Dr. Emily F. Howell was born and raised in Cornelia, Georgia where she wore braces and realized that being an orthodontist was exactly what she wanted to do with her life! One of the main reasons Dr. Howell was drawn to this career path was the fulfillment of seeing not only a patient's smile greatly improve but, more importantly, their self-esteem and confidence as well. In an attempt to obtain scholarships for several years of dental school, Dr. Howell sought after and won the title of Miss Georgia and went on to compete in the Miss America Pageant.

As Miss Georgia, she took one year off from dental school to travel throughout the state, promoting her platform, 'Connecting Character to Careers.' This program was created by Dr. Howell to inspire leaders to help instill positive character traits in children. Today, she continues to strive to be a positive role model to her patients and speaks at many local youth and business gatherings. Dr. Howell and her team genuinely care about each patient and love getting to know their patients on a more personal level so they can relate to them better. Dr. Howell started Howell Orthodontics in 2007 and recently opened a new larger facility at 85 Memorial Drive in Jefferson. Dr. Howell and her husband, Jon, are proud parents of their daughters, Georgie andLucy! They all love and enjoy spending time with their sweet dog, Beauty!

Dr. Howell is constantly learning better ways to treat her patients through various continuing education courses. She often travels quite a distance to hear the very best speakers and researchers present orthodontic topics. In addition, she spends a lot of time taking online courses that pertain to her specialty. Every day, she wants to aim to be a better orthodontist than she was the day before. She strongly believes that her patients deserve no less!

Dr. Howell currently resides in Jefferson with her husband, Jon, andtheir daughters Georgie and Lucy, and their BrittanySpaniel Beauty. She enjoys spending time with her family, working out, listening to all types of music, singing, playing the piano, watching college football,traveling and painting art.

Heather Bosquet is our Scheduling Coordinator and is often the first smiling face you see upon entering the front door of our practice. Heather has spent most of her career serving customers in banking and insurance. She is thrilled and very thankful to be a part of the Howell Orthodontics family! Heather, her significant other, Shawn, and her two daughters, Kourtney and Meghan live in Oconee county.

In her free time, she loves to spend time in the sunshine at the pool or lake, boating and riding jet skis with family and close friends, and traveling and spending quality time with her family. Heather attends Athens Church in the great city of Athens.

Madison is ourTreatment Coordinator and brings with her over 5 years of orthodontic experience as well as experience as a certified orthodontic assistant. Madison has an extremely bright personality and is eager to meet and help develop treatment plans for the wonderful patients who have chosen Howell Orthodontics.

Madison, her husband, Cody, and her son, Maverick, have recently relocated back to the city of Jefferson and are currently searching for a newchurch home. In her spare time, Madison enjoys working out, spending time with family, and doing anything outdoors - especially hiking and fishing.

Lisa Richmond is the Professional Relations Coordinator here at Howell Orthodontics. She is responsible for building and developing relationships in the community on behalf of Howell Orthodontics. Lisa has a business degree from The University of West Georgia and brings to our team many years of experience in sales and marketing. Lisa and her husband, Tim, reside in Jefferson with their three sons, Jackson, Tateand Garrett.

The Richmonds call Southside their church home. In addition to their full time jobs, Tim is a fire fighter with both the Arcade and Jefferson Fire Departments, and Lisa represents district 4 on the school board for Jefferson City Schools. Lisa loves getting to know others andmost enjoys spending time with her precious family.

Julie Ballman is the Financial Coordinator at Howell Orthodontics. Julie handles the filing of insurance claims and assists patients and guardians with any and all financial needs. Julie has an extensive educational and financial background which includes a Masters in Business Administration and over ten years of accounting, finance, and customer service experience. Julie lives in Jefferson with her husband, Mark, their sons, John and Michael, and her mom, Sharron.

They are members of St. Catherine Labour Catholic Church and are active in the local community as well. Julie enjoys cooking, baking, gardening, watching Jefferson sports, and spending time with her family.

Sara Simpson came to us with a background in daycare, serving kids from ages six weeks to twelve years for nearly four years. She completed her training and certification in orthodontic assisting, CPR, and radiology in May of 2014!

Sara is compassionate, thorough, and energetic. She and her husband, Justin have a sweet little boy, Rhett, and beautiful little girl, Emmalynn! Sara and her family are faithful members of Airline Baptist Church in Gainesville. Outside of the office, Saraloves baking, decorating cookies, hunting, and riding in the side-by-sidewith her family.

Bretta Hanley completed her training in orthodontic assisting in May 2016. She is also certified in CPR and radiology. After working as an assistantmanager at Quik Trip for five years, she has over9 years of experience working with people of all ages.Bretta is kind, compassionate, and hard-working.Being in the dental field is her passion, and she truly enjoys getting to know our patients and watching their confidence grow with a new smile. She and her husband, Austin,havetwo children, Bryson and Easton. The Hanleys reside in Athens, GA where they also attend Southside Church. Bretta enjoys spending time with her familyon their farm, traveling, and coaching her sons in baseball.

Alexis VanNus worked for several years in the medical field assisting doctors and nurses in pediatric hospital care before joining our team at Howell Orthodontics. Being in the dental field was her goal, and we are so thankful to have her as a part of our team! She is kind-hearted, sweet, thorough, and organized.

In her free time, Alexis enjoys outdoor activities, sewing, and spending time with her family. Alexis and her husband Greg have a beautiful little girl, Ava, whom they adore! She and her family attend Southside Church.

Haley Martin is valuable part ofthe Howell Orthodontics Team! She began with our teamas a clinical technician and has since transitioned smoothly into the role of an Orthodontic Assistant. Haley and her husband, Justin, live in Jefferson with their two girls, Camryn and Reagan.
