Saliva is one of your bodys natural defenses against plaque because it acts to rinse your mouth of cavity-causing bacteria and other harmful materials. Dry mouth (also called Xerostomia) is a fairly common condition that is caused by diminished saliva production. People with medical conditions, such as an eating disorder or diabetes, are often plagued by dry mouth. Eating foods such as garlic, tobacco use, and some kinds of medications, including treatments such as cancer therapy can diminish the bodys production of saliva, leading to dry mouth. Other causes are related to aging (including rheumatoid arthritis), and compromised immune systems.
Some of the less alarming results of dry mouth include bad breath. But dry mouth can lead to more serious problems, including burning tongue syndrome, a painful condition caused by lack of moisture on the tongue.
If you dont have a medical condition that causes it, dry mouth can be minimized by sipping water regularly, chewing sugarless gum and avoiding smoking. Of course, there is no substitute for regular checkups and good oral hygiene.

Dr. Sakabe grew up in Southern California where he went to Pacific Palisades High. He later went to University of Southern California for college and then attended Marquette University Dental School. Dr. Sakabe enjoys family life as well as practicing dentistry. He feels blessed to have a career that can give his patients confidence with a beautiful smile! Dr. Sakabe has taken courses with the best cosmetic dentists in the nation. He also enjoys all kinds of sports and music. His main goal is to keep patients smiling and as comfortable as possible.
Dr. Young is a devoted mother and wife. She has an incredible passion for dentistry and her practice has been thriving for over 25 years. Putting a priority in personal relationships is what helps her to understand and serve her patients needs. After graduating from Tufts Dental School in 1985 she moved to Southern California and immediately opened a practice. Her goal is to provide the best dental care for her patients by using the best dental labs and materials. She received her Pac Live certificate in cosmetic dentistry and has continued to seek better materials and skills to improve the beautiful smile. With this in mind she also seeks to make her patients visits affordable and as pleasant as possible.

I don't like going to the dentist, but Mark and his staff are professional and accommodating. I would recommend this office to anyone who is looking for a new dentist. They serve to make you pain-free and satisfied with their work. My wife also goes to Mark. I am glad she insisted I go to him after my old dentist seemed behind the times with technology. He is a normal guy who really wants you to be provided with friendly and guaranteed work.

Great dental office. The staff here are excellent. Doctor Sakabe is so kind and gentle. You never feel it when he's giving you a shot. The hygienist friendly and are super thorough. Very caring.

I am so glad to have found Dr. Sakabe. He takes the time to listen and actually cares. Those things are really important to me. I've always had bad anxiety at the Dentist, but Dr. Sakabe and his staff always make sure you're okay and not in any discomfort.
