Education Dr. Hovick earned his B.S. from the University of Iowa in 1975. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1979. He completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration (V.A.) hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Hovick practiced general dentistry in St. Louis, Missouri for five years before completing his postgraduate periodontal training at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1987.
Awards Dr. Hovick was awarded Diplomate status by the American Board of Periodontology in 1993. The American Board of Periodontology is recognized by the American Dental Association as the national certifying board for the dental specialty of Periodontics. The Board awards Diplomate status upon those who, after two to three years of postdoctoral advanced specialty training at an accredited institution, successfully complete a two part examination which consists of a comprehensive written examination, and an oral examination which includes documented case reports.
About Dr. Hovick Dr. Hovick has been practicing in Longmont since 1987. He is originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa and currently lives in Longmont, Colorado. Dr. Hovick has three children and is involved in hiking, skiing, and bicycling. He has climbed 41 of Colorados 14,000 foot mountains.
