Hornbrook Center for Dentistry, San Diego's leading dental office, has been providing complex smile makeover services for over 30 years. Founded by Dr. David S. Hornbrook in 1986, were known for educating and training cosmetic dentists from around the country.
In fact, Dr. Hornbrook only sees patients three days a week (another dentist is on call when he is out of town) at his office and travels to lecture and teach almost every weekend out of the year. As a world-renowned lecturer and educator, Dr. Hornbrook has lead the cosmetic dental industry for nearly two decades.
In 2020, Dr. Hornbrook invited seasoned and talented dentist, Dr. Laura Souza, to join his team. Born and raised in Brazil, Dr. Souza earned her first dental degree at Universidade Federal of Rio Grande do Sul in 2008, on a full scholarship. Later, she earned her second dental degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

A member of the esteemed American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, he is one of only 62 dentists in the world to achieve Fellowship status, the highest level of recognition in the industry. His numerous awards and recognitions span the previous two decades.
As a child, Dr. Hornbrook enjoyed painting, sculpture, drawing, and other hobbies that required a high level of dexterity and aesthetic sensibility. Growing up, his father was a physician and instilled a desire to help people live healthier lifestyles, but Dr. Hornbrooks artistic talents lead him to the specialty of dentistry.
Also an avid learner, Dr. Hornbrook implements the latest in industry-leading technology for our patient procedures. From state-of-the-art laser technology to partnering with Master ceramists, he upholds extremely high standards for each service available within our San Diego dental office.
As a lecturing dentist, Dr. Hornbrook spends thousands of hours training other dentists in the field of cosmetic dentistry. Its not uncommon for dentists to visit our practice to observe his techniques or have their own smile makeovers completed.
From the time that he was a dental student at the University of California (Class of 1986) to his present occupation as an internationally acclaimed cosmetic dentist, Dr. Hornbook has been continually recognized for his expertise and artistic capabilities.
He is also co-founder of the prestigious Las Vegas Institute, which provides advanced aesthetic training to dentists seeking to perform a higher echelon of aesthetic services. Many LVI students come from all over the world to learn these state-of-the-art techniques.
Born and raised in Brazil, Dr. Souza earned her first dental degree at Universidade Federal of Rio Grande do Sul in 2008, on a full scholarship. While on vacation in San Diego, she fell in love with the city and has stayed ever since. After relocating, she became involved in periodontal plastic surgery and even had the opportunity to work at the Nordland Oral Microsurgical Institute (NOMI) in La Jolla. Dr. Souza was later granted her second dental degree at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. When Dr. Hornbrook heard she was getting her second dental degree in the United States, he was excited that she would be able to join him at the Hornbrook Center for Dentistry. Dr. Souza published a paper in the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and she also co-authored the Periodontal Plastic Surgery chapter for the book Esthetics in Dentistry.
Dr. Souza has always admired Dr. Hornbrooks talent in dentistry and is very excited to join the team. Outside of the office, she also works as a certified yoga Instructor and spends most of her free time between yoga, playing with her dog, and going to the beach. She has just recently taken up bodyboarding and is enjoying spending more time in the ocean. She likes to visit her hometown in the south of Brazil every year to spend quality time with her family and friends.
Dr. Hornbook has employed several of our staff at Hornbrook Center for Dentistry for many years. Although some have retired and new faces have joined us along the way, were proud to be a very close-knit practice that strives for conscientious and attentive patient care.

Drs Hornbrook and Souza are obviously at the top of their game. They are experts in cosmetic dentistry and I am grateful for their services. In addition, it would be difficult to find a more friendly or professional support staff.

It's comforting to go to a dentist that you trust, that doesn't happen very often. My situation was a result of an accident and a horrible dentist. I feel so confident with Dr Hornbrook and would refer him to everyone I know. Dr Hornbrook fixed some work from a dentist. He's concerned with your comfort and results. His assistant is amazing as well. Love the results! Not finished yet so no pix yet!

The Best Dentists! Always a great experience when I have dental work or cleanings! Office staff is great as well.I've been a patient of Hornbrook Dentistry since the 1990's.I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Very professional and extremely courteous staff. You can tell they care about the work they do. The dental assistant, Danielle, went above and beyond for my consult. Dr. Hornbrook was informative and very down to earth for being one of the top dentists in the world.

Krishna, my hygienist was kind, thorough and very informative. My teeth feel great and I am confident I had the best possible care! I can't wait to come back!

I had great experience yesterday at Dr. Hornbrook dental office. It was nice to get to see Dr. Hornbrook again. Krstna, the dental hygienic did a thorough job on my dental cleaning and she has nice personality. Danielle was super busy, but she came out to the waiting area to greet me before I head out and that warm my heart . Dr. Laura Souza is a great addition to their team. All staff at this office are nice and hospitality. This year is exactly 20 years Aniversary that Dr Hornbrook has been my dentist. Thank you for my beautiful smile.

Dr. Hornbrook and his staff were absolutely incredible. I had a difficult case of needing an implant and veneer on my front tooth. I ended up doing veneers on all front four of my teeth. You cant even tell which tooth is the tooth that has an implant! It is no surprise Dr. Hornbrook has the best reviews -- from his impeccable work, to his kind staff, and clean facility, every penny you spend here will be absolutely worth it. I waited 21 years of my life for my smile, and now I can't stop smiling!

Absolutely the best cosmetic dentist anywhere! I traveled from Michigan to have my veneers done after seeing the work Dr. Hornbrook did on my sister. Never I have I seen more beautiful, natural looking veneers than my sisters. Now I am in the process of getting the same beautiful smile. Dr Hornbrook is a master at his craft, a true artist! In addition, he and his staff are so kind and down to earth, they are truly a pleasure to deal with. If you are in need of cosmetic work or regular dentistry look no further than Dr. Hornbrook. I have been going to this office for about three years I have been meaning to post a review for a long time! Dr. Hornbrook redid my veneers and they look amazing - other dentists have told me they would have never known they were veneers had I not told them. They look so natural! Also I was a little nervous to have my old veneers removed and the new ones put on but this processes was completely painless. This office also has the best hygienist and every staff member is kind and helpful!! Can't recommend this office enough!!
