Dr. Hugh Smaltz attended Murray State University for his undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Mathematics. He completed his graduate studies at The University of Louisville, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1989. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and CerecDoctors, a dental technology study group that uses state-of-the-art technology to help patients needing one-visit crowns and custom implants.
Dr. Brenda Barrow Smaltz is from Fort Pierce, Florida. She attended Stetson University, where she played on the women's volleyball team while studying Biology. She later graduated from the University of Florida with her B.A, and in 1987 she was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery(DDS) from Emory University. She met Dr. Hugh in Louisville in 1988, while completing her General Practice Residency. They married in 1989, and have shared the challenges and joys of working together while raising a family. She enjoys coaching volleyball, gardening, and teaching bible study to all age levels.

Just want to say thank you to A Better Day Dental for their excellent treatment and care. Recently I had to have a crown replaced and was worried that I could lose the tooth; however, Dr. Hugh took so much time and care. I left the office in about two hours with a new crown that fit so well and looked fabulous! Everyone makes you feel so comfortable. The hygienist is wonderful. I have been going to Dr. Hugh for years and have never known him or his staff to be anything but caring and wanting the best possible outcome for you.

We absolutely LOVE everyone here. Our 4 year old talks about going to the dentist weeks before he appointment, if that's any indication. Not to mention- we moved from Newnan to Locust Grove close to two years ago and we still make the hour+ drive to Newnan for all of our dentist appointments. Literally everyone at this location very obviously loves what they do. They make everyone feel welcome and important. Never mind that they do quality dental care ;) My husband and I have both had to have a few dental procedures done here and have never dealt with repeat issues since seeing Dr. Hugh and they all really encourage maintaining healthy habits, so we haven't gained any new issues since we found them several years ago either. We recommend them 100% to anyone.

We have been patients of Dr. Smaltz for several years now, and we could not be happier. Everyone in the office is very friendly, and the hygienist does a wonderful job at making sure you're as comfortable as can be. Going to the dentist is not at the top of everyone's list, but A Better Day Dental makes the experience much better.
