Our team is dedicated to maintaining excellent clinical standards and consistently researching new materials and techniques to make sure our services are up to date and of the highest quality. We even use surgical microscopes during many procedures for ultra precise and gentle work.

We attend many classes to advance our own education. Recognizing that many patients leave medical offices without a clear idea of how to maintain their health, our team focuses many of our training sessions on communication skills. As a practice, we place a strong emphasis on clear communication with our patients. Of course, we also invest our time in ongoing training to stay abreast of the newest research and procedures.

As a patient at Huisman Family Dentistry, you are an important part of your own health care team. This is one of the primary principles of our practice. Dr. Huisman does not believe in pushing you to do anything you are not comfortable with. Rather, he uses his considerable skill and outstanding training to collaborate with you for optimum health in a true family practice.

Dr. Jeffrey Huisman is from a family of dentists. His father, Dr. Tom Huisman, began practicing in 1972, and Jeff started working in his fathers office before he even graduated from Zeeland High School. He earned a bachelors degree from Calvin College and then a DDS from the University Of Detroit Mercy School Of Dentistry.

In 2001, Dr. Huisman joined his fathers thriving practice. They worked as a team until Dr. Tom Huismans retirement in 2010. A graduate of the acclaimed Dawson Academy, he continues to stay abreast of the latest advances and techniques and has trained with renowned practitioners and academics in the field of dentistry. He is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Jeff and his wife, Amanda, both musicians, met while singing in Calvin Colleges Alumni choir. Today, Dr. Jeff teaches and participates in programs at Christ Memorial Church in Holland and enjoys cooking. Dr. Jeff and his wifeare the proud parents of a 9 year old, 7 year old twins, a 5 year old, and a 3 year old.

With 30 years of customer care experience, Linda started working with Dr. Jeff in November 2012. With a BS in Medical Case Management, her focus is on coordinating patient care and managing the practice. Lindas passion for helping people extends outside of the office as she is a founding member and past President of the Pediatric Oncology Resource Team at Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital that serves the needs of families whose child has been diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder. Shes also served as state chairwoman for CARE, a global NGO focusing on the needs of marginalized women and children around the world. Closer to home, she volunteers on her churchs medical response team and have done missionary work in Sierra Leone, Africa. Currently, Linda is focused on Kids Hope and providing mentorship to an elementary school child. In her personal life, Linda has two amazing children of her own and a pudgy black cat named Ace.

Karengraduatedfrom Hope College and the Grand Rapids Community College dental hygiene program. Shes been a part of our team for 13 years. Karen loves meeting new people and always learning new things to better care for our patients. When shes not in the office, she enjoys biking, hiking, and cooking.

Diana started working as a Dental Hygienist at Huisman Family Dentistry with Dr. Jeffs dad many years ago. Some of Dianas favorite things about our office are the variety of patients we get to help daily and the comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. In her time away from work she likes to spend time walking her dog near Lake Michigan, doing yoga, and long distance biking. In the summer, Diana works with a bike repair ministry that fixes bikes for free!

Ashley has wanted to go into the dental field since the age of 13. She began as an assistant, but always had her sight set on being a dental hygienist. In 2014 Ashley graduated from the dental hygiene program at Grand Rapids Community College. She has a passion for mission work and volunteers locally and internationally. She enjoys connecting with patients to bring together the best care possible. In her spare time she enjoys reading and traveling with her husband and 2 kids, especially enjoying checking out the local zoos.

Rena grew up in Northeast Michigan and went on to attend Ferris State University. After graduating in 1998, she moved down to the Grand Rapids area. When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Rena says, Building long term relationships, encouraging patients through education and believing in individualized care to meet their specific needs. I find it so rewarding to see my patients get healthier. Dental hygiene is something Rena holds very dear to her heart, and she cannot imagine a better career path. Outside of our dental office, Rena enjoys volunteering at Mel Trotter and Holland Free dental clinics, hiking along Lake Michigan, art, antiques, and fishing!

Frances grew up in Holland and truly enjoys meeting new people! She also loves learning all things new in the dental world and ideas on taking care of patients. She obtained her Certified Dental Assistant degree in March 2018. Outside of the office, she loves spending time with her two daughters, family, and friends. If thats not enough she also does yoga, meditation, hiking, and going to the gym (whew!). She brings a wonderfully positive mindset to the practice in addition to a beautiful smile.

I grew up in Cuba, and since I was a child, it was my dream was to be a dentist. I graduated from the School of Medicine as a dentist in 2015. A few years later, I moved to Holland where I started working as a dental assistant to continue in the dental field and acquire new experiences. Helping to improve patients oral health makes me feel happy. The art of our profession is to love the smile of others. In my spare time, I love to cook, swim, and spend time with my family and good friends. I also enjoy learning new things every day and meeting people.
