Hailing from Mitchell, SD, Dr. Houska is proud to provide world-class care to his his local community. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of South Dakota, Dr. Randy received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1989. His post-graduate plans took him to Vermillion, where hes been ever since.
A true family man, Dr. Randy and his wife, Rita, have six children and several grandchildren. In 2009, his life took an unexpected turn when he and his family became reality stars, appearing on MTVs #1 rated show, Teen Mom 2'. Over the course of several seasons, he became known as Chelseas dad, a.k.a. Papa Randy. Fans of the show love his snarky, quick-witted attitude, and for being a truly supportive, loving father. He isnt shy about his experience on the show and engages in speaking events to talk about what it was like being in the public eye for over a decade.
Dr. Randy loves staying updated on state-of-the-art practices in dentistry and enjoying family time, boating, and coaching his daughters softball teams. When he needs to clear his head, youll find him cruising around town on his Harley Davidson. Dr. Houska and his wife are also avid Cornhusker and University of South Dakota Coyote fans and love to attend as many games as possible.
Dr. Randy is actively involved with the community and has utilized his public image to promote his charitable deeds. Through his philanthropy, Dr. Randy works with women, especially single mothers, who have been victims of both mental and physical abuse.
Dr. Randy also works with New Horizon Dental Center in Tempe, AZ, providing affordable dental care for those in need through their Implant Pathway program. In addition to being on numerous local committees, he recently served as a board member on the Vermillion Chamber and Development Company and has been a past president of Rotary, United Way of Vermillion, Knights of Columbus, and St. Agnes School Board.

This dentist and his staff are amazing. I was traveling from Pa and broke a tooth. They got me in, extracted the tooth and were very reasonably priced. The staff and dentist answered all questions and were great. I cant say enough good about them.

Randy Houska and his crew are the best of the best! I'm not sure anyone would be able to find another place quite like this one. They are all beyond friendly, address all your concerns, and really care about how you're feeling/ doing. You're likely to have more than just a quick in and out straight business dentist visit, because you get a sense that you really do genuinely matter. Randy has a huge heart and is great at what he does. I personally had a pretty crazy medical ride, and he felt like the light at the end of the tunnel, which I'm forever grateful for! I went from a broken embarrassing smile to one I can be proud of. I've been up there a few times in the last couple years and always feel welcome and cared for. The last time I was there I noticed him outside in the parking lot helping a patient, because for whatever reason he didn't want to/couldn't come inside.. I'm not sure how many people would do something like that.. I've also seen him speak out about abuse, and mentioned how he and his staff are always looking out for signs of people in situations where they need additional help in those areas. They really care about their patients, going above and beyond for them. Randy has been a dentist for quite some time now and I love that he is still traveling places to continue learning and growing in what he does.. not to mention he has the coolest dentist 'toys' that I haven't seen anywhere else, was quite interesting seeing all the technology his office invested in! I would recommend Houska Clinic to anyone who needs help and also wants an atmosphere that they are heard, responded to, cared for, feel welcomed, and wants the best care possible! I am not a patient here.. BUT I LOVE THE SHOW TEEN MOM AND CHELSEA IS MY FAVORITE TEEN MOM.. I THINK THEY HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED IN LIFE AND THAT SHE HAS A GREAT SUPPORTING FAMILY.. ESPECIALLY HER DAD.. I LOVE IT AND SO HAPPY TO SEE CHELSEA HAPPY WITH HER FAMILY OF HER OWN.. MAY GOD BLESS THEM

My experience here has been without a doubt the best experience I have ever had with a dental office. Everyone here is friendly and they recognized me on my second visit! Questions are answered and concerns are addressed in a friendly manner. I feel almost foolish for resisting my visit to a dentist for help with my teeth. Professional, Friendly and Courteous.

Very good service! I was able to take care of my cavities on the first visit and in one visit. My old dentist tried to break it into several visits at a much higher cost.
