissed it absurd!

Honestly, if I could give 0 stars I would. We were mislead to think our insurance was supported here. They proceeded to do our appointments and then got hit with a $500 bill the next month AND it immediately accrues interest?! We have talked with them and they have done nothing to own up to their mistake. Do not recommend this place at all.

I've had to change my daughter's dentist 3 times over her childhood bc we've changed areas. This was the first dentist that ever caused her real pain. We went here maybe 4 or 5 times, the dentist filled around 5 cavities total & capped a root canal, but every time my daughter was complaining of pain up to a week after. Once the pain lasted nearly 3 weeks! She'd be in tears, my 15 yr old.. saying Mommy my tooth still hurts really bad. I would take her back immediately bc I could tell this was not normal discomfort, he would exam her & say it's all good, it's normal. Umm no it's not! She had never experienced pain like this with her other dentists. Idk what this guy was doing different that caused her to experience so much pain, but I was NOT bringing my child back to this man again! We now have another new dentist & he's fantastic, she has not experienced pain like that since! I also want to mention this office is slam full of goat statues, goat paintings & artwork everywhere your eyes land. I was raised in the church so that immediately made me uncomfortable, but I figured I wouldn't judge & looked past it (Should've taken the sign, grabbed my youngin & ran for the nearest exit). The last time we were there, they actually had a live goat in the office... A dental clinic with a live animal inside, Wtf!

This office is down right amazing! I have been having tooth pain and they got me an appointment the same day I called. Then they were able to get me in, do x-rays, and send out a referral for me all within an hour. I had to go on my lunch break and when I left I still had 15 mins left. The entire staff and the doc were super nice and very helpful. I do not have insurance and they are actually very affordable. I highly recommend them to any and everyone! Such a great place and great staff.

Professionalism & warmth weren't something we experienced here, after a couple years in a row of the same treatment (including taking our young, minor children back without us, without being given an opportunity to make that choice & right from the start when our daughters didn't know these people, nor did my husband or I) we left for a more family-friendly environment.

Everyone at Dr. Hutchinson's office is so nice, and they go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. It was a very stress-free experience! I love all of their personal touches, like the beautiful artwork which is done by the staff. Dr. Hutchinson really, really cares and he is the best! I highly recommend them.

Dr. Hutchinson and his staff are without a doubt THE MOST customer service oriented people in the field! The office is state of the art. Everything is brand new and incredibly clean. They are beyond accommodating. My first visit was somewhat urgent and even though I had never been there, they were willing to see me within 24 hrs! My next few visits were very relaxing (I have never felt like they are trying to sell me anything.) My last 2 dentist's came across as salesmen and as a result, I never trusted them. Absolutely not the case here! I've had half my lower jaw removed due to cysts, and as a result, I've been to MANY Dr's in the dental field; so when I say Dr. H and his staff are beyond excellent, I say it with experience and conviction. If you're looking for an incredible dental experience, look no further than Dr. Hutchinson's office!

My first visit to Hutchinson Family Dentistry took place yesterday and I was most impressed with their professional, friendly and efficient service. It is clear that they care about their patients and are driven to give the best treatment possible at all times. Am very happy I chose this office!!!!

My family was discharged from the practice for missing an appointment due to what they call their "once and done" policy with missing any appointments. To be honest, that's not the reason for the one star. Dr. Hutchinson indicated in a treatment plan my daughter had a multitude of cavities she needed filled. She had two appointments with two quadrants completed and had six cavities remaining according to dr hutchinson. We missed the third appointment and were discharged. We changed dentists and scheduled an appointment to review her issues to schedule the remaining fillings. According to the new dentist, his review of new x-rays, hutchinson's x-rays, and an exam of my daughter, there are no cavities!!! Yes i said there were none so what was dr hutchinson going to fill at that third appointment we by the grace of god missed and fourth one?? Were there any REAL cavities that he filled at the first two appointments? I see he did work in her mouth but was it necessary or was it done to get money from the insurance company? Was he incompetent in his abilities to identify cavities? Something is seriously wrong here and I urge anyone going to this practice to get a second opinion before allowing him to do any work on them.

Hutchinson Family Dental has an extremely welcoming and compassionate staff. Jen (Dental Hygienist) was very gentle during the cleaning and explained what I could expect in the process. Dr. Hutchinson was quick but thorough as he examined my teeth. I would highly recommend this family practice, they are friendly, knowledgeable, patient and want to get to know you as a patient.
