Dr. Howard M. Steinberg received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He then completed a 3-year training program in prosthodontics earning the Masters of Dental Science (MDS) degree. Dr. Steinberg has additional training in the field of maxillofacial prosthetics. After dental school, he completed a one-year fellowship training course in maxillofacial prosthetics at the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Steinberg is on staff at many of the major hospitals in Tucson and is a faculty member at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in the Department of Surgery. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and a proud member of the Crown Council Alliance.

A prosthodontist is a highly educated dental specialist dedicated to the health of your entire mouth. Prosthodontists take a whole mouth approach, undergoing intense training beyond general dentistry to focus on some of the most advanced procedures in dentistry. They perform cosmetic procedures to enhance the appearance of your smile and restorative procedures to help patients with missing or damaged teeth. Many people dont know the difference between a general dentist and a prosthodontist. Whilst some general dentists perform cosmetic and restorative dentistry, there is a significantly different level of skill and expertise between a general dentist and a prosthodontist. Having completed 3 or more years of specialized training, prosthodontists are well versed in cosmetic and restorative dental procedures. Very disappointed. There are basically three main ways to whiten your teeth for people like me who have tetracycline stained teeth (they are not "stained" on the surface, the entire tooth is dark). Those main options, based on my research, are veneers which are horrendously expensive, teeth bleaching/whitening which doesn't work well on tetracycline teeth but is affordable, and composite bonding which is between those two extremes (more expensive than bleaching but not nearly as expensive as veneers) but bonding can give tremendously good results even though they have to be redone every 10 years or so and you have to give up coffee, red wine, smoking, etc. as they stain easier than veneers. Dr. Steinberg's nurse told me that Dr. Steinberg will not do bonding! That is a real letdown and eliminates Dr. Steinberg as an option. There are other highly qualified, experienced and certified cosmetic dentists who will do bonding and I am making appointments to meet with them. But the most highly certified are in Phoenix which is quite a drive for me. Nevertheless, it looks like I will have to make that trip. My advice to any readers of this is review : look at composite bonding as an option before you allow a dentist to talk you into far more expensive options or options that will not work for you. I think you will be surprised how good the composite bonding option is compared to other otions. You need an experienced cosmetic dentist to do bonding right (I would not trust most "dentists" to do this right). But, if done right, composit bonding can be a tremendously good option. Dr. Steinberg may respond to this post, giving all kinds of reasons why bonding is not a good option. If so, all I can say to the reader is : do your own research. Look at all the references on composite bonding on Google and other online sources of information. I have read dozens of references on the procedure and have read all the negative and positive opinions aboutf it. My research has shown me, definitively, that composit bonding, if done by a qualified dentist, is the best option in many situations.

If you want to go to the best dentist in Tucson, there is no doubt in my mind that that is Dr. Howard Steinberg. I've been seeing Dr. Steinberg for about eight years now for all my dental needs but most importantly for a six tooth bridge that he did for me which included my top front TS. Obviously a big and important job to me. The results were fantastic. I get compliments on my "beautiful smile" all the time. He is simply the best and his staff is fantastic also. From the front desk folks, to his dental assistants, to the hygienist who work with him, everyone is five star

Twenty-five years ago I lost a front tooth to "internal resorption" and consulted Dr. Steinberg, who created a bridge to hold the false tooth and-- perfectionist that he is--veneers on two more teeth. Today I am still biting into apples and getting compliments on my "beautiful smile." The work he did is beautiful and it has lasted. I couldn't be more pleased!

I think I made a mistake come to his office to get second opinion. Dr. Howard shouldn't critical about other dentist when he doesn't know what the other dentist had done for the patient. Wrong thinking. I didn't know consultation for free, or had to pay. Any bodies know how many dentists out there charged their clients for consultation?. Dr. Howard should talked clear that would help me to make a right decision before I came.

There are multiple dentists in the area where I currently reside; however, I was in great need of an exceptional dentist. I am so glad I was referred to Dr. Steinberg. I have been a patient for 11 years and live 74 miles from the dental facility. The drive to and from the facility for dental care is well worth it; I feel cared for, comfortable and receive excellent dental service. I could not be more pleased and grateful for my smile. Dr. Steinberg is extremely professional and cares that his patients receive the best of care. He is great at listening to my dental concerns and addressing them with courteous understanding.
