Horizon Dental Care hosted it 's 14th Annual 'Dentistry from the Heart' event at their Hawley office on April 27th. Over 200 Adults 18 years or older in need of dental treatment received cleanings, fillings and extractions completely free of charge to those in need throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania
Over the past 14 years, Dr.John Evanish III and the team at Horizon Dental Care, along with dozens of volunteers have helped over 3000 thousand people receive over 1.2 million dollars in free dental treatment.
For many individuals throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania there are limitations to getting affordable dental care. Many working poor are under-insured or other may have no insurance at all. Due to shifting policies and changing demographics in the area, the percentage of residents with dental decay and tooth loss is high and the number. As a result far too many patients who lack dental insurance and financial stability suffer until they end up in emergency rooms for treatment to manage pain and infection.
The condition of the oral cavity matters because it is interconnected with general health, social function, and emotional well-being. Horizon Dental Cares annual Dentistry from the Heart Events seek to remove barriers to quality dental care by giving people in need the opportunity for a free teeth cleaning, and when required, fillings or extractions to help to restore better health and alleviate discomfort.
Dentistry from the Heart (DFTH) was founded over 16 years ago in New Port Richey, Florida, by Dr. Vincent J. Monticciolo and has become a world-wide non-profit organization. The goal of DFTH is to provide free dental care to those who would otherwise be unable to receive the care they need. Every year thousands of dental professionals and volunteers donate their time and services to this cause by hosting their own DFTH events.
Covid-19 pandemic has changed many things especially healthcare, but maintaining good oral health remains very important for your overall health. Due restrictions on dental offices during the Covid-19 shutdown, many patients missed their routine cleanings and other non-urgent, but necessary, treatments. It is important for them to get back on track soon rather than later to prevent future dental problems or unexpected emergencies.
Dr. John Evanish III, President and CEO, Horizon Dental Care, recently hosted a career night for the Pre-Dental Graduates and members of the Health Professions Organization from the University of Scranton. The students were recognized for their academic achievements and then had the opportunity to tour Horizon Dental Care.
There is a direct correlation between dental benefit coverage and the likelihood that someone will seek and receive dental care. Like most problems, dental issues, rarely fix themselves. By delaying treatment, patients risk more extensive, more painful, and often more expensive treatment later.

Fantastic dental care! They don't even accept my insurance and I continue to go here. It's always easy to get an appointment and everyone is kind and courteous. Parking is convenient(though I do wish they would fix the one side of their parking lot as it makes it hard to pull out onto the road).

I literally hate going to the dentist it didn't help years ago having a bad traumatic experience with a dentist in Monticello who on my first and only visit literally had me in tears he was rude and purposely very rough!! His receptionist apologized and said this was an on going problem with this dentist. Ever since I am hesitant of new dentists. The Horizon Dental Care were beyond the best; everyone there from the receptionist to the dentist were pleasant, and respectful and the dentist she was the best she was gentle and not out to rip every tooth out of your mouth; but try to help you save them. I can't say enough great things about them!!

I had a very good experience at horizon dental. She was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable and relaxed. I was advised to have sealants which is important for preventive measures. I would definitely recommend this group. Dr Christopher Cappellini is excellent

Had my first visit to Horizon Dental last week. Dr. Cappellini and Amanda were professional and knowledgeable and the result was a great first time experience. The pre-visit questionnaire made the visit run smoothly and quickly. The staff was welcoming and friendly leading to a comfortable first time visit. Highly recommend Horizon to anyone .
