Dr. Hunter moved to Arizona as a young boy in 1963. He grew up in North Phoenix, graduating with honors from Sunnyslope High School in 1973. He then served a two-year mission for his church in Japan and returnedto complete his B.S. degree atBrigham Young Universityin 1979. He completed dental school atVirginia Commonwealth Universitys Medical Collegeof Virginiain 1983. His honors include membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), an honorary society for academic excellence. In 1986, Dr. Hunter completed a general practice residency at theUniversity of North Carolinaat Chapel Hill. Thereafter, he pursued a three-year program in graduate orthodontics at theUniversity of Missouri at Kansas Citywhere he received his specialty certificate. Practicing in Arizona since 1989, Dr. Hunter is a well-known Glendale orthodontic specialist.
Dr. Hunter has served as the Arizona director for thePacific Coast Society of Orthodontistsand is the past president of theArizona State Orthodontic Society. Hehas alsoserved as a board member for theArizona Orthodontic Study Groupand is actively involved in several other local, state, and national orthodontic societies, which include theAmerican Dental Association,American Association of Orthodontists, and theCentral Arizona Dental Society.
Dr. Hunter and his wife, Susan, are the parents of four children: Jennifer Florence (husband Landon), Jason, Jordan, and Joel, and proud grandparents to four grandchildren: Hunter, Claire, Jackson and Josie. Dr. Hunter has been in private practice for 30 years and says he will continue on, as he loves what he does and who he works with.

My husband had to get a jaw surgery and Dr Hunter was recommended by the first oral surgeon we met with. We ended up working with the local dental school for the surgery and the professor from New York and the professors locally all commented on Dr Hunters work. They made multiple comments about how good his work was and it was some of the best work they had seen. They said they would love if all their patient could go through him for the prep work. The work was so precise and lined up perfectly when they did the surgery! Now, a few years later, we moved back to the AZ and live close to Tuscan. We are trying to avoid the same surgery for our second child. We had been going to a different orthodontists in other states and we're excited to be close enough we could transfer to Dr. Hunter. We don't mind the drive at all knowing we are getting the highest quality of work! It was so relieving to experience a such a wonderful bedside manner again! He answered questions throughly, as well as he explained what was happing in the treatment and his plan. He was very respectful, and his years of knowledge gave us a very precise timeframe of when our oldest child would be out of braces and the course of action to prevent surgery for our second. Needless to say, we are so relieved to be back with Dr Hunter to get care from the best orthodontist! We have been so impressed with his work and professionalism!

Dr. Hunter and his entire staff are amazing! We could not have asked for a more pleasant experience (for all three of our children and their different needs) from scheduling to personalized care to final outcome! Dr. Hunter and the entire office do what is best for patients with the family budget in mind. Great communication, high level of compassion, and outstanding results! We cannot thank you enough for being so wonderful to us!!

Dr. Hunter is amazing. We wouldn't go to anyone else. Five out of seven in our family have been blessed by his great work. He is an honest, personable and hard working doctor who I would recommend to anyone. In the past I have had experiences where orthodontists will want to put a child in braces as soon as they see them and not necessarily at the best time to start orthodontics. I have also seen orthodontist play different pricing games where they don't necessarily give everyone the same quote. Dr. Hunter doesn't play those games. He has been in practice for a long time and he cares anout his patients. I'm so grateful to have found such a great orthodontist!

Dr. Hunter and his team are amazing. My daughter and I have both had braces through him. Appointments are always on time, the staff is friendly and teeth turned out amazing. They really take time with their patients answering questions and explaining things. I highly recommend Dr. Hunter!

The staff is always friendly, always professional, always kind. They made my daughter with Autism feel completely comfortable so that her anxiety flew away and she looked forward to gong. Dr. Hunter is an expert at his job making beautiful smiles by straightening teeth and letting spirits. The office always does extra things like optional incentives and little competitions to make your child feel like they are part of the "Hunter Orthodontics" family. If you want a top rate experience with a family of experts you can trust, this is the practice you should choose.

Front desk is fenomenal, doctor's assistants are amazing. They all do great work! I always leave super satisfied after my appointments. So far results are looking good. Im 100% sure Dr.David Hunter will give me a beautiful smile at the end. I definitely recommend !

Very professional and extremely courteous staff. They were kind and gentle, and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Hunter was also very kind and gentle. He took the time to explain my treatment plan to me which I really appreciated. My daughter is a dental hygienist and highly recommended Dr. Hunter. I am glad she did!

I was really pleased with the whole experience. Due to car issues, we showed up late and they were very gracious about it. The Treatment Coordinator, Tina, was so helpful and friendly and great with my figity 10 year old. Dr. Hunter spoke directly to my girls and made them feel comfortable and really a part of the process. The explanation of treatment and payment were clear and concise. I highly recommend them!

Dr. Hunter always make time to connect and assures all your questions and concerns are answered. He also makes sure the child is comfortable and understands the goal and how we will get there. He is conservative and takes the safest route without compromising the best outcome. His staff is always very polite and accommodating. This is by far the best Ortho experience we have had. He is not after the highest billable outcome, but simply the best solution.
