Dr. Gen Ohkawa obtained his DDS degree from Stony Brook Universitys School of Dental Medicine where he was the recipient of the prestigious Esthetic Dentistry Award. He continued his training at the Weill Cornell Medical Center at New York Hospital of Queens. Upon completion of advanced training in dental implants and restorations he was awarded a Fellowship by the International College of Oral Implantologists (FICOI).
Dr. Os passion has always been to provide a comfortable, friendly atmosphere where each patient is treated as family. In his free time, he enjoys jogging, going to the gym, reading and spending time with his wife and two children.

CJ Registered Dental Hygienist I was born and raised in Greene County. I fell in love with dentistry early in my life and earned my degree in Dental Hygiene from Hudson Valley Community College in 1992. I have been with Hudson Valley Dentistry since 1995. I have advanced training in periodontal treatment and maintenance and I continue my education in striving to achieve optimal oral health with each of my patients.
Katie Office Manager I have worked in the dental field as a dental assistant/office manager for almost 30 years. I enjoy what I do and pride myself in the excellent service we provide as a dental office.
Mariana Certified Dental Assistant I have been a dental assistant for more than 10 years in the Hudson Valley. I received my dental assistant training through Hudson Valley Community College. I enjoy learning new techniques and advancing my knowledge through continuing education courses. As a Saugerties native, I love seeing familiar faces in and out of the dental office. In my spare time, I love to travel, hike, and explore the beautiful Catskill Mountains.
Ally Dental Assistant I started my dentistry journey in endodontics before enrolling in a Dental Assistant Training program in Newburgh. I joined Dr. Ohkawas team in January 2021 and I love learning the procedures when not at work. My husband and I enjoy playing music, hiking, and general outdoor fun. The best part about my job is meeting the new patients and helping them.

While I have dental issue the doctor took the time to explain measures to deal with the problem. He did not only explain in simple laymen's language, but with genuine compassion. Palenville and surrounding communities we are formulate to have him.

My dentist retired and I needed a new one. I was lucky enough to find dr gen okhawa by reading many excellent reviews.. I had an emergency and the office was great in getting me in, though I had not been there before... great office staff The dr took his time and after fixing my issue spent a lot of time explaining my situation so I understood it. I am so thrilled to have found this office - I need more work done and I know I'm in excellent hands The whole staff is outstanding !

My family and I have been going to this dental practice for 31 years. We've had routine preventative treatments, restorative work and emergency treatments. Our needs are always prioritized. They are professional, kind and reachable before, during and after services. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Gen Ohkawa and his staff are exceptionally professional -- I'm so glad I found this office!! CJ is one of the best dental hygienist I've experienced in a long time. I have extremely sensitive teeth so cleanings are always a nightmare (cold water/air...no). CJ makes sure to use warm water during my cleaning which makes my visits less anxiety inducing, lol. Truly adore this office :)

I use to be afraid to go to the dentist. I have received so much support from Dr. Ohkawa and C.J And the whole staff that I look forward to going to get my teeth cleaned. I needed a cleaning this week and they fit me in where someone else cancelled. I am very grateful for all their help. I love it at this office and I am very surprised because visits to the dentist used to be an ordeal. I am especially grateful to C. j for all her patience.Thank you.

Of all the dentists I've had, Dr. Ohkawa is by far my favorite. His explanations to both kids and adults are clear and easy to follow. He is always happy to answer any questions we have. Dr. Ohkawa has gone above and beyond any expectations with his accessibility and thoughtfulness on multiple occasions. The COVID safety precautions in the office are very thorough and have made me, a very cautious person, feel safe throughout the pandemic. The hygienists and office staff have always been really helpful and nice. I highly recommend this practice.

The staff were extremely helpful with any question I had. They do their best to provide a comfortable, stress-free environment. I have to admit, I've never had a great experience with receiving novacane, but the last time I was there, I didn't even feel the needle peirce my gum/lip. It was amazing. Also decided to get my teeth whitened. They knew exactly what to do, they knew how to answer my questions and concerns. Definitely recommend going here.

The team is really efficient. They have an online check in for all the paperwork so you don't waste time in the office. Their tech is all new for x-rays and cleaning. I was impressed with how supportive they were and how well they cleaning went. I highly recommend them.

Very knowledgeable staff. CJ did an incredibly thorough job cleaning my teeth (not an easy task, since it had been 3+ years since my last cleaning). She even recommended a massage therapist for my jaw pain/migraines and a brand of water pick.

This office is fantastic! I worked here even though for a short time, the doctor is great, and the staff are wonderful. The doctor you can tell really cares about his patients and doing his job correctly and making sure the patient is fully aware of their options and everything in between. Would highly recommend this office to everyone!

Dr. O and his friendly staff are warm, professional and courteous.....a winning combination! There is never a wait time to be seated and I have always had an "ouch less experience". I was nervous going to a new dentist after my previous dentist of 40 years retired - however Dr.O did not skip a beat with his gentle, understanding and compassionate chair side manner. For a pain free dental experience, I would highly recommend Dr. Ohkawa and staff with 5 stars!
