Dr. Blanche D. Grube has been practicing dentistry for more than forty years and was mentored by the late Dr. Hal Huggins. For many years, Drs. Huggins and Grube collaborated to create The HugginsGrube Protocol.

Dr. Blanche not only continues this work, but she has also expanded on their original practice of restoring the mouth as holistically as possible. She does this by obtaining an extensive health and dental history, utilizing the latest technology, and by determining the bio-compatibility of dental restorative materials for the individual patient.

The Huggins-Grube Protocol is an integrated system that incorporates multiple safety factors to enhance immune recovery. The foundation of the Huggins-Grube Protocol is the Full Dental Revision. A Full Dental Revision consists of the removal of all toxic materials from the mouth and restoring the mouth as holistically as possible, using biocompatible materials.

The Huggins-Grube Protocol is devoted to providing not only education for the patient, but also alternatives to dental materials and procedures that may be connected to a variety of health issues. Science is now proving, that in fact, many chronic health problems have been caused by these same procedures being used today such as, the continued use of mercury amalgam fillings, root canals, and implants. Research is showing that the damage from these toxins may accumulate in the body and cause a negative impact on an individuals health and well-being.

Prior to his death, Dr. Huggins passed his torch to Dr. Blanche. He was confident that due to her deep understanding and commitment to treating the mouth while taking into account how that treatment can affect the whole body, his legacy would continue through her. Today, Dr. Blanche continues to enhance and teach the HugginsGrube Protocol in the United States and abroad.

The Huggins-Grube Protocol is an integrated system that incorporates multiple safety factors to enhance immune recovery. The foundation of the Huggins-Grube Protocol is the Full Dental Revision.A Full Dental Revision consists of the removal of all toxic materials from the mouth and restoring the mouth as holistically as possible, using biocompatible materials. The following is an outline of the Protocol:

  • In the dental office, expect a dental examination that includes hard (teeth) and soft (gums and neck areas) tissue evaluations. X-rays will be taken to locate decayed teeth, defective fillings, missing teeth, cavitations, root canals, or dead teeth.
  • The complete blood count (CBC). This shows the red and white blood cells that are generally altered by the presence of mercury and root canals. From these tests information on how your immune system is functioning can be gleaned, and how the removal of dental interference can re-ignite proper immune function.
  • Additional blood is drawn to be sent toBiocomp Laboratories for what is called the compatibility test. This shows which dental materials are reactive with your specific immune function and which ones can more safely be used in your mouth.
  • A small sample of your hair from the nape of the neck will be taken (probably best by your barber or beautician) to be sent to Doctors Data for analysis of minerals. Some minerals, like lead, mercury, and cadmium, are toxic. Others, like sodium, potassium, and calcium are compared to blood levels for the same minerals in order to be able to interpret the real condition of your body. There is a relationship between blood and hair analysis which shows us that high levels are indicative of high tissue levels, but the reverse is not true. Low levels do not always mean you have low levels in the body but can mean that the body is having difficulty excreting the toxins. These results may be totally the opposite of conventional wisdom with respect to people with cellular transport problems caused by dental toxins.
  • Plan your treatment jointly with the dentist, physician, IV personnel, acupuncturist, nutritionist, detoxification doctor, and other health professionals so that the timing of events complements each other, and does not interfere with the final results.

Start your nutritional program based on your blood chemistry interpretations as soon as is feasible in the program. The amounts of carbohydrate, protein and fat intake are suggested with the first blood test, and a more refined diet can be determined with follow-up blood tests.

Supplements may be started prior to the dental procedures when possible. Needs for calcium are specific, and most patients suffer from an overdose of the improper form of calcium. Care must be exercised when prescribing calcium. Most of the rest of the necessary supplementation is based on your chemistries (not blood type) and is individual. Modifications in dose are based on follow-up chemistries. Do not take Vitamin C the day of dental procedures. Vitamin C by mouth may shorten the effect of the dental anesthetic. The IV form of Vitamin C does not do this for reasons unknown, but even 500 milligrams in the tablet form will detoxify the anesthetic enough to let you feel more discomfort during the drilling or surgery.

Observe the Patient Protection Protocol as closely as possible during removal procedures. Complete protection includes IV Vitamin C, the use of a rubber dam, copious amounts of water, high-speed suction, full body and head draping while amalgams and nickel crowns are being cut with the high-speed drill. The use of air filtration in the operatory and the presence of negative ion generators is used to remove the massive amount of mercury vapor within the dental office. Then placement of dental materials that have been proven to be biocompatible to the patient are inserted.

If a root canaled tooth extraction is performed, the tooth is put in a test tube and sent toDNA ConneXionsfor the list of the microorganisms. If cavitation surgery is performed, at least one blood sample should be sent toDNA ConneXionsfor a list of infectious organisms and a separate biopsy should be sent to a pathology laboratory. This is done to ensure the patient is not dealing with a cancerous lesion.Ideally, all cavitations should be sampled, but that necessity is determined by the surgeon.

If surgery is done, the dentist/surgeon will determine the need to use ice packs immediately after the procedures are finished, the use of magnets if desired, or dispensing of homeopathic remedies or pain medication. Please avoid codeine when possible, for it makes many people nauseated, and is constipating for the majority of people. Minimal travel after surgery is advisable (like 5 miles or less) for the vibration in a car can release the blood clot resulting in the famous painful dry socket. Smoking after surgery will almost guarantee the formation of a painful dry socket. Be forewarned.

Be absolutely certain that your IV during the dental procedures contains NO Vitamin B-12. Methylcobalamin can donate a methyl group to mercury making it methylmercury which is extremely damaging to your nervous system.

Massage is a good way to stimulate lymphatic drainage and is in particular helpful in patients with white blood cell or serum calcium problems. It can be applied a few days before the dental removal sessions, and a few days afterward.

After dental removal procedures are completed, be sure that the patient maintains a high protein diet. If surgery was done, best to use a blender for a few days to avoid damage to fresh surgical sites.

Be sure that the C-flush procedures are followed. Many people achieve a new level of health after basic dental revision procedures but do not feel that they have all the health and energy they would like. When they remember the C-flush and actually do it, they immediately feel much better. Remember, eating the right foods is only part of the treatment. You have to digest, absorb and assimilate the breakdown products of foods before your body can really build a new you. It takes a renewed gut to do that.

An alternative to the C flush procedure would be having 2 or more colon hydrotherapy sessions. This form of cleansing the lower bowel is preferable to the C flush. Contact your local colon hydro-therapist as soon as possible, after your dental revision. The microbiome of the gut must be restored with prebiotics, probiotics, and fermented foods.

Select the detoxification procedures that are available and acceptable to you. Be careful to find the balance between adequate and overdoing. Two to three procedures per week are adequate for most people, and six to seven per week is overdoing it for almost anyone. Be kind to yourself. The biggest single problem post-dental revision is too much detoxification too fast. Be really careful here. This goes for detoxification medications as well as saunas, etc. Get educated. Read the book on detoxification and take heed.

See to it that your follow-up blood tests and interpretations are scheduled. It is easy to slip back into the habits that created your original problem, so all of us need the hand holding to maintain improved health.

Challenging the paradigms of traditional dental practices, the Huggins-Grube Dental Center takes a biological and holistic approach while providing you with the best care for your overall health and well-being.

Dr. Blanche Grube first met Dr. Hal Huggins in the early 90s when he began to mentor her on biological dentistry and the many facets of integrative medicine (e.g., blood chemistry, nutrition, and the importance of supplements). In 2013, Dr. Grube began collaborating with Dr. Huggins in an effort to expand upon and carry on his work.

Like her mentor, Dr. Blanche is dedicated to teaching dentists how to accomplish the Full Dental Revision following the Huggins-Grube Protocol all over the world. Patients wanting to improve the status of their health, get one and only one chance to remove toxic materials from their mouth properly, which is why the Huggins-Grube Protocol is constantly evolving.

It has been proven that many of our chronic health problems have been caused by damage from dental fillings (mercury-based fillings), root canals, and many common dental procedures; diet and environmental toxins also play a part in overall health. The damage from these toxins may accumulate in our body and cause a negative impact on our health and well-being. Dr. Blanche believes that all health care professionals must remember to - First do no harm.

The Huggins-Grube Protocol includes safe mercury removal utilizing the latest in technology to protect not only the patient, but also the dentist and the dental staff. We remove mercury dental fillings in a sequential order. Because many metals are released directly into the mouth from the fillings and are immediately absorbed into the cheeks, under the tongue and into your blood stream, we also recommend the removal of these metals.

Other metals include, nickel, aluminum, zinc, beryllium, etc., the higher the electrical currents on the filling or appliance, the faster the metals are being released into the body. Tests have proven that when these highly negative charged fillings are removed, it shows improvements in symptoms and blood chemistry. Usually, the removal of all fillings, crowns, root canals and cavitations can be done in one sitting.

While several European countries have banned the use of mercury fillings (e.g., Sweden, Denmark, and Norway), the European Union (EU) has now placed limitations on the use of mercury fillings for women and children. This is the result of the Minamata Convention on Mercury Treaty.

The United States, as well as other developed countries, continue to allow mercury fillings to be implanted in the mouths of not only adults, but also children, even though the United States has ratified the Minamata Convention on Mercury Treaty.

Because many metals are released directly into the mouth from the fillings and are immediately absorbed into the cheeks, under the tongue and into your blood stream, we recommend the removal of these metals. These metals include mercury, nickel, aluminum, zinc, beryllium, etc. The higher the electrical currents on the filling or appliance, the faster the metals are being released into the body.

Tests have proven that when these highly negative charged fillings are removed, it shows improvements in symptoms and blood chemistry. Usually, the removal of all fillings, crowns, root canals and cavitations can be done in one sitting.

Educating yourself about toxicity of materials and related dental procedures will inform the consumer of the importance of the mouth and its relationship to whole body health. We recommend the following books:

Biocompatibility Testing done by BioComp Laboratories, Inc. in Colorado, determines what dental replacement materials will be the least reactive to the patient. BioComps objective is to measure immune system response on an individual basis using our sophisticated blood serum procedure. The end result is the Biocompatibility test a comprehensive report which simply states whether the dental materials are highly reactive, moderately reactive, or least reactive. This information allows the individual to learn about and avoid dental toxicity by using the least amount of reactive materials possible.

Reactivity is the amount of change occurring within the immune system when it is subjected to a foreign substance. All foreign substances introduced to the body will elicit a response from the immune system, including dental materials.

The only material that is perfectly compatible with your immune system is your own tooth. However, there are other materials that we use that are appropriate for the individual patient. We can determine what materials would be best for you by a blood sample that you provide.

Its only after completion of the Full Dental Revision, can the patients body respond to the physicians advise pertaining to detoxification. The physicians expertise in nutrition and supplementation will rebuild organ systems and help to revitalize the whole body.

The importance of healthy choices and eating as much organic food as possible, along with how supplements can assist in restoring vitamins and minerals that are lacking in our diets will be discussed.

Vitamin C IV use is becoming an acceptable practice in the health care industry. What was once criticized now shows that Linus Pauling was right Vitamin C does help immune compromised patients and does in fact have significant benefits to the patient.

Vitamin C may be given by IV infusion or taken by mouth. Much higher blood levels are reached when vitamin C is given intravenously. When given by IV infusion, vitamin C can reach higher levels in the blood than when it is taken by mouth. Vitamin C is a very important component when assisting the immune systems ability to detoxify the body as it is being exposed to potential toxins. Those potential toxins can be heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Vitamin C maintains the bodies level of glutathione, the major detoxifier of the body. Dr. Grube will detail the importance of its use in The Huggins-Grube Protocol.

Hair analysis is another tool to evaluate the patients body chemistry and toxic exposure. Although we dont feel any pain when we get our hair cut, hair is a living tissue. A hair analysis is a preliminary screening method for the presence of toxic substances deleterious to health after exposures in air, dust, sediment, soil and water, food and toxins in the environment.

I went to Dr. Grube for a great deal of dental work that I was putting off until I found the "right dentist". My first contact with the office was through Sandy and she was super nice and extremely helpful and then I met the other staff and they too were just as pleasant. The first thing Dr. Grube did was gave me a thorough blood workup so she could take a peek at my overall health. She reviewed each one of my test results and provided me with feedback on how to make improvements even before she began working on my teeth. I absolutely loved that I could have intravenous Vitamin C during my procedures and Dr. Grube even provided me with her cell phone so I could reach her with any issues or questions I had along the way. The only downside is the office does not accept insurance but for me I felt that my health was worth the price.

We appreciate the care and attention that we received at Dr. Grube's office in Bluffton, SC and Scranton, PA. They do really care about the patients they treat. Because of the severity of my wife's condition they scheduled our procedures quickly. We are very appreciative of their accommodation and we drove 9 hour for the appointment and would do it again. The holistic approach to the procedure was what we were looking for and met our expectations. We are so pleased with the results of having the mercury/metal out of our mouths done safely and with very little discomfort. Highly recommend!

Dr. Grube and her staff exceeded my expectations! Dr. Grube helped save a tooth that my regular dentist felt needed a root canal and crown..I am thrilled! Her knowledge and expertise in conservative holistic dental care is rare and difficult to find. I drove over 1.5 hrs to see her and was NOT disappointed. She is a kind caring compassionate practitioner who I would HIGHLY recommend. Her staff is equally kind and caring, helpful and courteous. The office is impeccably clean and appointments timely. I just wish Dr. Grube had a practice in my town. Highly recommend this practice.

I was very disappointed with my visit. The office was very sterile and cold, her receptionist is unfriendly and short, and Dr. Grube made it clear that she is burned out and looking forward to retirement. The biggest disappointment to me was in the way that all the follow-up was handled. None of her recommendations are in line with Huggins Applied Healings' recommendations for detox following surgery. This was a huge disappointment because detox after mercury filling removal is a very important part of the whole process. I questioned this but didn't even get a return phone call. In addition, she charges to have any removed teeth tested at DNA Connections, and she never followed up with the results of the test or recommendations based on the results. I personally ignored any bad reviews that I read before my appointment because I believed that since she was a pioneer of Hal Huggins that I was going to the best person, but I found out the hard way that she absolutely is not.

Dr. Grube has the best protocols that you won't get anywhere else with thorough ozonation, cleanings with vitamin C IV , non traumatic properly done extractions, and safe materials. She is thorough, and might even accommodate your special requests outside the protocol. You won't find another dentist that takes the time to thoroughly follow the holistic protocols as her. If you have a tooth pulled, you're going to heal up much faster with the way she does it. She is spot on with her stance on bio compatibility with any dental or periodontal material.

I went to Centers for Healing in Scranton, Pa in September and was delighted with all that took place. I was brought right in and was checked thoroughly. The results of my blood work was explained and a plan was made for future procedures. I was able to get a return visit less than 1 month after my first visit. This is the best patient care I have had at a dentist because they care about the whole person, not only the mouth! I highly recommend their services.
