Dr. H grew up in Chippewa Falls, WI, was valedictorian, student council president, and a multi-sport athlete. She had a wonderfully close knit family anchored by her parents, Roger and Sharon (who have been married for over 50 years!) and her fantastic siblings, older brother Matthew, and younger sister, Ashley.
She went on to complete both her undergraduate and doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degrees at the University of Minnesota. While there she competed for the Gophers on the cross country and track and field teams. She attributes much of her success to the values she learned and friendships she made while on those teams. In addition to academics and athletics, she was also heavily involved in service, research, and leadership, most notably as the chair of the Student Health Advisory Council.After dental school she attended the prestigious Case Western Reserve University for her orthodontic residency. Her research while there earned first place at the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists meeting!
Dr. Horton didnt see her education as complete after her orthodontic residency, but rather as a jumping off point. She voluntarily studied and became a board certified orthodontist, and continues to maintain that certification. She also faithfully dedicates time to continuing education opportunities multiple times a year to stay at the cutting edge of all new techniques and technologies. She is a firm believer in continuous innovation and learning.
In addition to her involvement in her practice and in lifelong learning, Dr. H also firmly believes in being involved in the community, both her professional community and the Woodbury and surrounding community. She is the current St. Paul District Dental Society president! She is also a current board member of the Minnesota Association of Orthodontists, as well as a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the America Dental Association.
While in school, Dr. Heather met the love of her life, Frank. He is an engineer, a master problem solver, and outstanding partner. They have two wonderful little children, their son Fitzgerald, and daughter Vienne. They fulfill their lives and keep every day exciting and fun!
Dr. H brings her care, hard work, and dedication to her clinic each day with the goal of bringing a smile to the faces of those she has the pleasure to be with: her patients, their families, and her wonderful team members.

Dr. Horton and her team are great. Treatment options were explained in detail, and everyone is very accommodating to any questions you might have. Recently, I had a crown put in, and my old retainer no longer fit. They squeezed me in the next day to fit me for a new retainer, and had it ready the same day. Awesome.

I have been receiving treatment for about 6 months now and I am very happy with their services. The building is exceptionally clean, tidy and sterile. All the staff I've interacted with have been friendly, professional, and answers all my questions and concerns. Dr. Horton possesses the same qualities. I am very happy I decided to go with Horton for my orthodontic care.

My daughter has needed several procedures over the past couple of years to correct her spacing. So happy we picked Horton Ortho for this journey. They have excellent communication and customer service skills. They value patient care and take extra steps to ensure my daughter (now 11) understands what this is all about. Didn't listen to my concerns about my teeth. I paid a lot of money for a work that wasn't great. I've complained that my teeth isn't wide and is still narrow. One of my upper right tooth is hiding behind my front two teeth, bottom teeth not so straight, and failed retainer, but they said they couldn't do anything about it. I was dumb back in Dec 2020 so I just okay then left. But now I know that I should've voice myself back then because I went to Minnesota Orthodontist today and they told me I can ask for a refund back, which I doubt they'll refund my unsatisfied result. I don't recommend this place. Nice people, poor work.
